Asposia is a mysterious world. Surrounded by the endless soil and against all laws of physics, Asposia is located in an enormous hollow space, which is ventilated solely through three big wind fountains. In this world lives Robert, a naive and cheerful novice of the last wind monestary.

He lives quite an introspective, simple life as court musician in the shadows of his honored master and ideal Conroy. This changes abruptly, when suddenly one foun-tain after another runs dry and the Windgods befall peaceful Asposia. Now just Robert is in the center of unexpected events!

Together with the mysterious thief Laura, best intentions and not the slightest clue Robert hits the road to solve the secret behind the disappearance of the winds. During his adventure he not only meets bizarre Asposians, but also really strange animals. In addition, Robert hast to solve tricky puzzles, which only could exist in Asposia. Is the young adventurer able to save his world? What are Laura's secrets? And why Robert has such a strange nose?

The Inner World sports a highly realised fantasy world carried by a charming art style and well animated character sprites, although, unfortunately, the quality of the animation does not fully extend to its cut-scenes. It is otherwise sizeable for its price and a more than competent point-and-click adventure that just feels slightly sluggish because of how slow the dialogue plays out and also confusing at times due to how the actual gameplay mechanics are implemented.

The Inner World is a relaxing and well-crafted point & click game which, despite its lack of a touch screen control system, will certainly be enjoyed by most players thanks to its challenging puzzles, art style, voice acting and overall environment. While some of the puzzles might seem too off the mark, the overall experience is nothing short of positive and appealing.

Despite a disappointing lack of touch support and resulting control irritations, The Inner World has much to like and Asposia’s warped characters are delightful company, provided you’re happy to ask for help when you’re stuck. There’s certainly no shame in that – and the hints system works perfectly – but we didn’t have enough eureka! moments of our own to feel sufficiently satisfied with its wilfully obtuse solutions.

Overall, while this game has a unique charm and an interesting world, the gameplay failed to make it a fond experience. For big fans of the genre, this might be worth picking up for a few hours’ entertainment, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

The Inner World has the potential to be a great adventure title, but unfortunately the use interface is a bit too confusing to provide a worthwhile experience.

I had a blast while playing the game from start to finish, intrigued by the story and laughing at its jokes, the characters were unique and charming as well, and best of all they were voice acted, good voice acting at that. This game is another wonderful piece that belongs in your ever growing library of Nintendo switch games, and in the end I was begging for more, thankfully there's more where that came from with their second game, The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk. I really enjoyed the story & connected with the main character and his world. Even lack of touch controls was not so bad (while playing 2nd part on Switch, that support touch controls I quickly switched to the buttons control known from the 1st part). Give me more adventures in this world! One of my favourites experiences on the Switch (disclaimer I really like good adventure games ;) ). Expand
