As a landmark title that other games have trouble matching even now, The Witcher 3 flourishes on the Nintendo Switch. With an immense amount of absolutely engaging content, a meaningful narrative, and a meticulously designed world to explore, there’s no doubt about the quality of the game.
  2. Oct 14, 2019
An intelligent port that shrinks one of the best RPGs of recent years without losing the scale and magic.
  3. Nov 14, 2019
The Witcher 3 today is just as much a master class in game and story design as it was four years ago. Feral Interactive did an impressive job porting this gigantic RPG to Switch.
  4. Oct 15, 2019
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition is something of a technical marvel on the Switch. Through what seems like techno-black magic, CD Projekt Red and Saber Interactive have ported one of the generations best games with smart compromises made to deliver the full experience. The game plays excellently on the small handheld and while the quirks and bugs found in the original release are still present, they're massively overshadowed by just how incredible the game is in almost every other way. If the Switch is the only console you own, and you're a fan of adult RPGs, it's an essential addition to your Switch library.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is every bit the amazing game on Switch that it is everywhere else. While the Switch version does of course make compromises, the core vision and game design shine through, assuming you have the brightness turned up. While it is unfortunate that the route finding system is just as bad now as it was at launch, it is ultimately a tiny chip in an otherwise remarkable masterpiece.
  6. Oct 14, 2019
"Switcher" may sound like a pun, but it's real as a Succubi breast! One of the most renowned RPG titles of all time now goes portable. Lower rendering and texture resolution and weaker performance are a small price to pay for such an experience on the go. Make sure to get this, and get it physical, as its whopping 29 gigabytes of required free space can truly be too much for some of the Switch owners out there.
  7. Oct 28, 2019
Witcher 3 for the Switch is a technological masterpiece but at a serious graphical cost. Still, the ability to play a solid, portable version of one of the best games of the modern era is worth the sacrifice.
  8. Nov 14, 2019
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition isn’t quite perfect: it suffers from somewhat muddied visuals and slightly unresponsive controls at times, but they still don’t totally detract from what is one of the most engaging, entertaining, and fun games I’ve played in a long time.
  9. Oct 18, 2019
The Witcher 3 on the Switch is a marvel in more ways than one, and if you want a game that you can sink dozens upon dozens of hours into without ever feeling like you’re doing the same things over and over again, then look no further because it’s right here.
  10. Dec 9, 2019
There’s a reason The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered one of the greatest action-RPGs ever made. The world is brilliantly realized, everything from the gameplay to the story contains a great amount of depth, and it gives players the power to make a meaningful impact on the world through the choices they make. And with arguably the most impressive Switch port of any game to date, players have a whole new way to experience CD Projekt RED’s massive hit, one that just might be the preferred way for those who can stomach mildly-reduced visuals.
  11. Oct 31, 2019
The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch is probably the best port ever made. It's amazing to see that a great game like The Witcher 3 runs well on a handheld.
  12. Oct 31, 2019
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt on Switch is guaranteed to keep any commuting gamer occupied, and for those playing at home, it still does justice to the quality of this rip-roaring adventure.
  13. Oct 28, 2019
The reduced visual quality doesn’t stop The Witcher 3 on Switch from being an astonishing technical marvel from Saber Interactive. It remains one of the finest open-world games of this generation, especially if you favour rich storytelling over systems and mechanics, which you can now take with you.
  14. Oct 27, 2019
Adapting this immense, lengthy and content-packed experience into a handheld format without harming its qualities is worth of every compliment and despite its technical concessions coming into full view when played on a television screen, the privilege of having The Witcher 3 in the Nintendo Switch and with all its content makes it a compulsory purchase.
  15. Oct 25, 2019
Its visuals may have been scaled down but it's no less fantastic of a game.
  16. Oct 25, 2019
With an engaging, lengthy story and a shockingly good technical presentation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt easily becomes Nintendo Switch's best port, and one of the best RPGs on the system. If you haven't played it yet, do so immediately.
  17. Oct 21, 2019
The Witcher 3: Complete Edition does succeed in bringing almost all of the magic present within the game to a platform that didn't seem feasible, and as a result offers an option to many players who might have found the game too daunting otherwise.
  18. Oct 18, 2019
There is literally no way around it: The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch is one of the best things that have ever happened to us as gamers. Being able to play one of the best games ever created on a handheld system wherever you are is astounding and amazing.
  19. 90
Though the Switch port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has made some obvious concessions to the visuals, it is a surprisingly good version of the acclaimed RPG -- and now it's portable!
  20. Oct 15, 2019
Although the Nintendo Switch might not be the best platform to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it's still a fantastic experience that shouldn't be missed. If you are looking to replay The Witcher 3 and bask in its detail and beauty, the Switch port may not quite scratch that itch. However, what makes this game excellent isn't its graphics, but the powerful stories it tells, and those are as vivid as ever on Switch.
  21. Oct 15, 2019
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has set a new benchmark in what you can squeeze out of the Switch. Despite all the compromises that had to be made to ensure the steadiest performance possible, it is still a beautiful game. Being the complete game there is 100-200 hours worth of gameplay to explore, with all the DLC and updates through the games life span all included. This isn’t some compromised, cut down version of the Witcher, you’re getting the whole game and you can play it anywhere you take your Switch.
  22. Oct 15, 2019
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition brings to Nintendo Switch one of the most complex and detailed worlds of this generation.
  23. Oct 14, 2019
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition is like any addictive substance. You need it, you always have to have more, and once you have it, you never want to be without it again. With its immense content load, well-crafted systems and engaging combat, you’ll soon forget that this is a downgraded port of the game.
  24. Oct 14, 2019
Sure, I may have criticized the visuals for being too blurry at times, as well as minor frame-rate hiccups, but those are just niggles when considering the massive open world that is now available to Nintendo Switch owners. This might not be the “definitive edition” of the game, but its existence makes The Witcher 3 accessible to more players, and that is certainly a good thing.
  25. Oct 14, 2019
The Switch is clearly not the game’s natural home and yet even with the graphical downgrade The Witcher 3’s innate quality shines through.
  26. Oct 14, 2019
If you’ve never played The Witcher 3, you should try to play on Xbox or PC, but if you want to get up close and personal, this is a fantastic version of a truly brilliant game.
  27. Oct 14, 2019
Without a doubt, the best way to experience The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition is on a much more powerful system with a top of the range television to match. After all, the game can be found for a much cheaper price on other consoles due to its age. However, that kind of luxury isn’t always practical, and what CD Projekt Red and Saber Interactive have done to make the Nintendo Switch version possible is a stunning achievement in its own right. The premium price tag that marks the game will never feel like it isn’t value for money. That is, assuming the genre is of taste to the player plunging in on the purchase.
  28. Oct 14, 2019
Its amazing what has been done with this portable Witcher 3 port. Yes the graphics are downgraded, yes it does not look as good as other versions but it is a well running portable version of a great RPG. You get a lot of game for your money and it is well worth your time and effort.
  29. Oct 14, 2019
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains a masterpiece, and being able to take such a grand and engrossing adventure on the go is something well worth celebrating. The Switch's Complete Edition is a truly impressive achievement, and although performance isn't perfect, it's still an incredible and impactful role-playing experience. The Witcher 3 set the bar for modern RPGs back in 2015, and this port is a startling reminder that it has yet to be bettered.
  30. Oct 14, 2019
An essential game for every role-playing game lover. With more than 200 hours of play, a masterful soundtrack, at the level of its playability and history. The biggest incentive to buy this title is to be able to play it in portable mode, as well as enjoy it from scratch for those who could never get a copy on the other platforms.
  31. Oct 14, 2019
Sure: Due to the weaker hardware, the switch version suffers from blemishes and technical problems that are more noticeable on the TV than on the small screen of the switch. But the great charm of The Witcher 3 ignites anyway in handheld mode.
  32. Oct 14, 2019
The Witcher III is still one of the best written RPGs out there, but the Switch version (specially played in TV mode) has many technical flaws and feels outdated.
  33. Nov 20, 2019
The mature content and somber approach of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition may put off some gamers, but it’s a can’t-miss game for those seeking an RPG with more bite and consequence (not to mention playable characters above the age of 15) than we normally get on Nintendo systems.
  34. Oct 24, 2019
In the end, it all boils down to the player. If you are looking for a great RPG to sink your teeth into, The Witcher 3 is an automatic recommend. What is not an automatic recommend is if you already own an Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or a PC that can run games well. If you do have one of those, get this game there. It looks way better and can easily be found on the cheap for $20 at any given sale. This version of the game is really only for the Switch only owners or the players really looking for a portable version of The Witcher 3. Sure, there are some of them out there and I can’t recommend this game enough, but just keep in mind, it does have that visual downgrade that can be a hard pill to swallow for some. If you can look past that, you end up with one of the best games to release in the past decade.
  35. Oct 21, 2019
Nintendo Switch receives The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. A complete edition that arrives at the console with all its contents and expansions, as well as updates. The sacrifice in terms of technical effects is the highlight of an incredible video game that we can play for the first time in portable mode.
  36. Oct 18, 2019
There is no need to talk extensively about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt since it has already been more than 4 years since the day of its release. This time, a game that is among the crowing jewels of the RPG genre is gracing Switch with its presence, bringing the full Witcher 3 experience on a handheld device. While the shortcomings stemming from the mediocre visuals are many, the players who are ready to accept them can proudly walk along with the White Wolf on the Portable Path.
  37. Oct 15, 2019
The Witcher 3 on Switch is not what you would call beautiful. However, the work done by CD Projekt Red to get its RPG into the Nintendo system is obviously successful. Some of the few flaws of this version are also those already found on the PC and consoles . The interface and menu navigation can be a little heavy and there are some camera issues during the fights and the movements. Still, those are details. It’s a lot of fun to play Gerlat again, and it would be a shame to miss it.
  38. Oct 15, 2019
Despite its logical downgrade, The Witcher 3 runs swiftly on the Switch, which provides an organic gameplay.
  39. Oct 14, 2019
The visuals are drastically reduced in parts, but the overall quality of quest design and storytelling manages to keep the fascination intact.
  40. Oct 14, 2019
One of this generation’s titans finally makes its landmark debut on the Nintendo Switch. For newcomers who can fight through the rocky 30 frames per second and lower resolutions, The Witcher 3 on Switch is a no-brainer. But, for those with no plans to take their monster-killing outside, the game is better enjoyed on other consoles.
  41. Oct 14, 2019
This version is just pure witchcraft. It is incredible how such a big game fits in a tiny console. It does have its visual shortcomings, and we wouldn’t recommend it if you’re planning on playing it on a big TV, but it feels like a miracle on handheld mode.
  42. Nov 13, 2019
In the end, it's a testament to the art direction and captivating gameplay that the Switch port of The Witcher 3, stripped of most of its technical achievements, is still a damn good and immersive video game. If you haven't played The Witcher 3 yet, this is a good opportunity to jump in. The game runs better and is available at a more affordable price on the other platforms, but if you can live with the heavy visual downgrades for the sake of portability, then this is as good as The Witcher 3 gets.
  43. 80
The Witcher 3 is so involved, that the Switch version outputs 720p picture to your big screen.

    Nov 25, 2019
A great game is still a great game and this port is an absolute minimum to enjoy it. I only wonder what kind of audience is it really aimed at. [13/2019, p.80]
  45. Oct 29, 2019
The Witcher 3 for Switch is a marvellous port that makes some smart sacrifices to graphics and performance to translate a fantastic game in a downgraded but highly playable action-RPG.
  46. Oct 21, 2019
Most importantly, everything about The Witcher’s design, from combat to writing to world-building is so tight, so beautifully handled that it’s easy to forget the graphical short-comings of the Switch version.
  47. Oct 21, 2019
The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch turns out to be another incarnation of the franchise ready to kidnap you without making you understand how, where and when. A game that knows how to excite and fascinate its players.
  48. Oct 21, 2019
Long-time Witcher fans will have a blast reliving their adventures on the go, while those who have yet to step into the hunting boots, luscious locks and scruffed beard of Geralt of Rivia, have the perfect opportunity to get stuck in.
  49. Oct 17, 2019
Saber Interactive has set a new standard for Switch conversions - now other developers can no longer blame the hardware. It is not a perfect depiction of the earlier versions technically, but that was never really the point. For those who intend to play on the TV, then console or PC versions are preferred. But if you want to carry with you one of the biggest adventures of recent years, there is no doubt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Switch contains everything we loved about Geralt's latest adventure and is the ultimate proof that the game has unbelievably more substance than just a detailed world.
  50. Oct 14, 2019
A bittersweet compromise, a conversion that heavily sacrifices resolution, general and textures, to preserve all its essence.
  51. Oct 14, 2019
The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch is a miracle. Despite some technical limitations and a "cinematic" frame rate, playing in portable mode seems almost hard to believe.
  52. Oct 14, 2019
The Witcher 3: Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch may not look as good as its PS4, X1 and PC counterparts, but it's still a blast to play and one of the best RPGs of this generation.
  53. Oct 14, 2019
The Switch port of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition certainly isn’t how I’d recommend you experience CD Projekt Red’s epic fantasy masterpiece for the first time, but it’s serviceable if you’re unable to play on PC or a more powerful console — or prefer to do your monster hunting away from a TV. On a full-size screen, however, it suffers to the point where it looks more reminiscent of the 360 generation than the current one.
  54. Oct 14, 2019
It's the full The Witcher 3 experience on Switch. Saber Interactive was forced to cut down plenty of graphics, but the whole experience is smooth and enjoyable. If you've never played The Witcher 3, it's a must.
  55. Oct 14, 2019
Despite its compromises, The Witcher 3 is still a breathtaking adventure and the best RPG for Nintendo Switch till now.
  56. Oct 24, 2019
The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt is finally on Switch with all the content available. While the price to pay is a severe downgrade in the graphics, at least the framerate is still playable.
  57. Oct 15, 2019
Even if it’s one of the console’s better ports, the Nintendo Switch version really isn't the way to experience Wild Hunt.
  58. Oct 14, 2019
    Quotation forthcoming.
  59. Oct 14, 2019
Poor port of a great game. At least it has all the content released to date in that tiny cartridge and is very much enjoyed in portable mode.
  60. Dec 16, 2020
The Witcher 3 should at least be experienced for its good attributes, but you must be prepared for any frustrations. It is a game that bets a large part of its chips on the narrative and the world, so players more used to well-polished mechanics will be surprised.
  61. 70
The Witcher 3 tells an excellent story and offers a massive, epic adventure, but the compromises made to this Switch version mean that this is a (significantly) lesser version of one of the most respected blockbusters out there. In doing that, a little of the magic and prestige behind The Witcher itself has been scrubbed away.
  62. 70
The Witcher 3 looks pretty bad on the Switch, but it's still an incredible RPG that shouldn't be missed if this the only way to play it.
  63. Oct 14, 2019
It's a great thing to have The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch. Players will be able to (re)discover one the best games of the past years - with its two expansions- and take it everywhere they want. If you're not too disappointed by the visual downgrade, a needed sacrifice in order to have it running quite smoothly, and don't try it on a TV, on which it's painful to watch, everything is going to be fine Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and this epic and engaging dark fantasy adventure.
  64. Oct 14, 2019
A well-functioning port of a brilliant game with an unexpected identity crisis. Given the availability of other platforms, the visual compromise makes this technical marvel a difficult sell to first-timers and veterans.
  65. Oct 28, 2019
Should you play The Witcher 3? Absolutely. It’s one of a handful of games from the past decade that you simply can’t miss. Should you play The Witcher 3 on the Switch? Honestly, probably not.

I don't mean to say Witcher 3 is unplayable or ruined by the effort spent getting it into Switch-compatible shape. However, completely new players should be warned that CDPR's cinematic vision for the game is compromised just enough to take this port out of my running for a clear-cut recommendation. If you've already played Witcher 3 and want an excuse to burn through it anew on the go, complete with convenient "fast forward to the expansions" shortcuts, then yes, this port is a great reason to return to Nilfgaard. If you don't have any other consoles or a decent gaming PC, then "Switcher 3" is absolutely playable.
  2. Oct 22, 2019
We often – perhaps unfairly – think of portable mobile games as inferior to ‘proper’ games. In the past, it’s only really Nintendo that has managed to make handheld games feel as big and expansive as what you can play on PS4 or Xbox, with the only exceptions being previous generation games like Skyrim being ported into handheld form. Switcher is a big and bold challenge to that notion, and it should be commended as such.
  3. Oct 14, 2019
The Witcher III is unquestionably one of the best games to come out within the last five years, and it's still impressive four years after its release. Yes, the Switch version sacrifices some of its beauty for the ability to take it on the go, but it's still a reasonably pretty game, well worth exploring for the deep gameplay, mature storytelling, and unique world. If you haven't yet experienced The Wild Hunt, then the Complete Edition on Switch is a great opportunity to check it out. [Impressions]
  4. Oct 16, 2019
It works really quite well. Obvious graphical compromises have been made, but it runs nicely, retains the sheer volume of content, and maintains a consistent stability. While mostly a novelty for those who already played it, it's an adequate Switch version for those who haven't.
  5. Oct 14, 2019
While there are certainly a few tradeoffs that have been made in order to make The Witcher 3 run on the Switch, it’s hard not to be impressed. This is arguably one of the most comprehensive experiences to date on the Switch and one I still can’t believe actually works on the console. Though there’s a few caveats, The Witcher 3 on Switch is well worthy of your time, whether it’s is your first chance to play it or your twenty-third.
