The Nintendo Switch version of Torchlight II is excellent.

At its heart, this game asks a lot of you. For some people (like me!), the toll is freely paid. For others, the boon of hours and tough calls will be too steep to part with. At least, I can confirm that your fond memories of grinding for loot and facing off against the hordes are wholly intact. Torchlight 2 is easily as good as you remember. I lost hours and days to this game with a blink. Whether you’re looking for a new ARPG, or just a little more time with an old favorite, Torchlight 2 won’t let you down.

Torchlight II is a superb addition to your library and an absolute blast alone or with friends.

A fantastically designed hack-n-slash RPG that kept me enthralled for hours on end. It fits right at home on the Nintendo Switch with its colorful, exciting, and inviting world that made it a pleasure to explore, but it was let down by its lack of local co-op features which really is a crying shame for a game of this kind.

Torchlight II is a cleverly designed game which is decidedly good at what it does – even if it is following a fundamentally flawed design philosophy. Its gameplay is compulsive and honestly a little bit vapid: the incessant grind and push forward is neither intellectually stimulating nor conducive to big, memorable moments. My time through Torchlight II is really just a blur of primary colours and explosions of gibs. If that’s what you need, and you’re able to look past the very deliberate shortcomings, then this will be a game that you will find hard to put down.

A great port of a fantastic game, Torchlight 2 still holds up as a great example of an ARPG dungeon-crawler that is unfortunately plagued by some annoying bugs and control scheme limitations.

Torchlight is a good portage of a still good game, and it's great to play it everywhere on your Switch. But unfortunately, it lacks a local multiplayer mode on one console.

It's my first ARPG on console, I played Torchlite 2 on PC and can say, that inventory management is good. After one hour playing I'm used to it.

UI overhaul for handheld is nicely done. My only complaints are that the “charge” system is unexplained per class, inventory management is inconvenient (you can’t sell items in your pet’s bag while at a vendor, have to manually move it all over first) and basic attack targeting is hit-or-miss (badum-tss) in its implementation. Bought D3 numerous times in numerous platforms it's a blast. Also went for D1 redo and that was sweet. I was enticed to download Torchlight 1 redo with promises of a D1 type experience but I didn't. Saw that T2 hit switch and bought it... For only $20 no less. As others have mentioned mentioned D3 has wayyy to much content at your point and I just don't have time to catch up with it. Loving T2 it's new, I can play handheld while I watch football or my woman watches her shows. it's fast fun and runs super clean. No couch play unfortunately but the local multiplayer works perfectly and most people I know have a Switch and $20. Still nothing out there like Diablo 2. Expand

The reworked controls for the switch buttons is great and easy to learn. However there are some issues that have been present since day one. Sometimes The game will kick you out of single player for no reason stating a connection error. this also happens when leaving the game idle for about 4-5 minutes, This means the game is not so easy to just pick up and play if you wanna go do something else. Your switch screen can be on and if you dont input anything on the controls for 4-5 minutes it kicks you to the main menu for no reason and this is in single player mode. The developers have stated that this is being patched, So I will update my review if the patch is implemented.

    PROS

    - Fun gameplay
    - Easy controls
    - Lots of content for the money
    - Easy for new ARGP fans

    CONS

    - Framerate can slow down in large battles
    - Game kicks you out of single player sessions if you stay idle for too long
