In Transcripted players take control of the Nano Probe, a microscopic apparatus used to combat disease. With the aid of a skill tree that improves ship equipment, health, shields and the Nano Probe's arsenal of upgradeable weapons, players must successfully navigate through hordes of deadly pathogens to destroy the disease's pseudo-DNA as it twines perilously on its endless path to infection. Along the way players must defeat gigantic boss colonies the pathogen has evolved with the sole purpose of stopping the Nano Probe from completing its mission. Difficulty levels of both puzzle and shooting segments can be adjusted independently to suit every play style, making Transcripted an incredibly replayable experience. Expand

Transcripted is exactly the kind of new and interesting concept that services like the eShop are built for, doing a very good job of getting the most out of that concept. This fusion of two very played-out genres creates an experience that’s far more engaging than you would think it should be, and adds another strong title to the Switch eShop.

Transcripted successfully blends two compelling genres together to create an experience like no other. It's somewhat held back by a rather lacklustre narrative, but the gameplay will keep you hooked for hours.

Transcripted is one of the few basic puzzle games that manages to shake up its model and give the player a more unique experience. It's not perfect but, all in all, Transcripted’s gameplay, visuals and soundtrack do their job well in delivering a simple but fun experience on the Switch eShop.

Featuring much more of a plot than its peers, Transcripted can start feeling repetitive after a while, despite its interesting concept, but that shouldn't put away those looking for something rather original.

A twin-stick shooter and a puzzle game don't seem like they would work together, but Transcripted takes them and gives a good go at it, while remaining flexible enough for both veterans and newcomers of both to make it accessible and rewarding to play. Transcripted is one of those games that come out of smashing together two wildly different genres–in this case, match-3 puzzles and twin-stickTranscripted is one of those games that come out of smashing together two wildly different genres–in this case, match-3 puzzles and twin-stick shooters. The mix works well enough, but never perfectly. The two souls of Transcripted always feel slightly at odds with each other, giving it the feeling of novelty for novelty's sake.

Transcripted also suffers from other issues. It crashed on me a couple of times during my playthrough. It has uneven difficulty, with some levels that are much harder than others. Finally, it suffers from overwritten (and thankfully skippable) dialogues that add up to a cliched story with very flat characters and a final twist that will make you yawn.

Even with all those shortcomings, however, Transcripted is still good. It was clearly crafted with care, and almost each level introduces some new element to the game. The skill tree adds to the game's diversity. I was never exalted by Transcripted, but I didn't regret downloading it and playing it to the end.
