Tunic boasts satisfying and challenging combat, as well as a beautiful world rich with hidden treasures and forgotten knowledge, and revels in slowly giving players the pieces they need to explore its every corner. A delightfully colourful visual language and a beautifully wistful soundtrack also help, bringing everything to life with earnest energy that delivers a sense of childlike wonder that very few games can achieve.

If you enjoy action-adventures and don’t mind a game that isn’t big on going easy on the player, you should give TUNIC a look. It’s gorgeous, clever, challenging, and simply a joy to pick away at. While it is quite difficult by default, there is an impressive number of options for those who want to tailor the game to their preferences. This Switch port, while obviously not quite up to the versions on other platforms from a technical standpoint, is very good and more than capable of delivering the experience to players. Really something special.

TUNIC surprises by bringing back what we love most about The Legend of Zelda and wraps it with an ingenious puzzle that will make us feel that we are in front of the great classic adventure games.

You’d be wrong to assume the cute fox-like protagonist and colourful world implies Tunic is a relaxing little adventure for all ages – it’s anything but. Tunic requires a lot of intuitive thinking and patience to navigate its beautiful world with its brilliant in-game instruction manual. Coupled with an unforgiving combat system that punishes impatience and rewards measured study of opponents, Tunic is a game designed for those versed in old-school adventuring and experienced in difficult, sometimes frustrating swordplay. Given all this and its evident Hylian inspirations, and even with some unfortunate performance hitches and obvious downgrades from the versions on other platforms, Tunic feels right at home on a Nintendo console and we recommend it as a creative and concise adventure that both draws and expands upon some prestigious inspirations.

I finished this game and I literally applauded because it was such a masterpiece. I have to admit at the end I did cheat a bit because I wasI finished this game and I literally applauded because it was such a masterpiece. I have to admit at the end I did cheat a bit because I was like I'm not going to do all that stuff to get to that true ending. But everything else I managed on my own. Such a fabulous, fabulous, fabulous game. I give high high praise to the developers of this game and I hope they release something else like it again in the future. Just what a Marvel. I have tears in my eyes just so glorious. Thank you so much! Expand
