Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Remastered is the best possible way to experience this N64 classic, either on your TV or in Handheld/Tabletop Mode (where it performs flawlessly). Turok influenced a lot of first-person shooters that came after it, and it’s still very enjoyable in 2018—thanks in large part to Night Dive’s boatload of options. You don’t wind up hunting a lot of dinosaurs, but you do manage to fight a Dimetrodon that has a minigun strapped to its back, which makes up for a lot.

If you've never played Turok: Dinosaur Hunter before and wondered what all the fuss is about then this is one of the best ways to enjoy it. The gyroscope controls make the frustrating parts of the games almost go away and you're left with an unapologetically 90s first-person shooter that's still a lot of fun, despite still being very awkward. Not just one for fans of the era.

There's no denying that Turok: Dinosaur Hunter has aged a lot in the last two-plus decades, but the fact it also holds up so well is a testament to the work of that small Iguana team and the effort Nightdive Studios has put it bringing this interactive time capsule to life. The lack of a proper story, inability to manually save your progress and sheer open nature of its level design will be something of a shock to players less experienced with the shooters of yore, but with a lick of new paint and some welcome motion controls, this piece of interactive history gets to live again on Nintendo hardware. It's arguably more interesting as a piece of history than it is an FPS shooter in 2019, but Turok is still worth a look if you're a fan of the genre.

Turok has aged quite a bit, which is natural. Therefore, it’s not going to be for everyone. A 22-year-old FPS never will, because it’s a genre that has moved on massively over time. However, for those that want a blast from the past, you will still love it just as much as you did back then. If you have never played Turok before and you want to experience a game that genuinely advanced the shooter genre when it first released, while you are obviously not going to feel the same love for it, you will still have tons of fun as it is still a very enjoyable shooter.

Turok's remaster for the Nintendo Switch brings one of the first Nintendo 64 classics to the contemporary age and for a game that is over twenty years old, the work done here is competent and well executed and it improves on some key aspects that needed to be updated. While this does not intend to reinvent the game, this remaster can both appeal to fans of the original game and to those curious about the early days of console first-person shooters.

The gameplay here is satisfying enough to feel like it was worth your hard-earned cash, although I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is looking for a game with all the elements of a modern day game–you will not find that here.

I noticed some acute differences with this version one of which is it's much much more difficult. In a sense, it's like seeing if you're as good as you remember being at gaming. Best soundtrack to any game. Ever. Long live the Campaigner! Expand

To anyone who liked it, but is afraid to get it cause who knows how the controls are? The controls are great, get it.
