The issue i have is everything else about the game that has either been downgraded or removed from previous iterations. I have played MANY versions from the phenomenal Wii version to the basic but very enjoyable PC versions.
Let's start with all the cons
First and foremost: the input lag. It is EVERYWHERE. From pressing an action to the action actually occurring is about one second or two seconds. It might not sound like a lot, but it adds up fairly quickly and creates a very slow experience that the other games simply did not have. The game has seriously issues with lag on even the menues that take forever to load.
Second: profiles. In the Wii edition, up to ten players could have a profile linked to their Mii. This way everyone could keep track of their stats and progress! It worked extremely well. Sadly, this is not present AT ALL in the Switch version. Who made that decision? Instead, only the Switch gets the profile and nobody else can add theirs or track their stats... at least not without shelling out for other copies for online play. Classic Ubisoft. This disappointed me and my entire family.
Third: The host is ANNOYING and the board girl is SLOW. The host is one of those guys who thinks he's funny and just will NOT be quiet. The board girl walks like she has a ball-and-chain on her ankle making the letter-guessing experience extremely slow.
Fourth: Too many interruptions. Whenever your character does something right or wrong, you see it as a little cinematic. Problem is with the input lag, it makes them practically unskippable. The interruptions are plentiful and it gets old fast.
Fifth: No failsafe for passing. I can't tell you how many times i accidentally pressed the PASS button during the final round when I knew the puzzle. No chance to confirm. Just ends it. Terrible UX design.
Okay, now onto the PROS.
First: It looks and feels like Wheel of Fortune. The updated look still plays and feels like wheel.
Second: Customization is off the hook (To a fault). You get a lot more to do with the characters, the stage, the hosts, and even the wheel this time around so there's at least plenty to unlock. Although I hate how you can't make the wheel randomized each game. You always know what's going to be on the wheel. I do find it cool you can edit the wheel a tad, but the idea that we can always know the prizes is a bit saddening. Otherwise, you get a TON of rewards for playing the game so at least there's something to earn.
I have to give this game a low rating purely because everything else weighs down what should be a very simple Wheel of Fortune game. So much has been added or detracts from what made the previous Wii version so good that i have no choice but to give it a low score.… Expand
