Nintendo Force MagazineNov 9, 2022I began XC3 knowing I'd enjoy it because of the fun I had with the previous games. What I didn't expect was for this to become one of my favorite JPRGs of all-time! With its engaging open world, engrossing combat system, loveable characters and gripping story, this game is a masterpiece of the genre! [Issue #62 – November/December 2022, p. 67]
-
Sep 19, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is as close to gaming perfection as you’ll get on the Nintendo Switch. If the story doesn’t grip you, the combat, landscapes, mechanics, or soundtrack surely will. Monolith Soft, take a bow!
-
Sep 15, 2022Immensely vast worlds, a set of complex but carefully managed gameplay mechanics, an amazing cast of characters, and a thrilling plot that will grab the player's attention from the first moment and coupled with a beautiful and exquisite audiovisual environment all contribute to make this one of the most magnificent games to come out on the Nintendo Switch.
-
Sep 2, 2022Everything from characters, soundtrack, story and voice acting is absolutely stellar. If you can get past the outdated graphics, all I can promise you is that this game hits like a truck and charms like a beautiful sunset. There’s no doubt about it, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is truly a masterpiece, and I’m very curious where the folks at Monolith Soft will be going next with the series.
-
Aug 26, 2022It's big, bigger, biggest for Xenoblade chronicles 3. It's all the more galling that the game manages to captivate from start to finish. An unadulterated epic adventure.
-
Aug 25, 2022Already one of the prime RPG properties out there, Nintendo and Monolith Soft have somehow contrived to take Xenoblade Chronicles even higher. It’s clear that the studio has taken on board what has worked and what hasn’t from the previous titles, while still looking to inject fresh ideas. The great ambition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is backed up with superb execution across the board as all of the elements work together to put players at the centre of another stunning experience.
-
Aug 21, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has its flaws like any other game. However, its qualities more than make up for them, bringing a beautiful JRPG experience like none other before seen in the series. The Class system is varied and fun to experiment with, the story is one of the best in the series history, and the aesthetic and production values are incredibly high. This game offers tons of content that will keep you glued to your Nintendo Switch and last a long time.
-
Aug 16, 2022It’s, quite simply, one of the best titles on the Nintendo Switch, and one of the top role-playing games of 2022.
-
Aug 15, 2022JRPGs do not get better than this. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is Nintendo's finest to date and a must-play for fans of the genre. The moving story, delightful characters and deep, thrilling gameplay loop set this apart as a title that transcends the sum of its parts. There's so much to see and do and such a powerful story to be told, and it's all perfectly pieced together to result in a title that impresses on every level.
-
Aug 9, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the strongest JRPG in the modern Nintendo catalog, and is among the greatest games on the Nintendo Switch, and can potentially stand the test of time when considered among other platforms and generations as well. It's a complex, emotional journey, where you and the characters will confront challenging themes and philosophical ideas, and see them through to their respective cathartic conclusions.
-
Aug 5, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 explores change and stasis, and what kind of impact you can have on the world in a short time span. As the most recent addition to a trilogy itself only just over a decade old, this game – and the franchise at large – seem set to leave a lasting legacy, well beyond the end credits.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is itself and loudly. It is what it is without a hint of doubt. It’s the perfect videogame, inasmuch as it takes everything that makes the series special and turns it up louder, down darker. It does what it wants.
-
Jul 26, 2022Though it borrows and evolves many of its foundations from other previous titles, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 finds numerous ways to distinguish itself from the rest. Its battle system has an ocean of depth, but it is genuinely fun to experiment with all the options it provides to players. I think the title is perfectly fine as a standalone experience to newcomers, but returning Xenoblade players will certainly be rewarded in several ways. For those that have stuck with Executive Director Tetsuya Takahashi’s grand Xeno project since Xenogears, there are numerous winks and nods in store for them too. I strongly believe that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a modern JRPG masterpiece.
-
Jul 26, 2022What Monolith Soft has achieved with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 went far beyond my expectations. The developer’s masterful approach to character development and world-building results in an unforgettable adventure that is set in a world that is just as remarkable to explore. It is the emotional storytelling that makes it an unmissable journey that’s worth undertaking, elevating the experience to not only be considered as a Game of the Year contender but an all-time classic that will be remembered for decades to come.
-
Jul 26, 2022Monolith Soft has crafted a JRPG that is so colossal yet also intricately focused. It delivers an experience that iterates upon everything its predecessors managed to achieve, resulting in a masterpiece that I am utterly enraptured by. Part of me feels like I’m still stewing in a cauldron of hyperbole, but in terms of characters, themes, and a world that I never want to leave behind - this is the series at its very best, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
-
Jul 26, 2022We found Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to be a timeless gem that will go down in history as one of the greatest JRPGs ever made. Its beautiful story, great gameplay and beautiful visuals make it a must-have for anyone. A flawless game for a legendary saga.
-
Jul 26, 2022Taken by itself, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a spectacular example of an epic JRPG. Yes, the combat system is a little too overcooked for its own good, but the developer holds your hand nicely so that by the 40th hour the explosion of numbers, flashy attacks, and intertwined systems somehow makes sense. Aside from that, though, it’s a game that, for its size, is one of elegance and maturity. And that’s when you take it by itself. Philosophical, humorous, emotional, dramatic and always entertaining, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is going to be better remembered not for being its own entity, but rather like the third chapter in any great trilogy; as the perfect escalation to an enormously satisfying and appropriately epic conclusion.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a genuine masterpiece and the highlight of Monolith Soft's superb series thus far. There's an emotionally-charged and surprisingly edgy epic to get stuck into here, a sprawling and hugely engaging narrative populated by a cast of unforgettable characters that's backed up by some of the very best combat we've had the pleasure of getting to grips with in this genre to date. Over 100 hours into this one, we're as captivated now as we were when we first booted it up and it has more than delivered every bit of the adventure, emotion, and action that its signature start screen promised it might. Aionios awaits, it's time to seize the future.
-
Jul 26, 2022At its core, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a story of the pursuit of freedom and the endless possibilities of the future - and as a game, it's the embodiment of that theme, with an unrestrictive world and a blueprint for how to build a masterpiece JRPG moving forward.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 reflects all of the maturity accumulated throughout the last 12 years by a franchise that struggled to survive since its very first game, which was released by Nintendo in the West only after fan petitions. The game streamlines the action, gets rid of juvenile erotization and tells a story with heroes that talk like actual human beings, while simultaneously refining the exploration and world-building that already shone in its predecessors.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 delivers a massive world, and more than enough story and character to fill it, combined with the series’ most reactive combat system to date. While certainly a monster commitment, Aionios is an incredible place to live for a month or two.
-
Jul 26, 2022There’s no such thing as a perfect video game, but for me, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes as close to perfect as you can get. It’s a thoughtful, charming, sombre experience, punctuated by expertly-crafted moments of joy and wonder that come together to leave a lasting impression that sticks with you long after you put down the controller. I don’t know what the future holds for the Xenoblade series, but I do know that, with Xenoblade Chronicles 3, it’s leaving a wonderful legacy in gaming.
-
Jul 26, 2022The growth that Monolith Soft has had since it was acquired by Nintendo is something that should be highlighted much more frequently, because in addition to becoming a key part of the present and future of The Legend of Zelda, they have taken the banner of the avant-garde of the Japanese role, not an easy task to execute. The way in which the multiple layers that make up Xenoblade Chronicles 3 were placed is the result of the meticulous work of authentic craftsmen who are passionate about what they do. Each piece, each element, each point of this new game has a purpose and a reason for being. Nothing exists just to exist. An epic story that has shaken us in different ways, endearing characters, super complex and super satisfying combat and class system, a titanic open world full of things to discover, impressive cinematics and in general, a very clear logic in everything it presents , make Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a true masterpiece, one that in my dictionary, should be fighting yes or yes for the title of best game of the year and of course, as one of the greatest exclusives that the Nintendo Switch has, matter which, as we all know, is a lot to say. Monolith has ratified its place within the elite of the medium.
-
Aug 15, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a reminder that “good enough” isn’t good enough. Takahashi and the rest of his team could have relied on doing the same thing they’ve always done. Heck, they’ve already revolutionized the genre once. Instead, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is no revolution; it results from listening to what doesn’t work, tirelessly working to do better, and knocking it out of the park. Put simply, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a masterpiece, and one of the finest games the genre has to offer.
-
Oct 4, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is big, bold and broad in all fronts. It’s captivating narrative gives endless purposes to the gamer and tells a different tale this time around. Although it uses many anime style shenanigans here it has a very uniqe premise about regret, hope, meaning of going on and of course friendship. The music, deep class system, breathtaking locales and general production quality is top notch and I really liked how it’s big big world captives my soul and never ever a borefest. This is easily the best game in the long running series and one the best JRPG’s all time.
-
Sep 27, 2022Despite a few issues, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a remarkable achievement that evolves the series formula in exciting ways, all the while weaving an emotionally charged story that is sure to be remembered for a long time to come. It makes a strong case not just as one of the best games of the year but as one of the best of all time.
-
Aug 31, 2022One of those video games that kicks the board and changes the rules. One of those experiences that leaves you thinking all the time when you're not operating your controls. Is that called a masterpiece? For me, without a doubt.
-
Aug 31, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the best Xenoblade game and an essential for any Switch owner despite its few flaws. With Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy is Nintendo Switch's crown jewel.
-
Aug 12, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 gracefully fuses story and gameplay in a masterful conclusion to the Claus saga. It draws from earlier games in ways that will satisfy long time fans, while also firmly establishing its own world and characters. Aionios is a beautiful world to explore, with a rich history and fascinating conflict. The characters that stand at the center of this tale are some of the deepest, most relatable people in gaming history with a fantastic english dub backing them up. This is a game that will keep you engaged for hundreds of hours, and even stick with you well after.
-
Aug 8, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was a huge delight to me, easily taking the top spot in my favorite Xenoblade games. It hits so many marks that its flaws can be considered minimal. The cast is likeable, the gameplay is fun and engaging, the world is great to explore, and it is one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. While not flawless, the flaws it does have are forgivable or potentially patched, and you certainly get your money's worth. JRPG fans should absolutely give Xenoblade 3 a try, as it's a pure delight.
-
Aug 3, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a massive undertaking that hits some extremely high points while only presenting a few issues like the performance struggles at times due to the Switch’s limitations. I fell in love with the cast almost immediately, and I can’t wait to see their stories progress in future DLC. This is a game that is going to sit with me for years and is a very serious Game of the Year contender.
-
Jul 26, 2022Underneath all of the pyrotechnics is a tale that deals with life, death, and the meaning one can find or cling to. Xenoblade’s story is also as fun as it is heavy and heartfelt, as sad and somber as it is cinematic and action-packed. With a cast of series-best characters and some of the best exploration and combat to boot - it’s hard not to look at Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as anything but a game of the year contender.
-
Jul 26, 2022This is one of the best JRPGs released in the past few years, and a must-have for Switch owners.
-
Jul 26, 2022Massive even more than the phenomenal second episode of the trilogy, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is one of the best JRPGs of recent years.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the perfect sequel, the best and most well-rounded entry of the franchise. Even if it was kind of tough to connect with the story at times, I also believe the game boasts the best narrative that Monolith Soft has worked on yet. To put it simply: it is the best JRPG on Nintendo Switch.
-
Jul 26, 2022The cast, the weight of the story, and the freedom of party composition are the power trio that won me over.
-
Aug 1, 2022Even though Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is so long that it could take hundreds of hours to explore every part of the world, it still has a magic that allows people to settle down and take their time to listen to the story it tells. It can say that the excellent world design and complex but fun combat together shaped Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to be the most unique sort of experience in JRPG.
-
Jul 26, 2022Almost every decision seems aimed at paving the way as much as possible, to pushing us always forward. To marvel us with its landscapes and intrigue us with its conflicts. It's what makes Xenoblade a compelling franchise, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 more than lives up to it.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a masterpiece, and I'm not used to using the term too lightly. It has a magnetic plot, is supported by a successful cast and the audiovisual presentation literally sparkles, enhancing Switch as rarely before. If you love Japanese RPGs, you have to have far more serious problems than those that plague Aionios to get rid of it.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is one of the games of the year. There are moments that will make you laugh, get involved with what's happening... And also cry. The combat adds layers in a tremendously effective way throughout the many hours of gameplay, while the exploration and pacing of the title never fail to take totally effective turns. Perhaps it could have risked a little more in a couple of moments, which would make it rise to the Olympus of J-RPGs, but it is still one of the best titles of this genre in recent years.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 combines all the good things from previous games into one colossal, complex and (almost) infinite JRPG that we aren't going to forget anytime soon.
-
Sep 6, 2022Although the true potential of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 feels held back by the limitations of the Switch’s hardware, developer Monolithsoft has clearly taken all of the lessons and experiences that they’ve accumulated over the years and crafted a gem that even Riku the Nopon would consider priceless.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the JRPG to get you through this summer (and fall). The worlds are bigger and more adventurous and the gameplay has been made more accessible in almost every area, without losing depth. A JRPG that reminded me why I love the genre so much.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 starts slow and shy but then bursts into one of the finest JRPG experiences we ever had the pleasure to enjoy.
-
Aug 1, 2022Be prepared for a game riddled with opportunities to build the best flippin’ ensemble that you can build. Take that team and exist in a beautiful world for more hours than is conventionally reasonable. Experience one of the best stories I have ever had the privilege to experience in a JRPG.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the pinnacle of more than twenty years making extraordinary JRPGS from Monolith Soft. Not even Switch hardware limitations could restrain tetsuya Takahashi's vision. Long live this way of making games, long live Monolith Soft.
-
Jul 26, 2022While not reinventing the genre, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 stands out as one of its most valuable exponents-a truly remarkable game.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 continues the series' grand-scale story-telling in a masterful way. With its endearing cast of characters, awe-inspiring sense of exploration, and a soundtrack that will blow you away, this is yet another top-notch offering from Monolith Soft.
-
Oct 11, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a clear improvement over its predecessors in almost every way. It streamlines so much and avoids past pitfalls, though there’s still work to be done in terms of balancing the difficulty. There’s a grounded story here with a solid cast of characters, and the basic plot is much easier to digest. The world design exceeds past efforts with ease, and the implementation of Hero Quests is a game changer. While the devs have done an admirable job making the battle system easier to grasp, it feels like the series has fully explored and exhausted these core combat mechanics, signaling it’s time for the next game to change things up. As a whole, it stands as a phenomenal RPG with a one-of-a-kind sense of exploration you can’t find anywhere else.
-
Sep 1, 2022The massive world and intricate real-time battle system of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 may seem daunting even by JRPG standards, but both are easy to get into. It’s not my favorite Xenoblade Chronicles game, but I can say with certainty I enjoyed nearly every battle, plot twist, and Nopon I encountered in the 140+ hours I’ve put into it (so far).
-
Aug 23, 2022A great continuation of the venerated series. It has good combat, interesting characters, finely crafted dialogues and movie-like sequences that breathe life into the story.
-
Aug 23, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 gives us an almost perfect combination of entertaining gameplay and an engaging story to deliver a game that cannot be missing from the collection of Nintendo Switch owners.
-
Aug 18, 2022While it doesn’t end as well as it starts, that doesn’t ultimately change how much I love Xenoblade Chronicles 3. With fantastic characters, deep combat, and an enormous world to explore, it was more than worth pushing through those final hours to see the ending to one of my favorite RPGs in years. Monolith Soft have the Xenoblade series back on the right path, and I can’t wait to see where they go next. I just hope next time they have the confidence to end their game when it’s ready to end.
-
Aug 17, 2022With over 70 hours of playtime—a lot more if you want to unlock everything the game has to offer—Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a hearty game that gives you a lot to chew on. Play it for yourself and the game will reward you with an emotional story, lovable characters, and a soundtrack that will stick with you longer than it took to see the credits roll.
-
Aug 16, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the best game in the series yet, and despite a few issues like burying the player in tutorials and some story bits that could have been handled better, the game is a real treat for RPG fans. There’s more to do and more reasons to do it, and whether you’re coming off one or both of the previous games or jumping in fresh, you’ll find a suitably epic adventure waiting for you.
-
Aug 16, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a game that almost suffers from its own perfection — every individual idea really is a perfect combo of the lessons learned from Xenoblade 1 and 2. But together, it can’t quite maintain a consistent quality. These are some of the highest highs the series has ever given me, but the occasional lows make for a game that’s only ever so slightly flawed to perfectly work.
-
Aug 14, 2022The best one in the series, one of the best JRPGs on the Nintendo Switch and one of the best games of 2022. The main Xenoblade Chronicles saga ends with a bang, or better yet, a beautiful melody.
-
Aug 14, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has taken the best of JRPGs and Western RPGs and has created a title worth any gamer’s attention. Monolith Soft continues to innovate with gameplay while retaining the heart and soul of one of Nintendo’s flagship franchises. With a crazy world, and an even crazier story to boot, if you have a Switch and aren’t playing this, you’re missing out on one of the most polished RPGs of this generation.
-
Aug 12, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 brings the end of an era to the Xenoblade Chronicles series, with players only guessing what could come next. It is a game that is a sentimental roller coaster from its first moments to its last ones; a game that praises human life, feelings and relationships and gives players loads of food for thought and consideration. Despite some minor setbacks, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 offers a more compact battle system, a cast of wonderful characters and a world full of secrets and open to exploration.
-
Aug 8, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the strongest entry into the series yet, while simultaneously managing to bridge the themes and mechanics of the first two games in a meaningful way. Even after the credits roll close to the 60-hour mark, each of the character’s personal journeys are fulfilling and memorable, while contending with heavier subject matter than the series has been known for.
-
Aug 7, 2022This epic adventure is the culmination of the series. The world is vast and filled with combat sequences while also providing an engaging plot to suck you in.
-
Aug 5, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a glorious package, tightly integrated and thoroughly compelling.
-
Aug 3, 2022Overall, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is arguably the best game in the series and builds upon the prior entries in both a deft and quite magnificent way. Much of the performance issues seen in prior games have been resolved and the game itself is very enjoyable to play. It may seem somewhat of an enormous undertaking but the world of Aionios has a lot to offer to curious and somewhat patient players.
-
Aug 1, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is one of the best JRPGs of this year for Nintendo Switch. It maintains some unique characteristics and also receives some improvements that are quite welcome. It is a massive game in every way, it will keep us close to 100 hours of play without any waste.
-
Jul 29, 2022Is it massive entertaining RPG that doesn't disappoint? Indeed. It fulfills all expectations with excellent story, lot of dilemmas, well-written characters, vast world and plenty of activities and combat. Fans can be satisfied again and newcomers could give it a shot, finally.
-
Jul 27, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a versatile JRPG with a deep combat system; a challenge in his own right, without being frustrating. A technical marvel with beautiful landscapes, that will make you get lost in the ecosystems of Aionios while being immersed in the story and his characters. Monolith Soft's most ambitious game to date; a must have for Nintendo Switch owners and JRPGs enthusiasts.
-
Jul 26, 2022I had an incredible amount of fun when playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. This game is worth being mentioned next to the biggest and best titles in the genre and is one of the best exclusive Switch games ever.
-
Jul 26, 2022There may be no titans in it, but Xenoblade Chronicles 3 manages to stand head and shoulders above its predecessors. The gripping story and the almost perfected gameplay complement each other in a sublime way, thanks in part to a strong cast and a renewed and improved combat system.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 combines aspects from the previous games and features a lot of details without excluding people who haven’t played them yet. Aside from the mediocre graphics and some other issues it’s one of the best JRPGs available for Nintendo Switch.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an absolute must-buy for Switch owners who are looking to pick up their next game. No matter if you’re a longtime fan of the franchise or a first-timer, this game is one of the best RPGs on the Switch that can easily last hundreds of hours for players who never want to leave the world of Aionios.
-
Jul 26, 2022With Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the Nintendo Switch welcomes a new essential role-playing game in its catalog. Far from the lightness of tone of the second episode, the title delivers a captivating scenario, rich in twists and emotions, aided by a beautiful soundtrack. By taking up the basics of the two previous games, the gameplay gains in dynamism and benefits from many effective and complex mechanics, even if the fights suffer from readability problems like the other games in the series. And if the exploration through vast panoramas remains as pleasant as ever, this pleasure is still affected by a technique which displays visual shortcomings on several occasions. Not enough to spoil this memorable adventure exclusive to Nintendo's hybrid console either.
-
Jul 26, 2022Overall, I just can’t recommend Xenoblade Chronicles 3 enough. With the series’ most fleshed-out cast of characters yet, a thoroughly enthralling plot full of exciting twists and turns, rewarding side-content, a breathtaking open-world, and a combat system which is more fun than ever, this is an absolute behemoth of a JRPG that in no way outstays its lengthy runtime. Whether this is your first introduction to the series, or the instalment you’ve been anxiously anticipating for the last five years, you’re going to have an amazing time.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the best playing game in the series. It is challenging yet excellently paced. I rarely found myself over or underleveled. The world unfolds naturally and effectively rather than through tedious field skill gates.
-
Jul 26, 2022Quite frankly, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is unequivocally astonishing in regards to both its gameplay and scope. It’s not only the best game in the series thus far, but also my favorite game of the entire year as of yet. Every second spent in the world of Aionios feels like being a kid in the world’s biggest candy store; from beginning to end, there was never a dull moment. An interesting and complex battle system, exceptionally directed cutscenes, and genuinely well-written characters filled with unique personalities, are just a few of the reasons why I adore this JRPG. I couldn’t be happier that Xenoblade as a franchise has grown in popularity in recent years, as it’s certainly become one of Nintendo’s greatest series thanks to the fantabulously impressive development work by Monolith Soft.
-
Jul 26, 2022While it’s unlikely to transcend genre preferences, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a gift for those who love JRPG trappings. There are lands to explore, combat systems to optimize, and lore implications for longtime franchise fans. And at the very least? You certainly get your money’s worth.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is an exemplary JRPG on the Nintendo Switch, improving on the already great titles that came out before it while still welcoming newcomers.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 takes the best elements from its predecessors and combines them into a uniquely compelling gameplay experience, all while telling a nuanced and captivating narrative of its own. Its beautiful and stylistic art direction lends a rare maturity to its visual presentation, while its heartfelt, melancholic story comes together in an epic, personal conclusion in spite of a couple of odd pacing decisions. Through a complex and refined reimagining of the Xenoblade combat system and top-notch worldbuilding, Monolith Soft have once again cemented their position at the forefront of the JRPG genre. Series veterans and newcomers alike are in for a deep, immersive narrative adventure with dozens of hours of engaging combat and satisfying exploration.
-
Jul 26, 2022Far better than the previous game in the series, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 delivers one of the more satisfying and flexible JRPG experiences ever made and Monolith confirms itself as one hell of (Switch) developer.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 changes things up in a good way, offering a twist on the most unique combat out there. It’s lengthy, engaging, warm, and probably the best RPG of the year. The best one yet, for sure.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is easily the best game in the series and arguably the best modern JRPG experience on the Nintendo Switch. As a title that requires you to devote over 100 hours to it, it has well-polished core mechanics, an unforgettable story and solid characters that will easily keep you engaged for longer.
-
Jul 26, 2022When Xenoblade Chronicles 3 wasn’t bringing a smile to my face, it was breaking my heart over and over again.
-
Jul 26, 2022Another major success for Monolith Soft; Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a contender for the Nintendo Switch’s best role-playing game and one of its most impressive technical achievements.
-
Jul 26, 2022The third installment of Xenoblade becomes the best of the series. It evolves its gameplay, offering a complex and very entertaining JRPG that encourages us to explore its huge world. Its story is sublime and the irregularities in the quality of its animations and sound effects are the only things we can blame about the game as its downsides.
-
Jul 26, 2022The story of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 drags you into an adventure that won't bore you for a second during 70 hours of gameplay. The different characters are varied and all very engaging. The soundtrack is magnificent and the world has a lot to discover and do. The combat also has enough to offer to keep you entertained for a long time and although battles are sometimes a bit too chaotic, this is something you can live with. You do have to take into account a relatively low resolution, but that is mainly due to the hardware. That being said, this is a must-have for the Nintendo Switch that you can buy blindly.
-
Jul 26, 2022The deep and engaging combat, customization, and exploration alongside the excellent music and narrative are all sorts of delicious icing on this cake of an adventure. Whether you’re a newbie to Xenoblade games or have played through the prior games, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 might be one of the better JRPGs to have graced the Xeno franchise throughout its lengthy history.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is another impressive and entertaining RPG experience from Monolith Soft. Its ever-deepening mystery plays out across one of the most beautiful fantasy landscapes of recent years, while its approach to party building and classes means that the experience continually evolves. For a game that asks questions about how you spend your time, you won’t want Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to finish.

Jul 26, 2022It's not perfect, but Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a confident sequel that's best-in-class in the ways that matter most. Your favourite bits of the first two games are here, cherry-picked and placed into a narrative with a tasteful balance of earnest ideas and anime bullshit.
-
Jul 27, 2022Although it is visually behind due to the hardware limitations of Nintendo Switch, it is one of the best JRPG games I have played in recent years.
-
Aug 12, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 once again proved why the series is one of the best JRPGs out there. While inheriting the strengths of its predecessors and converge them into its own uniqueness, it also did not put aside the original elements. However, somewhat boring sequence and endless TIPs at the beginning make the game hard to immerse yourself.
-
Aug 4, 2022Despite some of its flaws, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a highly unique, incredibly entertaining JRPG that provides players with hours of enjoyable content, from its engaging story and endearing characters to its fun, in-depth gameplay mechanics.
-
Jul 26, 2022Epic giant role-playing game that stays true to the tradition of the series and creates a distinctive world that shakes your foundations after umpteen hours of play.
-
Jul 26, 2022Brilliant action-RPG with bombastic, but also excessive film parts. The crazy amount of possibilities in battle can overwhelm.
-
Jul 26, 2022Monolith Soft stays true to the series at its core, but simultaneously puts in more depth. Especially concerning the combat system Xenoblade Chronicles 3 feels trusted to series' lovers, but with all the new mechanics it also takes along players, who did not get warm with the fights. It's not enough for being a masterpiece, but for the best part of the series so far.
-
Aug 5, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a fantastic addition to the franchise even though it takes a good while to get into it. Thanks to amazing combat and a rich story you constantly want to keep playing. It might not be the prettiest open-world game out there, but this JRPG is for sure one of the best titles of the year.
-
Jul 26, 2022Yes, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 would have been better if it had been released on a console other than the Switch. Yes, it should have certainly offered a little less game mechanics in order to become more accessible. Yes, a less overloaded interface would have allowed it to gain in readability. Despite this, it remains the best J-RPG of this summer and a game that should not be missed.
-
Jul 26, 2022Small foibles aside, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 might just be the Switch’s prettiest and grandest game of 2022. With a deep combat system and surprisingly effective story, along with quality of life improvements over the prior game, it’s a true spectacle whether you’re playing in handheld mode or docked. It really is a must-buy for JRPG fans.
-
Aug 22, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a great RPG, and arguably the best title in the series to date. It could still use some editing, and the problems with the Switch itself will continue to hold the franchise back. But even those issues can't put a damper on the captivating combat engine and dynamic storytelling featured here.
-
Sep 2, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 continues the series' tradition of massive maps and intuitive combat, but this time offers a story that elevates the experience to new heights.
-
Aug 22, 2022Xenoblade 3 has high-quality cutscenes, a world worth exploring and a deep combat system. It also fixes some of the issues of previous titles in the series, making this an RPG that both fans and newcomers can enjoy for many hours. It’s too bad that the story ends without giving answers to many of our questions.
-
Aug 16, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has its fair share of rough edges, but look closer, and you'll find a world full of possibility and hope wrapped in a gripping narrative and remarkable combat.
-
Aug 12, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 perfectly combines threads from previous instalments while remaining welcoming to newcomers. It’s based on very enjoyable combat mechanics and offers an interesting world to explore, but it’s a shame that dated graphics and intrusive invisible walls make it look like it was released a few years ago. I’m also disappointed that the developers decided to stick to what worked well twice before instead of making a step forward that the series could use.

Edge MagazineAug 11, 2022Yet if it's messy at times, then these are traits that the game's story tells us are all part of the vivid tapestry that is being human. [Issue#375, p.110]
-
Aug 11, 2022I wanted to like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a lot more than I did as it has a number of faults that made me drift away from it, but in the end it’s an undeniably well-constructed JRPG that succeeds far more than it fails.
-
Aug 7, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is filled with interesting areas to explore, heartfelt character interactions, and an engaging narrative. While having knowledge of the previous games is handy in some respects, this is by and large its own game and can be enjoyed by all players.
-
Jul 26, 2022Overall, a strong RPG packed full of content that’ll last tens of hours. The dialogue is so awful its almost charming, but the visuals more than make up for it and the action frantic and addictive when it really gets going. It may be too overwhelming for some, and the length of the game may put others off. But RPG fans are going to love it and the Switch can now boast of a cracking new title in this genre.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a great action RPG with an outstanding story. The characters are likeable with engaging arcs, while the cut scenes offer jaw-dropping spectacle. Combat is enjoyable enough, although the introduction of larger parties and swappable character classes both have major drawbacks, which can make fighting enemies feel repetitive halfway through this lengthy adventure.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is another great entry in the long-running series. Combat is complex, but well enough explained to readily understand and feels fantastic to play with. It has interesting characters, an intriguing world and an engrossing storyline that had me always wondering what was going to happen next. Whether you're new to the series or a veteran, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is stylish, intriguing, super fun, and well worth checking out for RPG fans.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a satisfying conclusion to the two previous games. It’s a game you devour like an exciting novel, you constantly want to come back, have more. Carried by a mature and captivating scenario, an artistic direction super effective and a refined and complex combat system, the license seems to have finally found its winning formula.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a very generous title, maybe a bit too much: trying to make itself interesting, Monolith Soft's J-RPG ends up spreading itself by unfolding its story in a confusing and clumsy way. The same is true for the gameplay: flexible and addictive, it ends up showing its limits in the last third, due to an overabundance of enemies and soporific game situations. It remains a very good Japanese RPG, with an undeniable solidity that should keep you glued to your Switch for more than 50 hours.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 can take some meandering detours across its massive 150-hour campaign, but great characters and addictive tactical combat make it all well worth the time.
-
Jul 26, 2022This review might seem short, especially for such a gigantic game. There's just so much I can't disclose. Bits of the combat and the mechanics of course, but mainly the story. It's just much better if you experience these things yourself. I will say that this story manages to be both relatable and enormous. You want - almost desperately - to see how this thing shakes out. I wish the combat wasn't so sluggish at times. It almost obstructs the narrative, having to wade through these disconnected battles. But the quest system is engaging, and the battles do eventually make sense. The writing is great, and the voice acting is getting better with every game. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a gigantic, epic adventure. It's also bloated, hyperactive, and easily distracted. It's beautiful but flat, it's weird yet familiar. If you're looking for a massive new JRPG, the latest Xenoblade game is here for you.

Jul 26, 2022While I've joked while playing that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was a great series of cutscenes with some fighting in between, the game gets away with its glut of cutaways because the story is quite good. Sure, people can see some of the twists coming from a mile away, but the core mystery is so intriguing and weird that you really want to keep playing to figure out just what the heck is going on.
-
Jul 26, 2022Were I grading Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on story alone, it would be a 10 out of 10. If you get emotionally attached to characters, especially passionate ones who don’t want to hurt people and are just trying their best, then it’s a must-play. You just have to be ready for an action-RPG that isn't always the picture of elegance -- and be prepared to live with those quirks through a long, long adventure.
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 feels like the game Monolith Soft has been trying to craft for years. While its dialogue could have used an extra pass, it more than makes up for it with its wonderful story and superb combat. It's rare for a JRPG to hold my attention for a 100-hour runtime, but Xenoblade Chronicles 3 did it with confidence.
-
Jul 26, 2022My time with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was overwhelmingly positive. I’ve clocked a hundred hours at this stage, with the main story completed and PLENTY of side content still to go. If you want a big, meaty RPG to dedicate plenty of time, this game’s the one. But remember, soldiers only have ten years on the battlefield – and you might need that whole decade to see everything Aionios has to offer.

Aug 10, 2022Definitely, one of the biggest JRPG ever made. If you love the genre, you should play it.

Jul 26, 2022Monolith Soft closes out its loosely connected trilogy of epic RPGs with its most adaptable, malleable and high-spirited adventure yet. [Eurogamer Essential]
-
Jul 26, 2022Xenoblade Chronicles 3 rewards you for investing in people and places, in spending time with a community and learning the core of their struggles. In perhaps its longest-running quest line, as both a diplomat and a warrior, I helped a liberated colony establish sustenance farming on its land. And I did do so with the help of neighboring colonies who would’ve once fought one another. This quest was in keeping with many stories in the late game, in which heroes came together in surprising ways to lead the world beyond the limited purview of a protagonist; they developed trade networks, shared knowledge, and established mutual aid. [Polygon Recommends]

Aug 12, 2022From what I have played so far, it is clear that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has a pretty special narrative, which is why the series has captivated such a big audience over the years. The world-building, character-building, and the way the game follows through on its themes is mighty impressive so far and I am completely captivated by where the game is going. [Review in Progress]

Jul 26, 2022As much as this game confuses me, I’m content to let it string me along babe-in-the-woods-style.
