While the story is run-of-the-mill sci-fi tropes, the execution is fantastic. Great atmosphere, impeccable tracking, thrilling suspense and fantastic controls add up to one must-buy title for you PlayStation VR set if you can stomach the survival horror genre set in space. The roguelike element that causes the ship's layout to change constantly is a welcome addition and keeps the game feeling fresh. A special mention must go to the highly original and entertaining multiplayer. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed this game a lot and it seems like not enough people have played it relative to how good it is. Another example **** where I did not care for the demo but really ended up loving the final product. Very addictive, I definitely felt compelled to max out my character and get the good ending. The graphics on ps4 pro vr are among the best and harvesting brain stems remained fun until the end.
Overall, The Persistence is a great sci-fi horror experience that cleverly uses VR to slowly ratchet up the tension and fear. While never entirely terrifying, it does still work well as horror, with just enough randomisation to keep you coming back for more.
The Persistence is an immersive, but not so scary, PSVR stealth game set in a spaceship full of zombies. It uses Rogue-lite mechanics in a good way, feels very punishing- but not impossible - and has some cool weapons to fight in its procedurally generated levels, that you can visit with a friend using a tablet.
Extremely polished and well directed rogue-like survival horror/action game that leverages the PSVR to its full capabilities. If you ever wanted to play system shock or possibly bioshock in VR, then don't hesitate to get this one! There is also a companion app for iphone/ipad that enables another player to either assist the VR player, or to hamper their progress.
Great action and stealth moments to be had, and the character/item/ability progression is engaging. Former Psygnosis devs, if that means anything to you (for me = quality). Not to be missed!
For me this is the best "Rouge LIke" game of the last 2 generations. Everything from the leveling system to the sense of immersion as you explore the ship feels new and refreshing whilst feeling very natural at the same time. Only gripe I would have is that I wish it was longer, but the game wasn't expensive and for the time ive spent playing it and the experiences ive had, its an absolute bargain. Really hope for an expended sequel.
This game is **** VR environment draws you in and doesn't let go. There are some REAL scary moments....unexpected loud noises make you flinch and increases the tension and that fast, horrifying needle stuck skull faced dude will haunt your dreams!
There are no cutscenes which doesn't affect the brilliance of the game and didn't bother me at all. The only negatives I can find is no savepoints throughout the game and you have to play as a female (SJW Alert! - there should have been an option to play as a male character).
CAN'T WAIT FOR PERSISTANCE 2 !!!
I guess I bought in on the hype and bought this game solely based on the reviews. Bad mistake. After a few hours playing this game I can honestly say it's NOT worth the price of entry. Previous gen graphics, clunky gameplay and terribly dark VR sequences (even with the flashlight on) makes for a murky, low-res, boring and confusing game. Each time you die (and you will, many times over) the entire game starts over and all collectibles are gone, including your weapons. I'll put in some more hours after spending the money but not at ALL what I expected after all the positive reviews. Buyer beware.
SummaryCaught in the inexorable pull of a black hole, and with the crew mutated into horrific and murderous aberrations, it’s down to you, a clone of security officer Zimri Eder, to save the ship and make the jump back to earth.
