Despite the introduction of amiibo, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash has little new content. Camelot powered up the gameplay instead, an over-the-top approach embodied by the Mega Mushroom, although the Jumpshot stands as the biggest addition. And the series' legendary accessibility, depth and balance also improved through this great touch of design, which elevates "Jumpman Tennis" among the most convivial games.

Treat it as an HD remaster of the N64 game and this is actually one of the best Mario Tennis games since then, but the lack of features and extra content is a real turn-off.

It can be fun with friends, but it truly lacks content, and is not even remotely excellent, especially when compared to other Nintendo titles that were able to reimagine sports gaming in unexpected ways. Consider it only if you have kids, or if you are looking for an intuitive party game.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash isn't more hilarious and intense than its gamecube predecessor, buts it adds a solid and strong online mode. However, it has lack of single player content.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is a poor game. Although it's fun and simplistic gameplay, it doesn't offer anything that goes beyond of what we had saw from the series in the past. It just simple feels hollow, with few game modes and little replay value. However everything is not that bad; at least its multiplayer mode is enjoyable, even more when playing locally.

I wanted to love Ultra Smash, but it fought me at every turn to keep me from wanting to play more of it.

It seems someone forgot to develop a game before publishing it, because MTUS lacks content so desperately that it looks like a mini game from Mario Party. [02/2016, p.63]

And you can even play old school mario tennis when turning off chance shoots!

Mario tennis ultra smash maybe don't have a tourment mode it has instead knockout challenge which is also very fun try it out!

The next thing is online which is the only reason it got a 9 you can't play with friends only local but it's okey mario tennis has always been most fun playing local with 4 friends anyway but it would be nice.

Next thing is dlc it's likely gonna happen cuz the game has updates.

Mario tennis ultra smash is a good game and you should definely get it!

Not as good as some of the previous ones but still good. For some reason, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash feels...a little rushed. I really don't know if Nintendo was trying to do. Maybe they wanted to release early? The character selection is good. The graphics are okay for the Wii U. The controls are okay but I can screw up at times. The courts are simple but fun. Mario Tennis Ultra Smash isn't the best Mario Sports Games (The GameCube and Wii ones I enjoy more) but I'd say it's worth getting ONLY if it is $40 or less. I think $50 is a bit too much for this title. Months ago, I was lucky enough to find it for $30, which is what the price SHOULD be. As of this review, I play it quite a bit these days. I'd say it's a fun game. Expand

As others have said, it just feels...empty, shallow, lazy. Call it what you will, but it really isn't fun.

If you REALLY want a Mario tennis game, id recommend buying a GameCube and finding a copy of Mario Power Tennis, both are cheap now, and i guarantee you'll have more fun! :)

Basic core gameplay is solid, graphics are beautiful, but a severe lack of gameplay modes, courts, character variety and even basic online friend matchmaking hinders this title before it even gets out of the gate. The game is missing far too many assets from the game that pre-dates this by 10 years. Honestly, just play power tennis on your gamecube or pick that up on ebay for 40$ instead. *Dashie's gameplay was funny as **** though* Expand

This is even worse than Street Fighter 5! At least SF got Arcade Edition but Mario Tennis still to this day has NOTHING to do. Avoid!
