    I can't help but like this two-pack...[but i]t's not $30 worth of fun. [Oct 2010, p.89]
  2. At the asking price, Gunblade NY/LA Machineguns is a steal. While Gunblade is showing its age a little now, LA Machineguns is still an excellent shooter with an interesting combo system that should bring players back to hone their skills.

For barebones-but-respectably-polised arcade fun (and all those terrible voice clips), the Gunblade and L.A. Machineguns pack isn't a bad pick-up.

It is LA Machineguns that makes Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns Arcade Hit Pack worthy of a look.
  5. Arcade maniacs may be the only ones getting a kick out of this compilation but I still have a hard time recommending it. Perhaps these two titles would have been a bit more interesting as $5 WiiWare releases.Instead, they had to go retail. Ah SEGA, you used to be cool.
  6. It's hard to rate Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack without looking at it through the eyes of a nostalgic. The pack contains two very old lightgun shooters which have nothing to do with the several nice titles of the same genre released for Wii in the last years, and it's not gonna be sold at a budget price.
  7. If you're looking for two super short light gun games that require no skill, then boy do I have the Wii compilation for you. Gunblade NY & L.A. Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack manages to package these two games together, but it doesn't do much more than that. Even at $30, that's still too much to pay for two forgettable arcade shooters!

Despite transitioning to a system completely unlike the positional-based gun system of the arcade edition, the Wii's IR tracking system is still able to accurately track exactly what you want to do. You won't lose accuracy in the new system. With an adequate sound system, you can reproduce that thumping basso gunblast you recall from the arcade. The only real downside is that you will also accurately reproduce the below-par graphics, particularly in the Gunblade NY edition. Low polygon counts and nonexistent textures create a dull set of visuals, but the gameplay can't be faulted. The smaller triggers found on Wii Zappers and their clones also mean finger cramping can (and will) occur during extended play. Really, though, when you get right down to it, this takes some of the best rail-shooter action out of the arcade and puts it into your living room. Expand
