WWE 2K Battlegrounds is definitely not the perfect arcade-style WWE experience, but it’s a far better game than I expected going in with minimal bugs and issues. As a workprint for the future, it’s rock-solid and can easily lead to the Battlegrounds games being a great breather between simulation-based entries in the series going forward. Hopefully we’ll see things like customizable movesets be added into future installments – but as it stands, this is a great way to enjoy some pick up and play WWE action on any gaming platform you have.
WWE 2K Battleground is an interesting change of course, an arcade that's far from perfect, but is by far the most entertaining title that WWE has left in the recent years. It's fantastic for short sessions, with tons of unlockables (even with microtransactions), but it can be repetitive soon and some ideas are far from the right spot.
This game is amazing and very addictive people say it’s just to make money through micro transactions but that bull you can unlock superstars pretty quickly by PLAYING THE GAME. Yes you need to play the game to unlock stuff you don’t just get everything handed to you. It’s called progression it’s what gets people coming back to play it. I think the move sets are different enough with a couple exclusive moves for each superstar for each character to feel a bit different. For me this is a very fun game and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a chill game to just have fun with
Unlike its predecessors, WWE 2K Battlegrounds does what it claims, providing an arcade-style take on wrestling that can have anyone pulling off gravity-defying moves in minutes. Sadly it lacks the depth to be more than a fleeting piece of brawling fun.
There’s occasionally some fun to be had but in the long run, the gameplay is so rigid and repetitive that despite seemingly big amount of content to play, the game’s appeal wears thin pretty quickly. Even the multiplayer lacks further enthusiasm for the very same reason and micro transactions that are practically force-fed are the last straw. Given the game’s rather modest production values, it feels like it should have benefited from being a free-to-play title and then paying for more content would have been completely plausible. As it is now, WWE 2K Battlegrounds simply lacks lasting fun, challenge and creativity to fill the void of not having a main entry in the WWE 2K series this year.
WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a game that seems like it exists purely to house its storefront, offering predatory microtransactions which would be overly pricy in a free-to-play game. In a paid title - even a budget one - they're offensive. The only silver lining here is that the game is rubbish anyway, so feel free to skip it without feeling like you're missing out.
This game is very fun but I can't give it more than a 7 out of 10 due to the fact that the majority of the wrestlers in the game have to be unlocked which can take a casual gamer at least a week to do so. When the next group of wrestlers are added to the game I will change my score to an 8 out of 10 but for now it's a 7 for me.
