The story and presentation for Amped 3 is the funniest, most tripped out, wacky and bizarre thing you have ever seen! I kid you not, this game redefines kooyness - whatever these guys were on when they put this game together, I want some!
  2. The game is extremely easy to pick up and play, but has enough challenges requiring skill that literally anyone should have fun with this title, even the video-snowboarding novice.
  3. The lack of genuine Live play does hurt the longevity of the game but I guess you cant have everything.
  4. For the right gamers this one will provide laughter and the snowboarding experience, just not in the normal way you may be used to.
  5. Snowboarding is buried in here somewhere but it's sandwiched between Mountain Dew 'tude', insane fratboy party visuals and some gameplay completely unrelated to snowboarding.
  6. A fun title that perhaps tries a little too hard not to take itself seriously; those who prefer their sports titles to have an inkling of sophistication will quickly find the game on its way back to the shop, however if you're just looking for fun then Amped 3 does the job.

Amped 3 aims to keep you distracted by constantly nickel-and-diming you with a hundred mini-challenges, each with its own pointless reward, spread across a dozen mountainsides. [Feb 2006, p.87]

It kept it grounded between completely absurd, and a solid game for people who actually snowboard. It falls between ssx and something like Skate. Ssx was to over the top, there’s no unstrapping your board and spinning it behind your head mid jump. No pyrotechnics, no crazy maps. They used real mountains and really caught the feel of them. It’s also not a simulator, you won’t throw your controller across the room trying to pull of a specific trick. It’s the perfect middle ground and I still to this day think of it often and can’t wait to play it again. Amazing story and art direction and an authentic to the time and vibe of the slopes soundtrack. Expand

This game is pretty darn sweet. I was almost scared off by the poor reviews, but I have been pleasantly surprised by this game. I am a fan of This game is pretty darn sweet. As Jason K says, it's so *serene* - which for me captures what it's actually like on the slopes. I sometimes wonder if the people As Jason K says, it's so *serene* - which for me captures what it's actually like on the slopes. I sometimes wonder if the people who slag off Amped's laid back gameplay have ever actually been on a snowboard. I don't want power-ups or nitro boosts or whatever, just realistic mountains and good design. Amped 3 has all that and much more. Expand
