"The multiplayer is the strongest it has ever been, and the coop mode has been expanded from an addition to a full-fledged mode. Modern Warfare 3 won't blow away anyone looking for anything new, but it will deliver enough thrills and quality to keep players engaged and coming back for more." ... Read full review

"Modern Warfare 3 doesn't do anything new, but it also doesn't do anything wrong. For better or worse, this is a slick and well-metered trio of modes that make an entertaining package, but Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward are simply looking to augment previous games rather than expand the series into pastures new." ... "Largely feels like an iterative title...This isn't to say that Modern Warfare 3 is at all a bad game-it's an attractive and polished effort with tight controls, addictive multiplayer, and the sense that one is truly on a battlefield, rather than carrying on a miniature war behind the scenes. "This is an exciting and rewarding game, but the series' signature thrills have lost some of their luster. Modern Warfare 3 iterates rather than innovates, so the fun you have is familiar. Fortunately, it's also utterly engrossing and immensely satisfying, giving fans another reason to rejoice in this busy shooter season." ... Read full review

"Modern Warfare 3 doesn't reinvent gunpowder, but sticks to the recipe of the previous games in the series. With a decent story and good multiplayer it's a game worth playing, but the lack of willingness to add improvements in gameplay show a laziness often found in a complacent game series." ... This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I gave it about a month before I wrote a review, and sadly, I'm disappointed. The current set of maps limit the ability to hide and snipe as you were able to in previous games. Lines of sight are limited by buildings, and there aren't many great places to blend into the scenery with a ghillie suit. This forces players to play a more mobile game, favoring spraying bullets over accuracy and patience. For single player, the story was different than what I would have told, but still plays out as an ok action-movie type plot, with nothing particularly special. *SPOILER* The family scene in London offers no emotional gravity. You can see the end coming as soon as the scene starts, and the player is removed from the situation rather than actively involved as in No Russian.

Finally, I use Call of Duty Elite as much as I would use Horse Armor from Oblivion. Except that Horse Armor accurately appeared on the horse whereas Elite incorrectly tracks stats, attributing kills from weapons I've never picked up and miscalculating accuracy on my primary weapons. My disappointment is compounded by the so-called "prizes" offered for the competitions available. Digital Badges aren't prizes, they're unlockables. I paid extra for the chance to win something cool and unique, and instead I essentially get an Achievement.

Hopefully the map-packs will encourage a variety of play-styles, and hopefully Elite will become better utilized.

Being a big fan of all FPS's I was really hoping for some really big changes, which may I add is the impression that myself and a lot of other people got. For me it is just MW2 re-named, I mean I will still play the game and it has its moments but the reason for the really bad score is just because there no real "creativity" which is a real let down. How can you rate a game as a 0? When it is not a game.
The game adds relatively nothing new:
An over-the-top Michael Bays campaign (anywhere from 6-10 hours of gameplay)
New Spec-Ops missions
New Maps (albeit reusing assets from even COD4)
New Weapons

This isn't a game, this is an expansion to MW2.
When you innovate too much in a sequel, you can lose players by not keeping the experience of the previous game
When you don't innovate, your essentially selling the same thing two years later for $60.
TLDR; let me copy from MW2 like MW3 is:
