Probably my favorite campaign right around cod4, a little on the short side but the was a definite satisfaction upon finishing it. The improved spec ops only adds to the experience and the multiplayer just really can't be beat. People complain about how little innovation there is, but seriously they have changed quiet a bit with the new emphasis on support kill streaks and weapon leveling. I don't know what they would have to do for the game to be new and amazing for all these haters, they have already put so much content into it. So please just don't listen to these pathetic people that give the game a bad score because it makes them seem like they are going against a trend because this really is a great game and a definite buy if you are any kind of fan of shooters. Maybe, but I will never know because I don't buy these games for crap single player, that is what RPGs are for. As far as people calling this a map pack or an expansion, what call of duty hasn't been such? If EA wanted to invest money and time in a huge engine upgrade for BF3 then so be it. I have that too and it's also quite enjoyable, but I'm not going to blame a developer for not dishing out a bunch of cash to upgrade an engine on an outdated system when new consoles are around the corner. Four of us purchased it and played it last night. The extra gun damage was a little bit of an adjustment but all in all we love it. I noted the people giving it 0s are taking extraordinary time to post across all platforms, really EA employees and fanboys? Metacritic cannot be trusted because of this crap. BF3 for instance is gorgeous and features great use of large maps and vehicles to pit large groups of players together in spectacular, coordinated assaults. CoD:MW3 specializes in smaller, quicker, fast paced team, or FFA matches, that hardly fair worse. IMHO though, if you must get a console based shooter, go with CoD:MW3. Why? Because the campaign is undoubtedly more rock solid, and the multi-player (while not necessarily better) is hands down funner and notably balanced. Now, on the other hand, if you want the next big PC shooter, look no further then BF3. Its going to be much more beautiful, and a keyboard and mouse are the only controls to do it justice. You have to use EA's lackluster origin service, mixed with an in browser based launcher; but its a small price to pay. For me, MW3 may not be as pretty as BF3, but it feels much more familiar, polished, and just plain fun. Expand

The gameplay has been refined to an inch of its life and you'll find here the sleekest shooter experience available on any platform. Multiplayer returns with an aplomb, and its the best in the series, bringing back everything we love with a sleuth of new maps and new game modes, as well as teaks and spins on the classic CoD MP formula that do nothing but enhance the experience and shake off any feelings of, "haven't I been playing this for the last two years". Then there's the Spec. Ops, a host of new missions that are frustratingly difficult and incomparably satisfying to complete that'll have you and a friend entertained for hours on end, there's also a neat variation on Spec. Ops known as survival, which is essentially a mix between Zombies (BlOps) and Horde (GoW3), (and by Horde, I mean a version of Horde that doesn't suck balls). Overall, the greatest standard FPS of this console generation, and a must buy for anyone who wants a game that'll last them for months on end. And a personal message to everyone, I'm not a COD fanboy, and i don't hate BF3, in fact, you'll see I've given it an "8", which given the fact that its a $90 game that's only real claim to fame is a decent multiplayer, I think is quite a generous score. I wanted to start off with the verdict on this game as there seems to be a lot of negative feeling towards it, a lot of which appear to have no substance. I wanted to start off with the verdict on this game as there seems to be a lot of negative feeling towards it, a lot of which appear to have no substance. Is MW3 similar to previous Call of Duty (CoD) games? Yes. Is this a bad thing? No. Once again the single player experience is decidedly short, probably no more than six hours, and delivers the usual array of intense gun battles and jaw dropping set-pieces that have become the norm for the CoD series. The visuals have been polished from previous entries in the series, although these aren't groundbreaking improvements, and there are also significant improvements in the sound department also. The real reason why anyone forks out their cash for a FPS, be it Battlefield or CoD, is for the multiplayer experience and once again CoD delivers in a big way. The variety of maps available is very good and the new focus of finding a preferred gun and developing it is an interesting new feature that allows the player t refine their online style. The new pointstreak system is also an excellent system and is much more welcoming for newer player to the series. When I first got into the online gaming experience with MW2 it took me quite a while to build up the skill to be able to effectively use killstreaks and I would've welcomed this feature when I was first starting out! My favourite new addition to the multiplayer experience this year has to be the Kill Confirmed game mode. The added pressure of having to round up dog tags following your kill makes for a frantic experience, and popping a grenade into a room full of camping enemies and collecting all those tags for yourself is a very satisfying experience! It's important to note that the frenetic online multiplayer experience has always been the charm of CoD for many people, including myself, and people need to realise it is perfectly acceptable for BF3 and MW3 to be very different and both excellent at the same time. I personally don't find the large maps and style of online play in Battlefield as exhilarating as the quick CQC in CoD, but nonetheless it is an excellent online experience. But if fast paced, adrenaline pumping online play is your thing MW3 is a must have game and will certainly keep you entertained for many months to come! Expand

The multiplayer is what Iv come to expect and the special ops & splitscreen modes have been improved quite nicely....To all those people giving 0's, grow up!!

Other people that i've talked to think that the game is aweful, rubbish, etc, and i then asked them if they've played it and they answered "NO". So how can they criticise the game. The campaign mode is awesome, when you start playing it, you just need to know whats going to happen. I was disappointed that "SOAP" died in the campaign, as he was one of the best characters in the game, but that, in my right opinion is the only bad thing that happens in the game. I can understand why Infinity Ward killed SOAP off, but i think it wasn't really necessary. In terms of online, you could say its same old same old, but there are a lot of changes that make the online better, eg strikes packages, weapons, amazing maps, game modes, for example Kill Confirmed. Reviewers are also saying that the graphics are bad? How are they bad ?
Overall i think Infinity Ward and co have produced the game of the year again, and i congratulate them for doing this, and very much look forward to the DLC, and other NEW features that are still to come.

I love this game! The multiplayer has been upgraded and works very well to keep you hooked for hours on end. The new strike package system is a great system that works for everyone. I do not understand such a low score for this game. The only downside I see is that a few of the maps seem to be based on previous ones out there but that just means it is easier to get used to them.

MW3 follows some of what Black Ops started with a more gun on gun gameplay and improves on the Modern Warfare brand. From what I have played of the campaign it is compelling and action packed. The MP is loads of fun, especially the new kill confirmed mode which comes in hardcore, regular and 9v9 ground war varieties. Best Cod since Cod4.

The story behind the campaign is awesome and I love that it picks up right where it left off. The multiplayer is also worth the purchase. It may not seem a lot different than prior Call of Duties but it is different enough that makes it really fun and the things that are different are what you probably wanted to be different originally.

There is a growing awareness amongst even the most complacent video game fans about the industry at the moment. I believe with Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer have underestimated the intelligence of fans of the series and moved into exploitation territory. People really have been taken for fools and I would argue that this is an ethically questionable moment in this new era of blockbuster video games.

I should add, I haven't played the game, but felt this needed to be said.

For those who are browsing these reviews looking at all the negatives, I advise you to ignore them. They're either trolls or people who get kicks out of venting their anger. Either way, no game deserves a 0 unless it is completely broken or unplayable from the start, which it surely isn't. With that being said, if you're thinking about getting this game, ask yourself: "do I enjoy Call of Duty multiplayer?" If the answer is yes, then you will enjoy this game. It's as simple as that. The multiplayer does have new features; they're not mindblowing, but they are there. There are new maps, weapons, perks, killstreaks, etc. Call it Modern Warfare 2.5, an expansion pack, or a clone if you wish. The fact is, the multiplayer experience was already a good system, which they improved upon. It's more accessible to new players while still retaining its appeal to hardcore players. the ONLY--and I do mean only--complaint I have of the game is concerning the maps. Most of them are small, filled with buildings that cater to CQC players such as SMG/Shotgun users.

As the old adage goes, don't fix what ain't broken.

This review is based only on MW3's multiplayer. At the time of this review, I'm still only a few hours into the campaign, I haven't touched Spec Ops, but I've invested 20+ hours in multiplayer. That's how I play every Call of Duty game. I bought the game specifically for the multiplayer, and for me that was worth the $60 USD. I personally wouldn't advise anyone to buy a COD game only for the single player campaign. I always play the campaign eventually, and enjoy it, but I don't think a COD campaign is worth the full $60 USD investment. Most of the campaigns are a 10 hour, very linear, but very cinematic experience.

MW3's multiplayer is the most balanced and fully realized of all of the COD games that I've played. While we all have a particular iteration of the series that we've put the most hours into and feel the most attached to, MW3 feels the most clean and equitable after years of tweaking in the series. If you can still burn hundreds of hours on the multiplayer, or if this is your first COD game, I highly recommend it for the multiplayer experience alone. If you're burned out on COD multiplayer or never liked it to begin with, then there's no reason to buy this one.

We gotta stop with all the complaints that most creators can't help with. For example, quickscoping, it's not that bad and the creators can't stop it, adding sway and slowing down scope speed wont do anything to stop it. Besides, everyone has faster and easier guns to use instead of a sniper and can kill "quickscopers" easy, if you cant your just bad and GTFO. I'm sorry to say but Infinity Ward is like the dad and we're the pissy little daughters who keep asking for money, just love the game and embrace it, I made the same mistake of saying this game was bad and was going to be bad so I bought a different game and rented MW3, worst mistake, MW3 is way better than I expected. 8.8/10 only because I only played for 3 hours but I enjoyed it. At the end of the day, COD is COD and other shooters like BF3 are different. Its like comparing Need for Speed to Forza 4, anyone with knowledge of the genre can tell you those games while with similar structure, differ insanely. The point is this COD train has already gone far off the tracks, and cannot be stopped. Every year now a new one in the series HAS to come out. So obviously, with a game based around what is essentially a point and click system with different colored walls to spice things up, asking for great innovation in between titles is a foolhardy notion. This game, like or hate the rest of the series, is the most solid well rounded of the titles. Sure the campaign was over the top, and was basically an endless corridor run, but the set pieces were interesting enough to keep me interested for the 5hr to beat it. Multiplayer is what these games are bought and played for, and in this regard this game shines. Spawns were greatly fixed from BO and the killstreaks have not only been toned down, but are now tailored to your play-style in terms of when and what you receive mid-match. The spec-ops mode extend the games value further. And if you have a bud to sit down with these missions are not to be overlooked.
In review, if you like to play your shooters alone, or at least lone wolf most of the time, go with COD. If your a team-based kind of player than BF3 might be a better choice. But don't knock COD because it hasn't 'evolved' or 'changed' over the years, what series has? Halo? Gears? Resistance? Killzone? All of these titles see little bone structure change between installments, only their graphics, weapons, and environments have been altered. If you want a varied and ever-changing genre, buy an Iphone, or get into the RPG scene. As shooters i believe will be emulating this game for many years to come.

But this perspective has subsided with MW3, but before I continue I have to admit that I have already played and completed Battlefield 3's campaign, and I have to admit both BF3 and MW3 impressed, but I do prefer BF3 overall - but this is my review of MW3 so I'll highlight what I enjoyed during my latest Call of Duty experience, and also what I feel lets it down.

My main criticism of past cod games is that they never seem to have memorable characters, and even though the primary characters in MW3 are for the most part familiar I think during the course of the campaign they are far better developed, which helps immerse you deeper into the story and gameplay. Lets face it the story is so far fetched beyond comprehension, but it had me wanting more and keeping me on my toes with the different surroundings and locales - which were very impressive.

From a technical perspective MW3 doesn't break any new ground in the visual department, but that's not to say it's not a pleasantly looking game. It is however technically sound with regards to textures and non existent screen tearing, plus I didn't experience any slow-down during the more epic battles, but I do think the overall pace and weapon sounds need some work. I like a well presented game and feel the menu system, as with previous cod games, lack in presentation. The font used in game and each of the menu screens is related to the series but I feel it needs revamping as it feels cheap and outdated. But this is a minor criticism and doesn't impact on the gameplay whatsoever.

I'm not big on multiplayer these days, but what I have played is pretty much what I expected. It's solid, although like with many other people it is the habits of other players rather than the game itself that make the experience less enjoyable. The term 'camper' is what i associate with any Call of Duty release with regards to muliplayer, and yet again I have had to put up with their lack of gamership. I'm sure they could devise a playlist or gametype that could eliminate this plague and make the experience a more fulfilled one?... On the positive though the familiar ranking and experience system remains, meaning if you are unlucky enough be listed with a bunch of gamers that can't rack up the kills for the team, then you are not penalized too heavily for carrying your team to another glorious defeat.

All in all I enjoyed the campaign and have the need to play through it again on the highest difficulty, so I will certainly get the full value from the £25 offer Tesco sucked me into!

On with the review. The campaign picks up almost immediately after MW2, and it's bang bang, boom boom start to finish. You toss in U.S. Army's Delta Squad in the battle for New York, then on to France, Germany, UK, it starts to feel like the COD we remember from the WWII shooter era. The problem, is other than Soap, Price, Makarov, and company we have seen since the original MW series started, all the other characters feel very disconnected, I found it extremely difficult to connect with any of the Delta, SAS, GIGN, or any other organization portrayed. But our heroes from MW, and MW2, are back. I wont give away the story or any plot points, but it ties the series up nicely, and ends it, no cliff hanger, no BS, the story ends, but it just didnt feel satisfying, now mind you, I don't know how you can turn up the heat any higher than 11, but other than the Price/Soap/Makarov characters, I was just shooting anything that was on the other end of the hallway.

The multiplayer is a level of balance not seen since the first MW game, the GL's have been toned down, the maps feel much less claustorphobic, and much less obvious choke points. Yes, the other team can still pin you down if they are effective, but that effectiveness degrades quite a bit. I still found myself spawning next to the guy who just killed me, or stabbed in the back by the guy I just killed, and am still performing the reload for, but even thats small potatoes. You will spend much of the first portions of multiplayer getting award after award, and it's nearly rapid fire, but it feels like a ploy to keep you interested rather than actually award you for an accomplishment. It is still satisfying when you hear the noise, or rank up, but when you see some of the reasons as to why you got the award, you just think to yourself "THAT was it?".

Our friendly neighborhood Nuke is gone, all the modes are in tact, including a new super addictive Kill Confirmed mode, everytime you get a kill, you collect dog tags from your enemy, however, you begin to wonder if risking your own head is worth it when you see the golden tag in front of your face, when some jerk with a rocket launcher is waiting on you to go for it, or should you get the red tags and save your team the death point? I find it fun, and keeps me focused for hours.

I was lucky enough to get the game before a lot of people stateside got it home (Japan), I spent the first few hours or so thinking I was hot stuff killing everything that moved. After work ended, I got a really nasty awakening, aside from continual deaths and frustration, screaming kids were back to let me know what they were planning on doing with my mother that particular evening, and how much these puny voices claimed they could pound me to a bloody pulp if they saw me in person, yep, MW is back, and mom didnt look at the ESRB rating again.

I don't hate MW, or any Modern Combat games, they are well done, and polished well. I was more turned off by MW3 that within the first 3 hours of playing online, I ran into 6 hosts that were cheating/hacking/exploiting, 8 people were ALREADY 10 prestige, and maxxed out all around, and the leaderboards had already been screwed with.

One more note, I am disappointed that COD Elite service to date (21 November) has been either hit or miss, or just broken. The companies know how wildly popular this series is, but they werent "prepared" for the overload? What did they think was going to happen? To the biggest entertainment launch in history, great work, now please go back to the drawing board, and get something new out there.

Very disappointed at mw3, maps are very small , gun selection is low and the worst parxt is the quick scope is worse then ever, at the moment playing bf3. The only decent thing was campaign...and I don't play the campaign unless multiplayer sucks

This game was a solid FPS, with good graphics and very nice multiplayer. However, the story was a bit of an excuse plot, and the online community leaves much to be desired. But the controls are smooth, and it is exactly what you should expect from a Call of Duty game.

Modern Warfare 3's campaign is very entertaining. These games are Michael Bay movies played out through a control. The sound, the spectacle of it all was off the charts. and this is something that has gotten bigger and better as the series has gone on. Not many first person shooters have changed the wheel over the years and i never MW3 to do it so i got was i was expecting. I understand where the frustration comes with regard to multiplayer. It hasn't changed a great deal. Kill Confirmed and some of the new killstreaks are a nice addition but it is essentially the same thing. But if you bought this game purely to play multiplayer than that is your own fault for being dissapointed. You should have bought battefield 3 which hasn't got any hate compared to MW3 and the campaign in that game put me to sleep. The graphics were incredible but the rest of it just doesn't hold up to the MW series. So yea i gave it an 8.0. and i think that is accurate. anyone new to the series would be blown away by what MW3 has to offer (campaign or otherwise). and veterens to the series know what they are getting and last i checked millions are playing it. So go somewhere else with your hate! Expand

There has been a lot of mixed opinions and a lot of hate on here. I am giving my honest unbiased opinion The main reason for the hate is the lack of innovation seen in the last few call of duty's which is no different here. This game does the same job as black ops did, its more or less a refined version of MW2. However some see this as a bad thing and some see it as a good thing. The lack of innovation is disappointing which leaves it short from being a great game, but its still a good game and far from a bad game. The controls remain mostly unchanged since cod4, but they still remain to be the fps shooter controls around. The graphics are solid, they arnt groundbreaking but they are not bad either. The FPS is excellent as usual with the modern warfare series. The sound however is rather hit and miss and overall quite disappointing. The voice acting most of the time is great, but at times can actually be a little bit inconsistent as their tone of voices change irrelevantly at times to the situation you are in. The music is typical modern warfare series music, which is a rather dramatic movie music. The major flaw i think in the sound however is the guns, they all sound very similar and sound rather tinny, the sound effects of explosions, guns, etc are very disappointing, when in previous call of duty's the sound was good or always at least on par.

Single Player: Is a good campaign, not great though just good. There are moments there that really do blow you away and are as epic as it comes in a game, but then there are parts that are boring and predicable. I would say this campaign is as good as the CoD 4 campaign however nothing will ever beat the moment when that nuke went off unexpectedly. The voice acting and characters are great, but at time the voice acting can be poor, in the sense of when major things happens the typical call of duty was its just so fast paced that you don't get time to appreciate what is going on. The story's pacing is just poor, you are all over the place, going to different locations over the world instantly and it often feels like youve skipped a mission or some soft of cut scene, its just too fast paced to be able to seriously follow the storyline. (Im not talking about gameplay wise) Spec Ops: Is a refreshing new mode that takes us away from Treyarch's hit Zombies. Its not really innovative though, it seems like its just copied from a lot of other co op mode games *cough gears of war*, It is however a great fun mode, that is an alternative to zombies. However Zombies still remains to be the better co op mode, but Spec ops Survival has potential to become as good as zombies. There just isnt enough content and things to do as it stands, not enough upgrades to weapons, killstreaks and perks, and you dont get that sort of build you do with zombies where you have to get money to open doors, buy perks PaP etc, its almost just all there for you once you unlock them with the level progression system, which I thought would of been a good idea, but it isnt executed properly within survival mode i just think the leveling up just a bit of a gimmick. Don't get me wrong though the Spec Ops Survival mode is still great just a tad disappointing Multiplayer: Well in a nutshell its the same old.. that could either mean its a great thing to some or a bad thing to others. I am sort of stuck in between that crowd. I loved Mw2 and what they have done is kept the formuler but simply beef it up, better perks, point streak system and a complete balance of the guns including a good leveling up your gun system. Prestege shop. The new additions are certainly great, i love the perks, its the best call of duty for perks, i love the gun leveling, and I like the new pointstreak system, i also really like the two new modes kill confirmed and team defender. However playing 18days of mw2 is all this really enough to keep me playing mw3? In other words is a much more refined and improved mw2 but very similar, so if you didnt like mw2 chances are you wont like this, if you loved mw2 but hated the overpowered things in the game such as the killstreaks and guns+perk combos then you will love this, if you have grown tired of mw2 then this may get stale for you very quickly.

Like people say, it is extremely similar to past games in the franchise, but this one is is easily best. The guns, maps and game modes have been refined and are better than ever. The campaign is about the same as MW2 in terms of quality but it's still very good; shame it's missing the snowmobile sequance or something similar.

Modern Warfare 3 may not have many changes, but it's still a solid game. Let's start with the single player experience. It continues from when Modern Warfare 2 left off, with Makarov being the bad guy and Price and Soap trying to stop him doing bad stuff. Unfortunately, the single player for the Call of Duty series has really been demoted to a secondary exeprience, Multiplayer being the primary focal point. There's not a lot going on, World War 3 has come to the US, and you have to shoot a lot of Russian clones in the face while explosions happen everywhere. Sound familiar? The story is really like a Michael Bay movie, big and dumb with badass dudes yelling while jets and choppers and tanks make things go boom. I won't spoil anything, but really what happens in the story is gonna be forgotten as soon as you are done with it. It is a really short one too, as it took me just under 5 hours on normal. And you probably won't go back to play through it again unless you want those extra achievments you missed, wanna beat it on Veteran, or get the Intel collectible items. However, while single player falters, the multiplayer options are where the meat of the game truly is. Spec Ops has been more fleshed including a survival mode where 2 players shoot through wave of bad guys. Not really original, but is a bunch of fun with a friend. And it has a progressive unlock system just like the Multiplayer, so you'll spend lots of time on this mode. The multiplayer itself is still a good one, with some changes. There is now Strike pakages, and they determine how you get your pointstreaks. Yes, Pointstreaks, because now capturing objectives and destroying enemy equipment and planes and choppers count toward your streak. Anyways, Assault is the familiar one with rewards tailored to missiles, and choppers, offensive rewards. Support is my personal favorite, me being a team player, where your streak doesn't get reset when you die, and you get more team based rewards like radars, recon drones and an Emp (I love this one). Specialist is a very odd one, as you get perks based on how high your streak gets, and which perks you decide to choose, so at 2 you might do Scavenger, then 4 is Blast shield or whatever. At 8 kills, you get all the perks that you have unlocked and get a bonus for each additional kill. If you get to that without dying, fun times. As always the weapons and perks are real interesting and has something for every type of player, and prestige mode is back for the hardcore to reset and level up again. There are some minor gripes about certain streak rewards, the choice of server type (still no dedicated servers?), and many other things. It can get frustrating when the whole other team camps and uses Quickscoping sniper tactics to get AC130's and Juggernaught armor. But that's about the players themselves, not the game's fault. In closing, while the single player falters, the multiplayer is very fun. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a must buy. There's nothing like playing and levelng up with your buddies together. Expand

The campaign is a rousing conclusion to the series, with some incredibly cinematic moments and a satisfying ending to the story and characters. The gameplay has a great level of diversity and though it does follow the usual aspects of the FPS, there is a lot more creativity in the level design and set pieces. The multiplayer is technically more of the same, but when you are talking about one of the most robust multiplayer games in the market that is not a complaint.

Look, I aim to look at games objectively. I am not going to rag on Battlefield 3, but I am going to say that its fans who give this game 0's and low scores without a good reason why other than "it's more of the same" need to get a life. Battlefield 3 is ALSO more of the same, as it follows not only the same principles of previous Battlefield games but also the standard ALL FPS games do! A game does not have to be 100% revolutionary to feel fresh and new. Battlefield 3 can still be a good game and Modern Warfare 3 can still be a good game. Where you lean towards more is just a matter of preference. Me? I prefer superior single player to superior multiplayer any day so I lean more towards Modern Warfare 3.

After a week of soaking up the game in it's entirety, I find it very hard to give a review score for a game that is split into 2 very different parts.

    Part 1 Campaign.

For me, this was extremely good. I had zero disc graphics lag and the game ran very smooth, reminded me of a stripped back version of MW2 which most COD4 fans would adore. The waves of opposition came at a good rate, with the odd cheeky guy waiting to pounce to catch you off guard, to help it look less linear. The target hits was somewhat off, but another burst of fire made me forget that, unlike BF3.

The ending was nicely dramatised and left me feeling like I had achieved 'THE END' which gave me hell at the point where I switched elevator's in a sweet little jump. I found the roomful of guys extremely hard to beat until I realised the tactic was to hold back in the lift foyer. Nice all-round game I thought.

    Part 2 MultiPlayer.

Started off quite well, I played it for approx 1 hour before the servers were closed on Wednesday 2nd Nov for a while. I jumped back onto it on saturday 5th Nov for a good old gaming session, which once again seemed really great, plus I love the set-up of 99% of the new maps.

It all started to go slightly sour for me online at approx 7pm when I had difficulty killing people who weren't even shooting back, then would turn around and 1 or 2 shot me. I was wondering why the transformation had occured and put it down to my quite impressive connection of 100mb, but it simply kept happening even as far as the 8th Nov.

It seems there is the usual graphical 'hold-back' whereby anyone on a great connection can't see the opposition as fast as they should be able to, to 'even' the broadband speeds up. OH how wrong they have got this side of the game. Same as BlackOps.

When are the people in charge of latency going to realise that those with higher spec broadband, have paid for this to improve their gameplay, not to be used as a server, not to be killed by a guy who I am shooting who is currently facing the other way till he see's my bullets pass through him, turns round and 1 shot kills me stone dead. This is classed as gameplay interference and should be cut dead from the activision servers RIGHT NOW. You are targeting high end broadband or uniquely good killers, in favour of 3mb broadband or noob users, which I cannot stress enough, is ruining the fundamentals of the game for these, the most dedicated of your users.

The game has outsold BOPS and based on the campaign I know it is better, same MW2, but the online is where most players will travel and even though the campaign deserves a 9 the online deserves a 5.

Sort out the online and I will give you a 10 next time - but don't cheat the system, cut the bull and stop lagging out the high-end user. He is the guy with the money BTW. You are using an archaic system on this side of the fence which does not work in the UK half as well as you may have planned. In short - SORT YOUR MESS OUT!

In other words, fanboys. Forget em. Seriously. This game. I liked. and dont even try to compare it Black Ops, its got nothin to do with it, this is infinity ward, the company that revolutionized first person shooter games with MW back in 2007, half that stuff those battlefield fanboys are bleeting on about came from ideas in MW. Why complain about lack of innovation when they had a formula that works so well with the 2 previous games? The graphics were always very good, so I honestly dont know why anyones complaining about that, or why it even matters that much. The campaign while admittedly a little short, is still fun, I dont believe anyone who says they didnt enjoy chasing a train in london, or firing hell down in Paris, or those parts where you actually feel like your in a warzone, and thats the whole point isnt it? Sorry if it wasnt realistic enough, hopefully next time you get one life for the whole game, maybe you should go join the army. Multiplayer, addictive as ever, fun, and as always irritating, but it still keeps you coming back. New maps are in no way small, theres great new game modes that you will want to keep playing, Spec Ops is always fun with a friend, and im glad they didnt tread on zombies, as thats Treyarchs baby, but rather try something new with Survival mode. I will get hours out of this game, because at the end of it all, its not perfect, but its bloody fun, and thats what matters in my opinion. Only reason why you see so much flaw in this game is because its under such a huge microscope with the hype and attention its getting and its easy to jump on to bandwagons...... Expand

While MW3 might be a lot like MW2, that's a good thing. If they made tons of changes people would be screaming bloody murder. Seems the only people I've seen bashing it are the BF3 fanboys, which I highly doubt even owns or played MW3 at all. They point out how MW3 is just MW2.5 or a $60 map yet at the same time throw a fit that BF3 isn't BF2.

I own both PC and Xbox 360 versions and both are very good. If you enjoyed the past CoD games you'll very much enjoy MW3.

Honestly, the only reason a lot of people hate this game is because of the whole Activision/Infinity Ward debacle. This game rivals the first Modern Warfare in all aspects. Granted, I would've loved to have a longer single player campaign, but what I got still left me happy. Don't believe what you read until you try this. What were you expecting? You get exactly what you expect. A first person shooter with slightly enhanced graphics and new skills and story added in to it. Besides that, about 2/3 of people rated this game negative but I'm going to guess that quite a few of those people will be the people who will end up playing endlessly on the multi player game. I guess time may prove me wrong and nobody will be playing on the game after this month but I'm willing to guess that Modern Warfare will still have millions going on multi player every day. In short, if you do want something different then go out and buy Arkham City or Assassins Creed Revelations because they are good initiative games. But for the game that you could just play time after time on multi player this is the game to buy. Expand

Hold on, all of this Battefield fanboy's idiocy must be stopped by a honest review.
First of all - this is the best Call of Duty right now. MW2 was full of bad ideas, BO was laggy and glitchy - this game finally is balanced, performs well and gives hell lot of fun.

Of course EAdrones never actually played the game for longer than 4 hours, so their "experience" comes from screenshots and videos, which can look a lot like MW2 - the artstyle hasn't changed, but thanks to that, the game can run smoothly on old computers, and also - games are about gameplay, not about the graphics.
And the MW3's gameplay is amazing, like in every CoD. Every multiplayer game you'll play will be packed with action, explosions and firefights, and after every one you'll feel exhausted by the amount of pure fun you just got.

It seems like most of these people bought this game just to rant about how much they hate it. Wile I won't say it's perfect or the most innovative thing that's ever happened to the first person shooter genre, it still provides a solid multiplayer experience, despite much of it being recycled from Modern Warfare 2. Is it as good as Battlefield 3? No, but it's still a ton of fun.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
