With the Japanese dialog, the stunning visuals and the solid turn-based combat system it's the first game in a long time that sates my appetite for the old school RPG.
Meshing a well-told and captivating story with a strategic battle system, a bevy of collectable minions and a gorgeous world, Enchanted Arms is a great way to start of the JRPG tradition on the Xbox 360.

Just went back and played this again in 2023. Fantastic rpg that holds up in every way. From software just can’t make a bad game apparently

Enchanted arms is an RPG, set protagonist being Atsuma along with his friends Toya, and Makota. at Enchant University. After they skipped school and go to a Golem battle tent, the city guards machines begin to malfunction, attacking innocents and turning on the any of the cities inhabitants. Later the protagonists separate, Toya turned against Atsuma, and Makota presumed dead. Its up to Atsuma to become stronger and take on the three devl golems, Queen of Ice, Emperor of Fire, and Lord of Earth.

Enchanted Arms offers a compelling yet comical story that will at times make you laugh out loud or at the least, bring a smile to your face.
Ubisoft brings the Japanese RPG experience to the 360, but sadly doesn't dazzle us with truly next-gen visuals and revolutionary gameplay.
The decidedly traditional approach that permeates every part of the game makes the decision to develop this as a "new-gen" game all the more odd, to say the very least.
As it stands, it’s only eye candy that distinguishes Enchanted Arms from the wealth of tactical RPGs on PS2. [Oct 2006, p.130]
A fundamentally flawed and boring RPG, Enchanted Arms might be steeped in Japanese charm but without any sense of fun or involvement, there's no reason to buy this. [Issue # 11, p.84]
So i've decided to review this not having played it for well over a decade, But I find myself remembering and missing this game. I feel it's totally under rated and a good RPG. The graphics were great, the story was good, the characters were also good. I enjoyed pretty much all aspects of the game. I enjoyed collecting the side golems as well. I wish more people got to experience it for themselves. There wasn't much commercial for it, it's not a very well known game. I wish they made more because honestly it had a lot of potential. It was on the border of being great, I give it a 7/10. I decided to grab this on ps3 and will play it on there for the first time soon:)

It has a good combat system but also the ability to autobattle which is great for grinding. The characters are good for a JRPG but most of the dialogue is incredibly campy and the voice acting just randomly stops for no reason during some of it. It's not like they voiced main scenes and you have to read side quests, it just randomly cuts out, its weird. The story is decent and makes you want to keep going but you have to stop and grind before moving on every time. There is an insane amount of grinding throughout the game and a very boring and laborious exploit to increase your skills which is almost compulsory to succeed. To reduce the grinding though there is a very broken, completely overpowered optional character you can get to effortlessly kill the last boss.

My friend let me borrow this game, and boy it is cheesy. The acting is annoying, the characters are so weird and not funny. I wasted my time. So disappointed. I wonder if the people who made this game knew that this game was absolute crap? I do not recommend this game.

Ce truc, ce bidule, ce machin, cette chose... est développé(e) par From Software, développeur japonais bien connu pour développer les pires étrons jamais développés ou plutôt démoulés dans le monde du jeu vidéo. D'ailleurs ces clowns sévissent encore de nos jours avec des (prétendus) jeux de rôle qui soûlent.
Mais qu'importe. Dans les "armes enchantées" on a un exemple très probant de personnages très **** qui font leur coming out à chaque réplique (en anglais), de la présentation habituelle des jeux de rôle japonais (d'un mauvais goût constant dans les menus et l'interface) et d'un système de combat au tour par tour conçu par un stagiaire ou plutôt un salary man complètement défoncé au saké.
En plus de cela, c'est vilain et très limite techniquement. Et c'était une exclusivité Xbox 360... cela prouve jusqu'où Microsoft était prêt à s'enliser et se noyer pour proposer des jeux qui plaisent aux Japonais. En vain.
