If you can bear some of the repetition in between missions, the missions themselves are a blast. The environment is among the most compelling ever put on a screen this year. And multiplayer is strong. Far Cry 2 may not live up to its full potential, but there's a lot here to enjoy regardless.

Stunningly beautiful and morally harrowing, but plodding in its execution.
  3. Far Cry 2 is a drawn-out yet ambitious FPS that doesn’t quite align its many ideas into an effective game, due to the confused nature of the open world. Nice atmosphere, though.
  4. To summarise, love the visuals and explore the fantastic gameworld Ubisoft have created but don’t expect anything ground-breaking or life-changing because this just isn’t as innovative as it wants to be.
  5. It falters in just enough places to make you think before you hand over your money.
  6. Far Cry 2 manages to lend the open world of typical RPG:s and mend it into a first person shooter. The trouble is that the game's world isn't properly adapted to the openness of the gameplay, leading to lots of tedious stretches of transportation. A somewhat silly AI and extremely tough enemies dampens what is otherwise a really competent shooter.
  7. Some games grow on you the more you play them, as you get used to the little idiosyncrasies and learn to appreciate the finer points. Far Cry 2 is at the opposite end of the spectrum, a game that makes it harder and harder for you to like it by placing more and more junk between you and its best features.
  8. So long as you only play the game in small bursts, Far Cry 2 is an interesting experience.
  9. Far Cry 2 is a game that we wanted to love. It started off very well only to sink lower and lower into tedious territories.

The downside of this game is its repetitiveness, having to travel to the other end of the map can take ages if youre not near a bus and drags the game out too long. However it has amazing graphics, great shooting gameplay and sound, and is an overall very good game. Full Review »

Unfortunately, Only good things I can think of about the game are the realistic graphics, the fantastic map editor and the fun online play. Unfortunately, the single-player mode is seriously flawed in various ways. One of the most annoying things about this game is that every single human being in the game that isn't white or living in a town is out to kill you, almost like zombies. On sight of you, even from a distance they make it their mission to follow you and kill you. This poses problems, especially when you are in a mission or when you are trying to get from one place to the next. It seems that everyday civilians have completely vanished off the face of the Earth in this game and have been replaced by blood-thirsty savages. The game had the potential to tell a story of a practically lawless land and the corrupt arms dealers that make huge profits by having people kill each other, but it is ruined by flawed gameplay. The driving physics are poor and the incredible environments are ruined by a lack of things to actually do apart from going on missions that involve killing people and collecting diamonds! A frustrating game - not worth getting. Full Review »

It is a must to own, and this kind of game development should be supported and encouraged--user maps help increase the lifespan of the game and keep it fun for months to come. I bought both the XBOX360 and PS3 versions, and I haven't noticed all of the feature differences, but both look and play amazingly--if I had a PC with enough horsepower I would buy the PC version on steam--KUDOS to UBISOFT for VASTLY improving upon the original.
