Halo 3 picks up where "Halo 2" left off. The Master Chief is returning to Earth to finish the fight. The Covenant occupation of Earth has uncovered a massive and ancient object beneath the African sands - an object who's secrets have yet to be revealed. Earth's forces are battered and beaten. The Master Chief's AI companion Cortana is still trapped in the clutches of the Gravemind - a horrifying Flood intelligence, and a civil war is raging in the heart of the Covenant. This is how the world ends... [Bungie] Expand

It's solid gameplay, immense replayability, online functionality and incredible production values will ensure its place in video game history, and it is, without a doubt, a satisfying and fulfilling close to the beloved trilogy[?].

In substance it's nothing new, merely a magnificent, beautiful monster of an FPS sequel. In concept and execution, though, Halo 3 is the future. [Nov 2007, p.80]

Halo 3 is essential. An Xbox 360 without a copy of the game is like a human without a heart.
  4. Halo 3 gives a deeper, smoother and grander ride then ever before.
  5. The combination of the excellent campaign, tried and true multiplayer, and online co-op make this a game that shouldn't be missed by anyone.
  6. Halo 3 may not fully live up to the obscene hype, but it certainly survives it.
  7. The ads promise an epic tale of tragedy, sacrifice, and heroism that Halo 3 really had no hope in hell of ever delivering. More troubling, however, is the fact that after playing the game, I can suggest with some certainty that they promised a game that Bungie didn't even bother trying to produce.

Michael B. has everything right. The Needler and the pistol have become completly pointless. The Needler because of it is weak as hell now Michael B. has everything right. The Needler and the pistol have become completly pointless. The Needler because of it is weak as hell now and the pistol... well... it was really only good in halo 1 and kinda fun to dual wield in halo 2 but it sucks in halo 3. What I like: melee has gotten stronger, you can just smack the Brutes up if you play on easy. The Gravity Hammer is a great addition to the arsenal. Its AOF ability is just pure genius. Its like: Hey you Master Chief look here, I'm a big fat Brute!!! MC: "STFU!" - And then you just smack him in the face real good and blow up everything standing around too with a single blow. That is "Combat Evolved." Expand

This game is, and always will be one of the greatest multiplayer experiences EVER to come to console. Over the many fun years of playingThis game is, and always will be one of the greatest multiplayer experiences EVER to come to console. Over the many fun years of playing during the awesome D-EXP weekends, or the thousands of cool customs games made in forge, this game never ever lost it ability to create an awesome playing experience in which you can joke around with friends and just have an awesome time. Even after four years of playing this game and over 12000 games, I have never gotten bored of this game, once. If only we could see games like this in the future.
On a campaign note, it was very good. There were awesome moments which really attached you to the characters and had them feeling their pain and suffering or joy. The campaign is always fun to play and the hundreds of easter eggs hidden throughout the campaign along with terminals create almost a second game within itself which has been seen in the community.
There is no comparison to this game, apart from its previous multiplayer title of Halo 2.

Anyone who ever gave this game anything less than a 7 is lying to themselves. It may not be a 10 but you know its pretty damn good. TheAnyone who ever gave this game anything less than a 7 is lying to themselves. It may not be a 10 but you know its pretty damn good. The multiplayer alone should warrant an automatic 9 and when you pile on the deep (and yes, at times convoluted) story it has to be at least a 9.5. If you own an XBOX 360 and have somehow not experienced the excellence that is the Halo series, do yourself a service and pick this up on the cheap. Trust. Expand

Big fan of the series. I liked the campaign, don't really know why people are so upset about that. The gameplay itself is next to perfectBig fan of the series. I liked the campaign, don't really know why people are so upset about that. The gameplay itself is next to perfect but some decisions made by Bungie concerning the multiplayer just keeps amazing me. TEAM SLAYER with shotty snipers?!?!? that's a joke, why snipers have to ruin such a good playlist? But moreover, where's the hardcore playlist???!?!?!?! everyone loves oddbalsl and king of the hills, now they are nowhere to be found. One other thing: MP maps. Huge setback, spoiled by too big areas. And that snowy map; why on earth there are those shield-doors??? makes gaming ridiculous. I just wait for update to make things right again. Bungie wake up! loose the snipers, add k.o.t.h.'s. You guys don't want to please majority, you have to please everyone! Expand

Decent campaign, but it was short. I enjoyed continuing the Halo story. Being able to run through the campaign on co-op was nice. MultiplayerDecent campaign, but it was short. This game is not "bad" its just boring. Its the same exact thing as halo 2, the graphics aren't better only shinier. The single player This game is not "bad" its just boring. Its the same exact thing as halo 2, the graphics aren't better only shinier. The single player campaign (which i know not many people care for) thoroughly disappointed me. Wtf? Cortana has feelings now and everyone is in love with her? And the multiplayer just has a fancy camera now, if only it made as huge a jump as Halo2 did from Halo1, it being the next-gen and all.
