    If you were left wanting in RE5 there's a good chance RE6 will satisfy you. There's a reason you're being fired at, there are plenty of tense moments and stress, the storytelling is superb, and "zombies" make a return.

    Resident Evil 6 is not a perfect game. It's not even all that scary, but it is immensely entertaining, gorgeous to look at, and it has more content than I've ever seen in a game like this. It might not revolutionize the genre like Resident Evil 4 did, but it does offer something for everyone.

    Resident Evil 6 is truly one of the best experiences I have had with a game this year. It is just loaded with content, and playing co-op with a friend is definitely a blast.

    The concept of four separate, intersecting campaigns is difficult to pull off, but Capcom succeeds pretty much perfectly. Also the game is visually stunning and despite not being "survival horror" anymore but rather "action horror", the gameplay is engaging. Still, the familiar Resident Evil problems like the horrible inventory system and awful UI are constant annoyances. [Oct 2012]

    With a long and complex story bolstered by spectacular, adrenaline-fueled and varied gameplay, Capcom delivers a highly satisfying game. It would have been perfect with a more thrilling mood, but if you're looking for an intense and involving experience you won't be displeased.

    Resident Evil 6 offers a huge variety of situations, full of surprises and unforgettable moments, but there's only a tiny bit of the survival horror it once was. However, no matter the relationship between you and Resident Evil, we believe you should try RE6. As imperfect as ambitious, as frenetic as fun, it's a solid proof that Japan still knows how to make games.

    With its old identity stripped away you've left with a massive action game that tends to check all the boxes instead of creating new ones, yet measured against its contemporaries it remains near the top of its class. Big, brash, and full of memorable moments, Resident Evil 6 deserves to be played by any fan of the action genre.

    Resident Evil 6 is a mix of good and bad, but the good does outweigh the bad and the game brings many welcome changes to the usual action gameplay found in past games.

    Resident Evil 6 is the finished transformation (modernisation) of the previously horror series into the action game series with horror elements in it. It's a great and entertaining adventure. The game is not without flaws, but comparing them to the actual gaming content, they diminish. Not to mention that the old known heroes along with the new ones are going to tell you another piece of the series' complex story. Radical defenders of the very first series' installments will probably refuse the sixth part. However, we all know this is linked to the change of genre, not to the actual game quality.

    Leon and Jake's campaigns, in particular, are hugely entertaining, showcasing the survival horror genre at its best. While Chris's campaign might well prove that two's company and three's a crowd, the excellent plot, cast of characters and additional content should ensure that Resident Evil 6 is revisited more times than Tall Oaks' pharmacy.

    Resident Evil 6 is the disfigured spawn of a generation that is best known for Call of Duty. We've got Resident Evil 4's atmosphere spliced into the body of Operation Racoon City's action. Moments of brilliance clash with sections of irritation.

    The plot's probably one of the best written in the series to date, although even as a fan of RE, I have to admit that's not saying a hell of a lot.

    Resident Evil 6 is solid, challenging, and at moments outright amazing, but razzle-dazzle Hollywood production never quite masks a subtle, intangible lack of focus and pacing that pervades its formidable spread of content.

    Evolution and ambition are only natural for a franchise as old as Resident Evil, as is the need to respect a long-lasting legacy and the fans that have come to appreciate it. But in trying to serve all masters, Resident Evil 6 loses focus and fails to accurately assess which of its elements are truly worthy of being included.

    Throughout my time with it I found a game with uneven design and strange pacing. In trying to be a jack-of-all-trades, it truly left me feeling like it was a master of none.

    After all is said and done, Resident Evil 6 isn't a runaway success, but most of the time, it succeeds at what it sets out to accomplish. Unfortunately, it's such a departure from the rest of the series that those expecting more of the same will find themselves frustrated and foiled-despite the "6" in its title, this is an entirely new animal, and the developers have hamstrung their own work by doing an unforgivably bad job of explaining what the game is, and how they intend it to be played.

    Resident Evil 6 is a game full of opposites. On one hand there is an interesting story, on the other - it has lots of cringe-worthy moments. There are excellent boss fights and clever puzzles, but there are some really boring and repetitive shooting levels as well. I don't regret over 30 hours (RE6 is long!) spent playing this game, I can't recommend it to everyone. But all in all Resident Evil 6 is a good game and deserves a chance.

    Even with all its flaws, and it has many, Resident Evil 6 is still an exhilarating action game. It's just not the return to form we were hoping for. It still has control issues, and isn't as scary or as puzzling as the series' high water marks Resident Evil 2 or 4.

    The game has some stumbling moments, but it is worth sticking it out. With the franchise changing over time it has lost a lot of what originally defined Resident Evil to us all.

    A varied and challenging game that continues the series' evolution into action territory. IT can be incredibly frustrating at times, but also very rewarding when you finally overcome the many challenges it puts you through.

    Capcom tried to satisfy all the fans of the series, but in the end, the result isn't what we expected. On the other hand, the great co-op mode and the variety of choices will keep players busy for a very long time.

    Where RE6 truly shines is in the game mechanics and ancillary modes. Mercs is back and better than ever. When married with all of the new mechanics (quick-shotting, rolling, aiming while laying down, and more), Mercs becomes a much more action oriented experience, which enhances the enjoyment of it tenfold.

    If you're a Resident Evil fan already, you've probably already pre-ordered the game and will enjoy the co-op gameplay sections and the continuation of the story-as fragmented as it is-from previous entries. If you're not, and are looking for an exemplary title in the series to try out, I suggest the 3DS-exclusive Resident Evil: Revelations, or if you're limited to the consoles, Resident Evil 4, instead.

    For some this will definitely not be enough. RE 6 is an uneven game that plays some dirty tricks on you, holds some of its more debatable design-choices in the highest regard and is way too hell-bent on blowing up each of its separate campaigns to full game length. Funnily enough in the end it's the secret Ada Wong campaign that just barely manages to hold everything together.

    In the end, you are getting a bloated game with a ridiculous amount of content that is spoiled by some unwanted QTE implementation and vehicle sections, and long boss fights. If you can look past those negatives, then the core gameplay is engaging and rewarding enough to be worthwhile.

    Resident Evil 6 is the biggest ode to fans you can think of. It has four complete games in one, combines much loved gameplay and characters in one package and is more survival oriented than 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 added together. But at the same time, Capcom completely ignores these fans in order to reach the masses with spectacular and unparalleled quick-time events. The result is a 40 hours long 'clusterf..k' of brilliant moments and frustration like you rarely see in games.

    Capcom offers an abundance of content. Some of it good, some less good. If you and a buddy take on this game at a very calm pace, it will give you loads of entertainment. If you only want the really good parts – play the Leon and Ada campaigns.

    Resident Evil 6 is not the blockbuster we were waiting for. The reason? Capcom decided to develop an action title instead of a survival horror game, despite their lack of knowledge players will be aware with the bad cover system. Of Course, everything is not that bad, to begin with its ingenious inventory, Jake Muller's campaign, or some of the QTE cleverly introduced all along the three different stories. However, the 30 hours of gameplay won't be enough to make Resident Evil 6 one the best episode of the IP.

    More shadows than lights in this latest entry of the long-lasting Capcom franchise. Resident Evil 6 proposes some confused ideas that turn into gameplay elements that give players some bitter-sweet sensations. Leon's campaign is the real star of the game and the only one that really deserves the Resident Evil label.

    The issue, though, is with conflicted gameplay; more specifically, scarcity of ammo and an annoying inventory system. Resident Evil 6 doesn't blend horror and explosive action, it simply sits awkwardly between them, leaving you with facing too many enemies with too few bullets.

    There are moments in Resident Evil 6 that peak as high as the very best games in Resident Evil history, but there are so many more that settle for mediocrity or much, much worse. With a nip and tuck this could have been something very special indeed. Instead, it's a great little Leon campaign with a hell of a lot of content that you should consider a worthwhile but extremely flawed bonus.

    At the end of the day, Resident Evil 6 is packed to the gills with features and absolutely looks the part, no one can deny that, but its lack of gameplay identity leaves it as empty and vacuous as the higher brain function of any one of its zombie inhabitants.

    Resident Evil 6 is crying out to be watched rather than played and it will gleefully punish you for daring to do so, in which case you might want to kick back and let someone else do all the hard work instead.

    As a survival horror game, Resident Evil 6 fails on almost every count. As an action game, it could be considered mediocre, and as a combination of the two it's little more than acceptable. If the main Resident Evil series continues along this path many long term survival horror fans will eventually tune out, and those who are keen on fast paced action may be interested to see what the series has in store next time round.

    I've had fun with Resident Evil 6 but that could be attributed to playing on Amateur. As written previously in this review, Amateur blunts ammo scarcity and control issues, makes things easier to kill, and sidesteps a lot of quicktime events, but it also allows forgiveness some of the really obvious backtracking the game puts the player through.

    When you get down to it, Resident Evil 6 isn't a horrible game, but it certainly isn't a great game, either. The action sequences and boss fights can be fun, and even challenging on rare occasion, but the whole experience blends together far too easily, feeling more like a generic action shooter than a classic Resident Evil game.

    Undoubtedly better than Resident Evil 5, this new episode of one of the greatest series will have trouble uniting people around its proposal. It is indeed very generous in terms of content, of story development, of its variety of sequences, but its still very action-focused atmosphere and clear shortcomings as a TPS make it feel dated and rigid, even though less than RE5. There's some good stuff in there, that's for sure, but also some poor choices as well.

    It's a bloated, often incoherent game, but the most frustrating thing about Resident Evil 6 is that (Chris's focus on cover shooting aside) it's not an unimaginative one. It might feel padded at times, but Capcom always has something new to show you after the filler, such as a fresh campaign, another repellent boss form, a surprising enemy type, a co-op vehicle section, or an odd location to explore.

    How far can cinematics get you when the gameplay sandwiched between them is so poorly paced, so utterly misconceived, so reliant on stick wriggles and button tapping? There's a place for contextual prompts and cinematic storytelling in video games, but Resident Evil 6 is a mishmash of elements put together without any sense of care or direction.

    Leaves players with the shell of a blockbuster game. It blusters along with massive explosions and insane plot twists, but it lacks a fundamental understanding of why action games are fun. In the end, Resident Evil 6 resembles one of its grotesque mutations - bloated, out of control, and recklessly trying to consume everything around it.

    Resident Evil 6 is a Michael Bay movie. There's really no more polite a way to put it. Stuffed to the gills with bombastic action segments, car chases, and relentless chaos, Capcom has abandoned any pretense of the survival horror genre and embraced a world of skin-deep Hollywood audacity. Listlessly wallowing in the depthless waters of homogeneity, Resident Evil 6 is a coward of a game, afraid to make its own individual mark in the industry and cravenly subscribing itself to every overplayed trope in the book.

    Yes, this is just like Raccoon City all over again: stilted, awkward, ridiculous, embarrassing, tedious. Except for the parts where it's like Call of Duty, which are equally stilted, awkward, ridiculous, embarrassing, and tedious, but with more NPC soldiers milling about. Resident Evil 6 is thoroughly oblivious to so many of the things that make a good game these days.

If you are looking for a game that successfully blends action and horror, again get off this page and go play Dead Space 2. Now, you are probably wondering if this is at least a solid action game. After spending 33 hours with this gigantic mess of a game, I can tell you with no exaggeration that this is a poor action game. As a die-hard RE fan, I really want to be somewhat generous, so let's start with the positives. The cutscenes and story are fabulous and mesmerizing. The enemy design is easily superior to most games out there. Furthermore, the graphics and shadow effects are truly well done and slightly better than its predecessor. Annnnnd that's it. Those are the positives. Now I really want to sum up the negatives with just one sentence if you don't mind: Ahem...The camera is poorly designed, quick-time events ruin immersion and annoy the living crap out of you, level design is utterly boring and uninspired, AI is mostly pathetic, horribly mediocre setpieces, horrible pacing, very annoying scripted events that screw you over each time, and finally the controls just don't fit a game like this. Overall, it is one massively disappointing entry in the Resident Evil series, a series I have loved for such a long time. It is not a good horror game (not scary in the slightest), it is not a good action game, and it is a very very poor Resident Evil game. Is it fun sometimes? Sure. Is it memorable?
