"Fails to deliver as both an action game and as a Thor game. Sega clearly put effort into incorporating Thor's background lore and they did an admirable job of incorporating a rogue's gallery pulled straight from the Marvel comics, but they ultimately failed in delivering a fun gaming experience. I cannot even recommend this game to fellow Thor fans, as the repetitive combat, unmemorable puzzles, and shoddy platforming prevent this adventure from even achieving rentable status."

"Thor for the 360 and PS3 is a sub-par God of War clone that does a surface-level job of replicating what makes that kind of game work, while missing the point of what works on any kind of deeper level. If you like that style of game, play either that series or any other games like it that have been mentioned. The lack of polish here makes it impossible to recommend as a purchase at any price, although if you must rent it, go with the 360 version since it lacks a mandatory 3GB install. If the movie's fresh in your mind and you want a fun Thor game to play, try out the 8-bit throwback on Marvel's site, or use him in Marvel vs. Capcom 3."

"With the movie being one of the biggest hits of the year ti date, it is a huge disappointment that the game was so far off the mark. We weren't expecting a God of War game but if done right it could of been pretty damn close. The lore was there, the combat, the possible beautiful worlds and yet somehow it was all overlooked and instead we get a decidely 'ok' game. "

"Destined to prematurely hit the bargain bucket of game stores worldwide, Thor fails miserably in its bid to reignite the action and excitement that this summers blockbuster superhero smash brought to the big screens in waves. "Overall, Thor feels like it is a rushed movie tie-in game with seemingly little thought about the core mechanics of the game, it feels too like there was little in the way of play testing prior to release. To sum up, this game has poor graphics, bad gameplay, average sounds and most likely will only see one play through, if that. At the end of the day, the game feels exactly like what it is, a rushed movie tie-in game."

"Thor: God of Thunder is what one would come to expect with other movie-licensed games. The cinematics are sub-par, the combo system is quite repetitive, and the difficulty is skewed. The only redeeming qualities I found were using the leveling system to actually refill your health and Odin Force, and the effects of the elemental attacks looked cool, but the fun factor is just not there."
