  1. Just about every change they have made to the core gameplay, aside from the stat-capping, works to perfection and provides hours upon hours of engaging golf.
  2. A good game of golf. A beautiful title on the Xbox 360 that should be used to sell HDTVs. A fun and deep experience on Xbox Live.

Most importantly, the gameplay keeps what we love about Tiger and adds True Aiming, which calls for course management and a bit of strategy.
  4. Woods games have often done volume, but this one does fidelity - and while the next-gen golfing genre isn't exactly broad, we suspect being the best in a field of one will do them fine, especially since, in this case, it feels like it is mostly as good as it could be.

The "True Aiming" system is a wonderful addition and the new putting changes make the game incredibly fun and well worth your time, while the practice range offers up a more flexible environment to build your overall stats.

Tremendously fun. The subtle nuances and sheer competitiveness still make it the best realistic golf experience out there. There are nagging issues that continue to get overlooked, but whether or not you've been playing the game in years past, Tiger 07 is a must-buy for cyber golfers.
  7. So it’s simple: if you’ve played every version of Tiger Woods, then there’s really no reason to pick up this latest one, especially given the amount of bugs and completely borked online play.

Stellar graphics, with a new aiming system that makes things a lot more challenging. The only downside is the commentary which is becoming very redundant after all this time. I think the game is great. The Tiger Challenge is difficult, and it takes work to build your golfer up. Hours of entertainment.

Tiger Woods 07, when you play it in 2019 is truly a case of "they don't make 'em like this anymore"

The golf genre is basically all but dead in 2019. You either play cartoon versions in Everybodys Golf or rough edged Indie developer versions in The Golf Club. Both games do parts of the genre/sport well but there was a time over a decade ago where golf games were big deals. I'd say Tiger Woods 07 probably lands smack in the prime of the series. It may not be the best game in the series but it certainly was the era where they were firing on all cylinders and had nearly perfected what made the series great.

Firstly, whilst based in reality Tiger Woods 07 is pretty unrealistic and by the time you've maxed your player out he'll be less of a golfer than some sort of magician who can magically alter ball spin in midair and allow for the ball the land 10 feet past the pin but roll backwards to within a foot of the cup. You'll routinely hit drives over 350 yards, routinely make Par 5s in 2 shots, routinely hit the ball within a feet feet from anywhere inside 200 yards. But despite not being exactly realistic it is incredible amounts of fun.

Developing in your character in Tiger Woods 07 is a very satisfying arc. You'll slowly take on tournaments and match play against pros until eventually you're this all consuming god tier golfer that even surpasses prime Tiger Woods.

So mixed in with very decent presentation, graphics that still hold up today and a decent if not exhaustive course selection and you have the makings of a solid game that honestly I've still enjoyed a few hours of even now, 12 years after its release.

There are a few glaring issues that stop this from being great however. The computer AI rubber-banding in tournaments is hilariously obvious for example. By the time you've played enough to max your character as previously mentioned I think it's more than fair to allow that character to dominate tournaments as he would do in real life, as Tiger did in his prime. However the AI will catch up to your score no matter what you shoot. I just completed a tournament with the admittedly ridiculous total score of -31 over 4 rounds. Now yes that is absurd but I guess it wouldn't be if there were a real golfer out there capable of routinely scoring Eagles on every single Par 5 in the world. What is even more absurd though is the fact that right up to about the 16th hole it was a close race and I believe 2nd place finished with -28. It's not just slightly unrealistic it's hilariously unrealistic and really transparently an attempt to manufacture tension even during the "end game" as it were.

What is irritating is when your character isn't quite a god yet, there IS genuine tension because you are about as good as the rest of the field. That is made to feel cheap somewhat when you realize that whether you'd played for one hour or thirty, the field is always going to be within 4 or 5 shots of you.

Another annoyance is the sheer amount of shots and particularly putts that will finish less than 6 inches short. You can play a tournament and easily have this happen to you 10 or 12 times in 4 rounds of golf. It gets frustrating until you've played the game so often you just sort of know that it is coming and laugh it off much like the rubber-banding.

But there is a lot the game does right. Loading times are remarkable even by modern day standards. You can rage quit, load the course again and be playing in around 10-15 seconds. That'd be impressive even in a current gen game. Between holes takes only a few seconds as well. Now I'm playing this on an ancient 360 I pulled out of storage so I can't remember if I installed the game and how much difference that used to make but the loading really impressed me.

There is a huge roster of golfers. Pretty much every big name is there and recreated wonderfully. However the custom golfers they created for you to go up against in match play mode really deserve praise. They didn't try to go to serious with it and it works massively in their favor. You tee off against hulking bodybuilder who let out a roar every time they drive the ball, an ancient old geezer in 1920s golf attire who keels over after making good putts. They are memorable and interesting to play against which just shows how much attention they were paying to making golf games back then.

The courses are varied and though there are some huge omissions in basically any Majors course that is more to do with Augusta being picky about licencing than anything EA Sports messed up.

It's an interesting trip down memory lane to play this now. It was a time when EA Sports weren't just phoning it in and they were making decent additions to their series every year. It was when golf games were popular enough to get effort put in.

It holds up well even against modern standards and that is to its credit. It is amongst the greatest golf games ever made; a title that nowadays isn't competed much for
