A considerable improvement over its already fantastic predecessor. The addition of customization options to the single player game - and allowing that progress to transfer over to all of the other gameplay modes - is by far the best enhancement, while the beefed up AI is as impressive as we'd hoped and the refined co-op play offers a great range of options.
If you like tactical shooters then this game is most certainly a must buy. If you are new to Rainbow games, then this is as good place to start as any as knowledge of the first game isn't essential for the experience.

I'm very suprised the user score isnt higher for this,but ah well.. For my general overview of this game,everything applies from my Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 review,plus what follows in this review for this game.This game,like Vegas 1,has great detailed graphics,great choice of equipment & weapons,& a great campaign & well told story,but one phrase that comes to my mind when thinking about the R6 Vegas games,is "They give with one hand,& take away with the other".& by that i mean Both titles have online & offline campaign Co-Op(Great),but you never quite get it 'all' in either title..i'll **** Vegas 1,you can have 4 player Co-Op in the campaign(again,great),but when played in Co-Op,you dont get any story cutscenes or **** merely play individual missions,without any sense of **** in Vegas 2,you have all the cutscenes & storytelling in Co-Op,but only 2 player Co-Op..Whats the crack!? can we have both next time please? is it too much to ask? But due to the fact that it does at least have on & offline Co-Op,& the whole story while doing so,plus other improvments,like being able to use your own custom character in all the modes including campaign,& the leveling system(PEC or Persistent Elite Creation),that unlocks more equipment,Armour & weapons,(You even see your rank badge on your character),in which you earn experience points in all modes,(Thankfully including campaign,for a change,for those like me,who have no interest in multiplayer modes)this game gets full marks from me.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a solid game that should prove enjoyable to fans of single-player and online shooting fun. We highly recommend Ubisoft's latest outing in 2008.
In short, if you’re a fan of the original Vegas or have more than just a passing interest, then by all means, check this one out; just don’t expect profound amounts of innovation.
If you played the first game to death and are absolutely ready for more, Vegas 2 is right up your alley, but all those similarities mean that you’ll probably burn out on this one a bit faster.
Multiplayer is bound to keep you occupied and the fact that you can overcome battle situations in a unique way each time, offers a solid amount of replayability.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is a let-down in as much as it caters for its target audience, but does little to refresh or invigorate the series as a whole.
Vegas 2 is an astonishingly good time. While its single-player mode is above average for what an FPS might offer, the game's two-player Terrorist Hunt mode is where the game absolutely excels. From the progression cycle that allows you to upgrade your gear in an unobtrusive and meaningful way to the terrorists' meme-worthy quotes peppered throughout intermittent firefights, this game is masterful in its execution. The gameplay is suspenseful, the controls are smooth (albeit not absolutely perfect), and there is even a unique endearing charm to the game that helps it stand the test of time and age gracefully.
Vegas 2 is leaps and bounds above many shooters in the genre. I would even dare to call it underrated, as this is not a game I often hear compared to the titans of the genre (i.e. Halo, Call of Duty, etc.), yet I firmly believe it deserves to stand among them.

In my opinion Vegas 2 was the best rainbow six game in the series up to that point. Today standards the graphics are still good but the gameplay controls are a little wonky, also the A.I of the enemy can easily be exploited

Firstly, this is not Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, this is more like Rainbow Six 1.5. I wouldn't go as far to say that this feels like a mere expansion pack. It still has a lengthy career and an improved multiplayer component. However, Vegas 2 feels all to similar to the first one. This is not necessarily a letdown, if you enjoyed the original Rainbow Six : Vegas, you will thoroughly enjoy it's successor. Vegas 2 has a story that is good enough to to keep the player immersed in the action,but it is by no means spectacular, but ties in with various missions to give the player a sense of purpose. However, if you expect the story to tie any loose ends in the previous iteration, you will be disappointed. You take control of a player named Bishop, and you will guide him through a narrative that runs parallel to the original Vegas storyline. Gameplay remains much the same, with a few tweaks such a tightened cover system and the introduction of a sprint function. It proves very useful in the game, especially when you are being overwhelmed by a large number of enemies. Enemy AI can range from tactical and aggressive, to downright daft. Throughout the game enemies will attempt to flank you and use cover. It forces the player to use some light tactical combat. There are very few instances where one can just "run-and-gun". A few set-pieces in the game, I encountered stupendous AI which affected my two team mates. From time to time, your team mates will attempt to go gung-ho and land up in impossible situations. This is a further annoyance because it's up to you to revive them. In most of these occurrences you will get caught in the crossfire and start again at the nearest checkpoint. In terms of graphics, Vegas 2 is identical to it's predecessor. Back in 2006, the original Vegas set the bar high for next-generation gaming. However, two years later, it does come across as sub-par. Nonetheless, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will still appeal to fans of the first game. It has a stellar campaign, and a brand new leveling system, that expands throughout the various game modes, single-player or online. Then again, Vegas 2 does not introduce anything new in terms of visuals, gameplay and story. So if you did not like the first game, don't even bother.â

Played recently with a friend because it's free with Gold and whatnot, and this game is horrible. The gun mechanics are pretty ridiculous in that even when you use a scope, your bullets will NOT go straight. you can be aiming right at some dudes face and the bullet will miss unless you use a sniper. Speaking of snipers, that's pretty much the only gun you want along with a shot gun, because it's the only thing that has actual aim and can kill in one shot. Also, there is apparently no melee, which I feel is pretty ridiculous for a stealth game and any shooter in general. You can outfit your character, but to no noticeable degree because you'll get 2 shot in the endgame by pretty much everyone regardless of your armor stat. Basically, this game feels clunky and unfinished through and through, where the only reason it's difficult is because you're wrestling with it's horrible controls the entire time.
Your two teamates, while useful for clearing a couple enemies in a close room, become a huge hindrance in larger fights where they keep dying or just plain getting in your way.
Furthermore, the story boiled down to, and I'm not kidding, a former Rainbow member goes full terrorist mode because he has horrible Father issues. Like, what?
So what is it good for? Playing with a friend and laughing about how atrocious this game is.
