Anyone that played the PC version should be right at home here. In fact, the game is basically the same all around, which, disappointingly, means that the XBLA version of the game also lacks co-op. This is the only real downside to Torchlight.

Minor graphical issues and clunky inventory management aside, Torchlight for XBLA does a spectacular job of translating a PC dungeon hack-and-slasher to two analogue sticks and face buttons.

If you liked Diablo then Torchlight is your thing! The fingerprints of the former Blizzard developers are all over this and it feels great. This game proofs that this genre is not out-dated. Get yourself back in the mood for a dungeon crawler.

Just as the PC version, Torchlight is a fun experience, with a lot of exploring, looting, combating and side-questing. It lacks a multiplayer coop mode, it has some framerate issues and it's rather short by genre's standards, but it's an interesting game overall. Recommended for hardcore action-RPG fans.

Runic have created a highly-accessible dungeon crawling game that's highly competitive with the best of the genre.

Movement feels smoother with the analogue stick, and that inevitably helps when you're crawling your way through hordes of skeletons.

Torchlight is an awkward game to assess. On one hand, the gameplay is a major disappointment in that it's worse than Diablo II in every way, but on the other hand it has no major flaws and, even for a hater of easy games like me, gets addicting once the Shadow Vault, an unending postgame dungeon whose enemies are tied to your level, becomes available.

If you love Diablo, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath, or any other hank n' slash dungeon crawling RPG you will looooove Torchlight! I have been waiting a year and it was well worth the wait. In this day and age I am not a fan of point and click PC dungeon crawlers. We have controllers. We have analog sticks...time to upgrade the formula. A must buy! Expand

For that kind of money its an excellent game it is fun and is a little piece of heaven. After the storyline having the random dungeons and endless loot with different stats will keep you busy for a while. Being able to pass down items to new characters is a nice touch, like I say people expect far too much for an arcade game that costs $15.00. Its well worth it. Expand

    Why a gave a 4?

Well i will copy the text I sent to the customer-support of runic-games. Hello,

maybe I am just a single customer but as I read in a lot of forums you did two big mistakes with the xbox version of torchlight.

1.) You totally screwed it up in a technical way. The Xbox can handle games like Gears of War 2 without major framerate issuses, but torchlight cant handle it? FAIL!

2.) Your idea of saving up the multiplayer, especially coop, is strange. In my, and many other games opinion you did that on purpose to ensure that everybody wo thought "man, that is a really good game, but i wish there would have been online coop!" is eager to buy torchlight 2.

Furthermore you kept the console gamers waiting for over 1 year and what did you finally gave them? A sloppy PC conversion with a acceptable UI. Thats all you have to offer for console gamers?

You know what? I'll save the money for Torchlight 2 and spend it on Dungeon Hunter Alliance / Dungeon Siege 3 / Diablo 3. To satisfy my "coop-hunger" I'll play DIABLO 1 on PSX, because this game managed to implement a coop mode!
