  • Summary: Sprint between saw blades while dodging homing missiles and duck under lasers while the floor crumbles beneath you. Almost There was designed specifically for fans of the hardcore platforming genre - you've been warned.

Almost There provides a breath of fresh air, especially should you enjoy hardcore platformers. Sadly though, the awkward jumping is something that takes away from the engagement.

Almost There doesn’t hold your hand when it comes to the game's mechanics so figuring out what to do yourself, made the gameplay feelAlmost There doesn’t hold your hand when it comes to the game's mechanics so figuring out what to do yourself, made the gameplay feel rewarding. I’ve completed more than my share of difficult platforming games during my lifetime as a gamer. Most of the time, these game’s deliver much frustration even when done well due the difficulty, this frustration didn’t stop me from returning back to those game’s time and time again. Almost There: The Platformer is definitely in this league and though it’s not the best game I’ve ever played in this genre it still does enough to make it stand out. The game is about getting from start to finish and the quantity of levels is decent as well. Mastering each of the levels also gives the game replay ability. However, fair warning this game will likely make your frustration level rise multiple times during your play through. Thankfully the game doesn’t give you any unnecessary problems and the controls always feel tight and responsive. Each mechanic that gets introduced along the way has been done well. If you’re a fan of being challenged then Almost There: The Platformer will be a must buy for you and while it's not a perfect experience it still gets more right than it gets wrong. Thumbs Up! Expand
