A new beat 'em up entry for the French characters that Mr. Nutz, the developer in charge turned into a great modern jewel for the genre.

Asterix & Obélix Slap Them All! It stays at half throttle and does not get what it is looking for.

Asterix and Obelix: Slap them all! is a fun yet familiar beat-em-up title. It doesn't break the mould and there are better examples of the genre. However, it looks great, has a wonderful soundtrack, and will make you laugh.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap them All! gets very repetitive very early. The artstyle is charming, voiceovers are great and you will have some fun in cooperation, but the gameplay loop is just very repetitive.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! was fun for the first two chapters, then I realized I had to sit through another four of the same button spamming. Normally I’m all for length in games if it has a purpose and is entertaining, but Slap Them All definitely overstayed its welcome and I made myself finish it simply for review purposes. Asterix & Obelix fans will no doubt enjoy its authentic look and feel, but the steep price tag is unlikely to warrant a purchase from brawler fans.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All ends up being a game full of wonderfully hand-drawn visuals and extremely repetitive combat. It makes it hard to really recommend this game to anyone other than those that are fans of the duo. While yes, some young kids may enjoy the overly simplistic nature of the game; anyone who is an older gamer will become quickly bored with the easy combat, and lack of new moves or attacks.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! feels like a missed opportunity to give the world the Asterix game that we have been waiting for. There is no progression, no making the heroes stronger, and at the end, no real desire to see the game through to a conclusion. It’s the same characters and the same action, for level after level, with a different backdrop. Sadly this makes for a dull game.

The game looks nice visually, but this is the last plus. The story is super basic and non-interesting. The gameplay quickly becomes repetitiveThe game looks nice visually, but this is the last plus. The story is super basic and non-interesting. The gameplay quickly becomes repetitive and boring. Attacks are not well balanced - the easiest way to pass the game is by playing Asterix all the time and using grab and throw action on enemies, then simply finishing them off. Obelix has nothing similar to offer, so... you end up playing only with Asterix. Expand
