While traveling from Liverpool to New York your ship was pulled down into a massive maelstrom and you woke up in a place that may have never been gazed upon by the eyes of men. From now on your goal is to ascend from the bowels of the earth and return to civilization.

Enjoy dozens of exciting levels with variable gameplay in the story mode. The Jules Vernesque story of your journey will be told with gorgeous animated full screen cut scenes and professional voice overs. You'll experience awe and wonder through all the eight fantastic scenes that change constantly as you move through them.

Azkend 2 presents you several different and exciting level styles throughout the adventure. You can also earn almost 20 unique powerups and over a dozen achievements. Choose your powerups wisely for each level to hasten your journey.

In addition Azkend 2 has two challenge game modes called Time and Medals. The Time-challenge is a quick two minute bite-sized game where you'll try to gain as many points as possible and gain fame on the leaderboards. In the Medals-challenge you can replay all the levels from the story and try to gain a medal from each one.

These minor wrinkles aside, Azkend 2: The World Beneath is a great match 3 game from a developer that clearly understands the genre and knows how to give gamers what they want. It’s well worth the asking price and definitely worth your time.

The game is fun, especially for fans of matching games, despite its awkward controls. Successfully completing levels opens up new challenges and new abilities, keeping the game fun while encouraging the improvement of skills. The main campaign can be done in under fifteen hours, giving gamers plenty of time solving puzzles without turning into a major grind.

Although Azkend 2 is similar to the beloved Bejeweled, the addition of a good story makes this one of my favourite puzzle games yet.

A decent match 3 game with a good amount of contents, but feeling uninspired and with a clunky control system.

The core puzzle gameplay of Azkend 2: The World Beneath is a lot of fun, but it really seems that it is meant for a tablet or cellular phone, not the Xbox One.

A well-presented and generally enjoyable experience for those who typically wouldn't enjoy match-three puzzlers. The story is a bit lame, and the image recognition screens are banal, but neither prevented me from taking pleasure in the otherwise relaxing experience that Azkend 2 offers.

Luckily, the game is not overly pricey at $7.99 and the alternate modes help to keep the interest up, with score chasing on the leaderboard always available to be relied upon to add some interest. With that said, match-3 games are generally good for relaxation, but with the control gremlins to contend with, this isn't one that we found to be terribly restful.
