Batman: The Enemy Within is flying high at the moment, with a cast of intriguing characters bearing their own identities which feel unique to the series, despite many of them having multiple incarnations in other forms of media.

With The Pact, Batman: The Enemy Within is hitting all the familiar notes for Telltale frequenters. For Batman fans, however, it's using those notes to play a really special tune so far. Some reservations are still in order as this trajectory mirrors last season's which fell quickly after the early parts of the season. For now, at least, The Enemy Within is giving longtime fans of the Dark Knight an exciting mix of new and old plotlines while carefully balancing the widest range of villains the series has dealt with so far. We'll know if The Enemy Within is a truly memorable Telltale product if they can avoid their middle episode valley, but for now, it remains worth getting into costume.

There’s still a lot to like about The Pact, it continues this season’s trend of improved animation and performance for the series. And with origin stories and background out of the way, it means that new ideas can take the front seat – as realised in the depictions of newcomers Bain and Harley Quinn. It also ends on a cliff-hanger, which will no doubt make the wait for Episode Three feel that much longer. Overall, a good but not great episode.

With the introduction of new enemies and focusing more on Bruce Wayne character, the second episode of The Enemy Within tries to develop characters relationships and take the story to a new direction. However, you are still playing what developers want and no matter what you do, you can’t have an impact on the outcome of the story.

But where Telltale’s best adventures make you feel like your choices matter, ‘The Pact’ fails miserably in that department.

This episode is boring. The conversations are not entertaining enough and there's not so much to explore. Forget this one en let's hope that episode 3 will get the second season back on track.
