This is an uphill battle towards the massive fortresses of Verdun. A constant grinding struggle where the artillery never stops. Where the forge and “the Devil’s Anvil” continues to consume even the bravest combatants. NEW MAP: FORT DE VAUX - The first big engagement inside a fort during World War 1 takes place in the dark underworld of Fort de Vaux. Down in the maze of dark galleries and wet stone corridors, French and Germans fight ferociously with grenades, guns, bayonets, and flamethrowers. Watch your corners. NEW MAP: SOISSONS - Take part in one of the biggest tank assaults of World War 1. The French 10th Army moves to take back Soissons using their powerful Saint Chamond tanks. Planes, tanks, and infantry clash in the beautiful French countryside in the early hours of a hot summer day. Only the thunderstorm is louder than the war. NEW MAP: RUPTURE - In dire need to capture key bridges across the Aisne river, the French find themselves back into battlefields where poppies grow over a rusty wreck from previous tank battles. It might seem calm but this maze of steel beasts provides an excellent place for those who plan an ambush. As the sun sets over Fontenoy, the battle wakes up. [Electronic Arts] Expand

One of the best expansion packs in a long while, They Shall Not Pass delivers excellent gameplay, and captures the spirit of World War I better than anything thus far.

I’m happy to report that these four new maps are unique enough to justify the addition and definitely won’t feel like rehashed content.

Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass DLC is another impressive expansion from DICE. Ultimately worth the wait, the inclusion of the French army, weaponry and historical maps fit perfectly into the game. This DLC has something for everyone, whether you just wanted new maps to play your favorite modes, something new to sink your teeth into in Frontlines, or more World War I lore in the Operations mode.

Battlefield 1 already had plenty of content to enjoy for many months but its first expansion seems necessary to all Battlefield players. They Shall not Pass is set on the French front, one of the most affected of the First World War. Four huge and complete maps are waiting for you in an almost indispensable DLC.

DICE has turned the red poppy as the symbol of this first DLC, They Shall Not Pass. It's visuals are as intense as at the original game, which is saying a lot. Its gameplay does not vary much, but it has enough content.

If your like me and you bought the premium pass then you will feel like this is a good start to BF1 DLC package. The 4 maps are well designedIf your like me and you bought the premium pass then you will feel like this is a good start to BF1 DLC package. The 4 maps are well designed and 5 new primary weapons are also well done. I will say that I was also expecting one or two secondary weapons to be included as well. As there is not much choose for french secondary weapons with in the game. It also includes new mele weapons and also include mele weapons to be unlocked via puzzle pieces. I think they went abit of board with the mele weapons although I would of preferred more guns. The only real downside to this DLC is having to unlock the weapons. Some are more easily unlocked than others and some are abit of a pain. For example having to kill 50 enemys with one specif mele weapon to unlock just one of the mele seems to hard a changle and will probably take most people quite a few weeks of game-play to unlock all the new weapons. The is also other changes like get 5 headshotts in a round with a certain gun is will defiantly frustrate some people. However some people will like the challenge of unlocking new stuff. It will defiantly really bug some people that they will probably never unlock some weapons. To put a warning out there THE WEAPONS ARE HARD TO UNLOCK DO NOT BUY THIS DLC IF YOU WANT INSTANT ACCESS TO ALL THE WEAPONS IT WILL TAKE YOU MANY MANY HOURS TO UNLOCK ALL THE WEAPONS.

Other downside is the new maps make the normaps actually seems quite bad. I mean the maps few much more like a ww1 setting and by setting the verdun maps in 1916 they didn't actually limit themselfs but actually found new ways to make the game execting with new Artillery and good map design such as in 'Verdun heights'. I think dice can learn alot from this that not every operation and map has to be set in 1918 and that not ever operation needs a behemoth although the behemoth in 'Beyond the marnie' Is cool the 'Devils anvil' was very refreshing to see a new type of map design that actually capture the essence of ww1 much better than other else in BF1 yet.

in this review i will not only be reviewing the dlc but i will also be reviewing all the latest patch notes as well the they shall not passin this review i will not only be reviewing the dlc but i will also be reviewing all the latest patch notes as well the they shall not pass dlc comes with 4 new maps 5 new primary weapons between the 4 solider classes with most off them performing very different from the original weapons thought not over powered in my opinion although the new LMG can be more powerful then the other LMGS but only if your shots are really accurate the 4 new maps are really fun to play on but 2 out of the 4 of them use to many textures that already exist in the base game to make them look unique in my opinion the new game mode front lines is also a really good game mode you find that the weaker team will spent the vast majority off the time on the defensive and the better team mostly on offence i quite enjoyed the new game mode since if your team is actually really good you would be more of a challenge to win then it would be other wise on the other game modes where as the other team since they just need to defend they territory they would last longer then they would other wise in operations i hope they make this game mode possible to play on the base game maps and allow non premium pass players to play the game mode other wise the game mode will be irreverent in the next mouth they also was a new behemoth tank also being added to 2 out off the 4 maps but the other 2 maps don t have a behemoth at all which sucks so if your team is getting their ass kicked on those 2 maps that don t have that behemoth tank your not getting extra fire power to make a comeback then theirs the operation game mode on the new maps i cant say if their good or not because i was not able to play it i waited in several lobby's for at least 15 min and could not get one started this is because the operations game mode is not available to search on the sever browser this has been ask by the fans to add since the launch of bf1 and here we are almost 6 months later and still no server browser for operations and since im not able to play operations on the new maps which was the game mode i was most exited for to play on the new maps i feel as if 20% of the dlc is physically missing:( and i mention the other patch notes as well i won,t go through all of them i just go other the most important ones emergency repair has been nerved from
repairing 30 damage all the way down to 10 or 9 damage for some reason its random weather you get repaired 10 or 9 i don t know if that was a bug or intentional but a good change overall so assault classes stand more off a chance taking on a good tank player you are no longer able to resupply grenades from ammo bags but instead gain a (natural) ability to regenerate one EVERY 30 seconds WTF this change was also on the CTE of bf1 fans demanded the debs to not have this change in the game but they put it in anyway because they where either to lazy or arrogant to do it and in a game that last for 30 min your expected to experience just under 4000 grenades to be thrown and that is not counting the grenade launcher that the medic has the anti tank grenades and the dynamite the assault classes have and the mortars and the crossbow grenade that the supports have and the automatico and the hellrigell are still the most powerful weapons in the game which has been that way since launch iv seen more and better balance changes to overwatch in a month then bf1,s entire life cycle so far thats my review for the first bf1 dlc im sorry if it was overly long for some of you but i want players to know what their getting before they get this dlc
