Battlefield Hardline is a two-pronged success, with a killer cops-and-robbers story backed by a speedy take on competitive play.

Battlefield: Hardline may seem like simply an expansion to the fourth entry in the game, but after diving in I enjoy it a lot more than the previous effort. The campaign is a breath of fresh air, and the multiplayer adds enough to make it stand out.

On the multiplayer side, Hardline provides a solid and very compelling, even if highly BF4-like, experience, with some very entertaining new modes; the single player campaign resulted in a satisfying experience too, but we would have liked proper, full-blown stealth gameplay, rather than the unconvincing mix Visceral presented us.

The simplicity of the campaign's stealth gameplay and the enemies' readiness to submit at the sound of "Freeze!" is comical, though the silliness was not likely Visceral's intention.

Unless you have friends to play online with right away, wait for a price drop before pinning on your police badge or slipping into a ski mask. Hardline is good but it's not exactly a necessity.

Battlefield Hardline's new gameplay mechanics don't work all the time. This game developed by Visceral Games is generic and pretty forgettable, but if you enjoy competitive multiplayer, you should try it.

Battlefield Hardline feels like a valiant attempt from Visceral and EA, but the gritty crime drama that they're aiming for comes out as an underwhelming effort. Multiplayer offers some fun moments, but it doesn't do enough with the concept to feel like a major leap in the world of first-person shooters. Meanwhile, the campaign feels bogged down under the weight of silly cliches and doesn't offer enough of a tactical, strategic cop experience.

This is a great example of taking a core set of game mechanics and breaking a mold that has become stale. Being able to play a cops/criminalsThis is a great example of taking a core set of game mechanics and breaking a mold that has become stale. Being able to play a cops/criminals themed game of this caliber has been refreshing. The graphics are the best I have seen in any of the modern FPS. The single player is brilliant and feels like you are in a movie. The multiplayer is what you expect from a company that has been at this for so long. The release was flawless without any of the issues seen in the previous 2 releases. The mechanics are solid, responsive, and lightning fast. Overall, this is the best Battlefield to date and I have played them all. Expand

TheI honestly don't know what all the negativity is about with this game so far because this is the best Battlefield since Bad Company 2! The single player campaign is definitely the best in the series and it feels like you are playing through episodes of a crime drama. The multiplayer is of course the most important thing in my opinion and it definately has something for everyone! Whether it's the classic large scale conquest mode or the new modes like Blood Money, Hotwire or Rescue. Please do not listen to the negative reviews because they are all a bunch of butthurt COD fanboys. Expand

Multi-player is fantastic. I've played fps's since 2005 and this is fun. If you want a deep single player campaign with replay ability then I would look elsewhere. If you want fast gameplay, clean shooting, awesome team work capabilities, then give this game a shot. Almost all of the reviews say the multiplayer side is great. Heck, check youtube. Some of the most respected battlefield community members are saying the multiplayer is great. It's not battlefield 5 so quit comparing it to 4. It's a new franchise basically that takes the best of infantry combat from battlefield and amps it up. If you loved bf3 close quarters this is awesome. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Personally I do not feel that the game is that great, it is basically a clone of Battlefield 4 with another theme. I do think that they could've done more with regarding the weapons or developing the "police vs criminals" theme aspect. The game mode "Hotwire" and "Heist" are fun, somewhat different to the old militaristic sort of game type of the other battlefields. However, "Hotwire" and "Heist" gets boring after 3-4hours due to limited amount of maps, and on occasions I feel that "Hotwire" just turns into Need for Speed, with guns added to the game, which can get tedious. What the biggest disappointment for me is the fact that they still included Conquer in the game. A. It does not suit well with the theme of police vs criminals. B. The maps are just too small for it to work, Battlefield 4 has way bigger maps, and the conquer suits with the theme of military battles.

After watching Totalbicuit's review on the game, there is one point I do agree with him, that the weapons do not fit the theme at all, and that both the police and criminals have military equipments, furthermore I do agree with TB in the fact that they should include less lethal equipment.

Even with this criticism I think that the game is by no means bad, it is certainly interesting to see something different coming out, however I would like them to develop it further with additional DLC.

I became very bored within the first hour. During the campaign, too much time spent in cut-scenes that cannot be skipped to start off with. Like many other users have said, it makes no sense that one cop can hold up three hardened criminals with a simple flash of the badge without them going off on you. The graphics are sub par to say the least for a next gen game. Vehicles handle like you're playing Cruisin' USA...not worth the 60. Try to find a used copy or rent one from redbox. Expand

All the positives for this game are in the campaign. It was fun, with a good story, and some interesting levels.

    Multiplayer is terrible.
All the positives for this game are in the campaign. It was fun, with a good story, and some interesting levels.

Multiplayer is terrible. It's so disorganized, and hectic. I've never been killed at spawns like I am in this game, and I don't think its because people are camping, its really because people are running around just trying to survive more than 5 seconds.

The way guns/upgrades unlock, and have to be purchased is my biggest gripe. I just want to log on and play. I don't want to have to manage my money, and plan what upgrades my budget will allow. I don't want to have to research the best alternatives and options before I purchase something. This game is not a job, but it feels like one with all silliness introduced with Hardline.

I love the BF series, and am very worried Hardline is a sign of things to come. Hopefully they'll lean from the mistakes made on this game, and will be able to put out a great BF5
