Battlefield Hardline is a two-pronged success, with a killer cops-and-robbers story backed by a speedy take on competitive play.

Battlefield: Hardline may seem like simply an expansion to the fourth entry in the game, but after diving in I enjoy it a lot more than the previous effort. The campaign is a breath of fresh air, and the multiplayer adds enough to make it stand out.

On the multiplayer side, Hardline provides a solid and very compelling, even if highly BF4-like, experience, with some very entertaining new modes; the single player campaign resulted in a satisfying experience too, but we would have liked proper, full-blown stealth gameplay, rather than the unconvincing mix Visceral presented us.

The simplicity of the campaign's stealth gameplay and the enemies' readiness to submit at the sound of "Freeze!" is comical, though the silliness was not likely Visceral's intention.

Unless you have friends to play online with right away, wait for a price drop before pinning on your police badge or slipping into a ski mask. Hardline is good but it's not exactly a necessity.

Battlefield Hardline's new gameplay mechanics don't work all the time. This game developed by Visceral Games is generic and pretty forgettable, but if you enjoy competitive multiplayer, you should try it.

Battlefield Hardline feels like a valiant attempt from Visceral and EA, but the gritty crime drama that they're aiming for comes out as an underwhelming effort. Multiplayer offers some fun moments, but it doesn't do enough with the concept to feel like a major leap in the world of first-person shooters. Meanwhile, the campaign feels bogged down under the weight of silly cliches and doesn't offer enough of a tactical, strategic cop experience.

Being able to play a cops/criminalsThis is a great example of taking a core set of game mechanics and breaking a mold that has become stale. Being able to play a cops/criminals themed game of this caliber has been refreshing. The graphics are the best I have seen in any of the modern FPS. The single player is brilliant and feels like you are in a movie. The multiplayer is what you expect from a company that has been at this for so long. The release was flawless without any of the issues seen in the previous 2 releases. The mechanics are solid, responsive, and lightning fast. Overall, this is the best Battlefield to date and I have played them all. Expand

I honestly don't know what all the negativity is about with this game so far because this is the best Battlefield since Bad Company 2! TheI honestly don't know what all the negativity is about with this game so far because this is the best Battlefield since Bad Company 2! The single player campaign is definitely the best in the series and it feels like you are playing through episodes of a crime drama. The multiplayer is of course the most important thing in my opinion and it definately has something for everyone! Whether it's the classic large scale conquest mode or the new modes like Blood Money, Hotwire or Rescue. Please do not listen to the negative reviews because they are all a bunch of butthurt COD fanboys. Expand

    NOT A $60 RE-SKIN
People have been bad mouthing the game as a simple re-skin of Battlefield 4 with less mechanized combat and a dumbed down combat system. This is totally inaccurate. The campaign mode alone sets this game apart from any other Battlefield Title and in fact any other First Person Shooter. You can call the campaign boring, predictable, and simple but the fact is that the campaign is a huge departure from what the series usually focuses on and that innovation alone should set this title apart. No Call of Duty Game has ever had the guts to break with the standard "shoot everything til its dead" formula of the FPS and Battlefield actually did so with this game. If you didn't like the campaign then fine, but at least it was a departure and a welcome one at that from the normal FPS formula.
Now for the multiplayer. Calling it a re-skin is ludicrous. It has similar game modes and it is versus combat using guns, yes, but it adds new dynamics such as non-lethal takedowns followed by interrogations, vehicle based control points in Hotwire, and tactical objective based modes like Crosshair and Rescue. These new modes set the game apart and even if they do not actually follow a "cops and robbers" theme, they do at least try to incorporate that aspect into the reasoning. People complaining about things like: "Cops don't use Stinger missiles and RPGs or have access to various SMGs and Assault rifles that are in the game" are being asinine. If the game were that rigid in its design it would be no fun. Too many people went into this game expecting a lot more than they had any reason to. Yes it would be nice if the environments were more destruct-able or if there were a larger variety of weapons with actual distinct differences in their handling, but those are aspects of BF4, play that game if that's what you want. This game is more of a ground based infantry focused shooter with varied tactical modes and a less "hardcore cometitive" environment.

BFH definitely takes fresh new approach on the campaign. No longer it is a boring, ridiculous, and cliche war drama. It's pretty much police tv show on a video game. The campaign obviously has a lot of inspiration from CSI series and any other crime drama you have watched. The car chases, arresting criminals, and investigating drug dealing....It all feels refreshing. However, all the cliché moments, corny lines, and silly moments makes campaign kinda bad.

The multiplayer is like a double-edged sword. On one side you got all the refreshing approach by having new game modes, features, and gadgets. On the other hand, you got limited weapons that takes way too long to earn, cops/crooks restricted weapons, OP armored vehicles, and terrible balancing issue on Hardcore mode. You actually take less damage when you are playing hardcore.

In conclusion, although this game is fun, I think it is the worst BF ever made
