There’s clearly a lot of passion and work put into this, and it’s charming and upbeat, with retro influences clear on its sleeves. However, it simply needs so much more polish that I cannot currently recommend a purchase to anyone.

BCD?! Is clearly a budget title from a small team, something evidenced by the credits appearing on the walls of the hub area. For what it’s worth, I quite like the art style, and the music recalls the classic Diddy Kong Racing at times; all chirpy, bouncy race tunes. But even so, it simply isn’t any fun to play. The terrible camera angle is the biggest bugbear – just raising it up a tad would improve things no end. Even then, the erratic handling, lack of feedback or information and general blandness to proceedings would still be in place. A shame, but when there’s so many other great racers out there, I can’t find any reason to recommend checking this out.

Game play is served up in typical kart racing fashion. With crazy powerups and chaotic races at times. The game provides the gamer with multiple zones that the player can free roam around, although these are not huge they are enough to have a little bit of a race around in and they do come with their own races gates, this giving the player e decent amount to explore and enjoy. Also offering up different game mode types (Race, Time Trial and Picnic Battles where you need to eat as much of the food as possible). However I did feel even though the game may be targeted at a younger audience or a less confident gamer, it never really offered up too much of a challenge and spent most of the time at the front of the pack and deliberately dropped back to use power-ups. Visually the game is colorful with cartoon styled designs. I did feel a somewhat of a 3D attempt effect and it was strange but was quite nice to see. The controls are very simple and easy to use, suited to the games target younger audience who may not be fully confident with using the control fully. With steering easy enough on most levels and a bit trickier on ice levels to add a slight challenge. Overall: A good game for the younger players out there but I feel older gamers may feel disappointed due to lack of challenge and the lack of ceremony after wins. If you want something for the kids or something with little challenge then grab this, otherwise there is much better options out there. Expand
