There's certainly room for difficult and frustrating platformers that eventually reward you when you succeed, but Bounce Rescue! rarely feels worth the trouble because it's challenging for all the wrong reasons.

There are plenty of problems found in Bounce Rescue, and these outweigh the positives tenfold, but the biggest by far is that the game lacks the fun element we all need from an indie title. Feelings of frustration and unfairness instead preside over nearly everything that this game delivers. And that’s not good in anyone’s book.

Bounce Rescue! is yet another 2D platformer that fails miserably to relay a worthwhile adventure. The controls are far from precise, the enemy variation is poor and the world design is bland and repetitive. This all goes hand in hand to produce a frustrating experience that spends far too much time annoying the player. Despite the fun multiplayer modes, Bounce Rescue! isn’t worth your time and attention.

The levels are difficult, but the real difficulty of the game comes from all the aggravation the player will deal with from their jumps not registering, constant deaths from invulnerable enemies, the irritating progression back to your most recent checkpoint and the constant failures due to not meeting the time constraints. It’s really the type of game that you wouldn’t recommend to anyone based on how much it fails on all fronts.

Unfortunately Bounce Rescue! is another game that falls short in certain areas, and whilst it offers some fun from time to time it just doesn’t do enough to hold your attention a lot of the time. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t all doom and gloom though and without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is when you play with friends. When played this way you can actually have a lot of fun and it does hold your attention quite considerably, but unfortunately it doesn’t do the same when you play on your own and all you seem to notice is the problems the game has. The biggest problem for me were the controls. The controls don’t always remain responsive and this is a major sin because in a platformer the controls should be on point at all times otherwise the amount of frustration can become unbearable especially when you die because of the controls. I was also a little disappointed with the platforming side of the game and the floaty movement and jumping can be very off-putting indeed at times. These problems are a shame because they’ve implemented a very easy to pick up and play style which means gamers of all ages can play, but this style unfortunately gets muddled up quite quickly thanks to the controls and floaty movements. In terms of content there isn’t a great deal for you to get to grips with and maybe this is a good thing because the content that is here lacks in terms of variety. Without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is when played in short bursts because when played for long periods you notice how shallow the gameplay really is. This shallowness is profound in both the enemies and level design and fighting the same enemies time and time again in the same boring level design does make things become tedious very quickly. I did however enjoy the presentation side of things even though nothing extraordinary has been implemented here. The visuals and sound design have a certain charm about them and I think they work together really well creating a little bit of fun along the way. At the end of the day Bounce Rescue! unfortunately falls into a genre that’s severely saturated and because it doesn’t offer anything different from what you’ve already seen your highly unlikely to get excited about this game. Also when you take into account the problems the game suffers with Bounce Rescue! unfortunately falls further behind the other game’s in the genre and because of this I can’t really give the game a recommendation even though it can be quite fun when played with friends.
