There’s something here for everyone, as it feels like almost three separate games based on what you prefer to play. Sledgehammer Games has become a great storyteller with their (mostly) exciting campaign, solid multiplayer that keeps you hooked as you level up and earn Supply Drops, and a Nazi Zombie mode that’s sure to have you and your friends scratching your heads trying to solve its mysteries. They could have played it safe, but they weren’t happy with the status quo, which is where Headquarters and War spawned from, a great multiplayer addition to the series, and one that I hope stays going forward. It’s time to get the squad back together and get back into some intense World War II action as Call of Duty is indeed back and this year’s entry is pretty much a ‘must play’ for fans of the series, and fans of video games alike.

The campaign production values are amazing as always, with excellent acting and motion capture, huge set pieces, and a fair bit of variety. And of course, WWII shows serious dedication to multiplayer with the new headquarters social hub, the excellent new war mode, and a gritty co-op Zombies mode. Whether you're interested in campaign or multiplayer, Call of Duty: WWII is the complete package and a must-play first-person shooter this holiday season.

A welcome return to the origins for Call of Duty, with an immersive campaign and a classic multiplayer. The new Zombi mode is the one that feels more improved and a step forward, while multiplayer could have used a bit more of innovation, but it's still highly enjoyable.

Call of Duty WWII isn’t a perfect game, but it is a solid one. What we really miss is a graphical upgrade on its engine and a campaign mode with more personality. Feels good to be back at World War II with the great gameplay that the game offers, its multiplayer and the always fun zombie mode.

Call of Duty: WWII is a game that was much requested by fans and ultimately hits most of its targets. The story mode's focus on in-the-trenches brotherhood falls short of its mark due to introducing a dozen or so characters and only getting a few of them to stand out. However, if you're coming back to the series annually you're probably in it for its other two modes, multiplayer and zombies. In both instances, they innovate in fun ways. At times, it does feel like the whole package benefits from the simple timeline swap. If you gave up on the franchise's small maps and repetitive story structure, WWII doesn't do enough to make you want to come back. It remains true to itself, for better or worse. For anyone who still plays the games with glee every November, Call of Duty: WWII is a better-late-than-never return to the series' roots.

Call of Duty: WWII is most definitely a more than decent entry to the franchise. The return of boots-on-the-ground gameplay is certainly welcomed and it’s good to see Sledgehammer Games take a little risk and try out some new features.

This feels like the most wheel-spinning, by-the-numbers Call of Duty they've made thus far.

The last few years the multiplayer has just been rubbish. This one feels fresh but familiar. Boots on the ground! No more getting shot in the back by some idiot jetpacking over you before you even realise there is someone there.

The single player campaign is amazing. Something about doing the beach landings at Normandy sends a chill down my spine every time. Nazi Zombies is decent, but I have to admit that I still miss Extinction.

Very impressive visually, and the controls and gameplay just feel nice and smooth. Welcome back COD!

Now-a-days if I buy a shooter it's mostly for the Campaign play.

I would say this is the best COD campaign to date, but unfortunately that's a rather low bar set by a series who clearly focuses on the multiplayer aspect. I had fun with the story which took me around 9 hours to play through on regular difficulty. I'm a little surprised to see that such a huge franchise not only fails to push the envelope on graphics/emersion/sound, but doesn't even seem to meet the expectations set by games like Battlefield 1 and Ghost Recon Wild Lands. Granted BF1 may have been ahead of it's time, but it's also a year old, so my biggest gripe with WW2 is the unmistakably inferior gameplay. Most notably, the first person movement, it still glides along way too fast and sporadic very unlike true POV movement should be. Cut scenes where normally a game gets to flex it's graphic muscles, still lack. There is definite mismatching of mouth/words, choppy movement and "game" feel. But it's a review and I'm mostly pointing out the flaws, I did enjoy it and don't regret $60 purchase.

Multiplayer- Come one guys, there must be SOMETHING you can do to fix this. Unless you are a habitual COD or other FPS multiplayer gamer, the multiplayer is simply no fun, and actually quite irritating. I don't blame the kids who are scoring 30-2 in team deathmatch, I DO blame the creators for not correcting the problem. There are definitely ways to create lobby's either manual or auto where players can play with similar K:D ranges as themselves. I don't want an "I suck" lobby, I don't mind scoring low, I just want to play and have some fun after $60 and only a 9 hour campaign. I've logged about 3 hours of online play at the time of this review, and in team deathmatch/domination play I'm averaging about a 5:20. Simply no fun and pisses off the rest of the team. If I could rate the story and multiplayer separate I'd say 7 and 1. Even the war mode, which is nice they don't show my huge amount of deaths, the gameplay isn't much more fun since I'm still being shot in the face every 6 steps.
I'm not sure what was different, but while BF1's campaign was a better single player experience, they also seemed to write a multiplayer experience that was accommodating for the "Dad" players like me. I think after a few days I was close to a 1:2 average and 1:1 on good days, not a selfish goal for online play. It probably has to do with the COD players adapting to really what is only new maps/guns per release, and right back to praying on guys like me haha.

Thanks for reading, please check out my profile for other "Dad" reviews.

I gave my copy to my 10 year old cousin and he absolutely hates it too.
TL;DR - bought once, already had two owners, both owners wanted it out of the house asap.

    CAMPAIGN.

The campaign is all over the place. My favorite mission in this "campaign" is the first mission. if the first mission is the only good mission, thats when you have just **** up big time. I legit forgot the ending, but i dont need to know the ending to know what its gonna be. Its gonna end all like your the best and no one else could have done what you did. the "campaign" feels more like im watching a on rails movie then a actual game. The amount of explosions in the "campaign" felt like i was watching a battle unfold in fallout 4 if they all had fat mans.

    ZOMBIES.

Zombies is actually really underrated. I mean, i know it do'sent really have anything special about it but if you think about it, neither did nacth dier untoten from WAW, same with verrtuck, shi no numa, and kino der toten. people always say those are the best maps ever, but they only say that because its treyarch. Like the "campaign" theirs a lot of explosions . Im actually okay with it because its made up so i dont give a **** now lets go into the biggest part of the game yet, the reason you bought this ****ing game.

    MULTI--wait i gotta wait for a update? k.

    MULTIPLAYER.

Multiplayer is really unbalanced. i mean all of these "nerf's" and "buffs" really do nothing. so what if they nerfed the STG or the FG42, those guns are still really overpowered. the maps are all the same in this game, left middle right. The new DLC guns are trash, the gewher 43 is like a m1a1 carbine, the sten is like a **** version of the grease gun, the GPMG is worse then pre-buffed Bren, the Ice Pick needs a little more range, the trench knifve is ok. my favriote map is opetation neptune. and thats it. TA TA, ****
