You can really get to 40 from 34 in one solid sit down if you know what your doing. I would be disappointed with that but light is the new standard, once you hit 40 your light should be somewhere around 180-190, max is I think around 280. Well worth diving back into destiny if you stopped. Expand

When I first picked up the original game I loved it and had a great time with it, but found it a bit on the short side, and I wasn't particularly happy when it was taking forever to level my character once I began dealing with light and armor. Thankfully this has been fixed in Taken King! Such a great deal getting original copy of Destiny (so my Son and I can play together), plus the expansions I hadn't bought yet. Love the new enemies and all of the added content. Thanks Bungie for helping me believe in you again! Expand

Alright so Destiny:Taken King Day one Edition
    Pro's:
Actual stuff is fixed like that **** RNG loot
    THORN IS NERFED!(Thank god)
The story is actually pretty cool
    New weapon designs!
    New Exotics!
    New Armor types!
**** New Everything! even new patterns for enemies!
The **** light level system is gone(HALLELUJAH!)
    Ghost shells!
The level cap is much bigger!
It's easier(But still **** hard in a few missions...even for people with decked out gear)
The DLC level requirements are lowered for new players who want to get caught up
    Con's:
Bounty missions take WAY too long to refresh...Still.
Missions are still returning to old locations you visited...ughh
Those stupid missions where you have to survive waves of enemies are BACK!
One mission in the campaign actually sucks quite a bit(Wait until you find it...it involves finding keys to doors)
I feel like I bounce too much off of platforms
    **** Wave surviving missions

    8/10. Needs less Wave Missions.

Criticized for its repetition and lack of narrative, it was considered to be a disappointment. But after a stream of constant updates, the game greatly improved. With the release of The Taken King a year later, it finally began to fulfill its promise. This edition includes the main game and three expansions. It's a good collection although it does not include 2016's The Rise of Iron.

A combination of Halo, World of Warcraft and Mass Effect, this first-person shooter can be addictive. Although it does not surpass Halo, it's a solid effort that rewards players with plenty of loot. While the narrative is weak (pre -Taken King), the gameplay and presentation are quite superb. The campaign features a "Choose Your Own Path" structure, while competitive matches play out like a sci-fi Call of Duty. Ultimately, it is the excellent Strike and Raid missions that distinguish Destiny from other similar shooters.

Taken as a whole package, the game is good, but not great. There is plenty of room for improvement mainly due to the lack of a narrative. The sequel needs to include a real story with fleshed out characters to involve the player. Without a proper story mode, this installment feels like it is missing a major component. Nevertheless, it is a stellar FPS that fans of Bungie and action-based RPGs should enjoy. Despite its faults, I'd rank the Legendary Edition with an 8.3 out of 10.

I am by far not a Destiny expert and it shows in the crucible. The slight changes they made, makes the interface of viewing your Guardian makes it easy. You can also cash in bounties while playing, instead of going back to the tower. They have new enemies to face to make it more challenging.

The few enhancements does make me want to spend more time in playing. The leveling system is much better. You level your character up and it doesn't depend on how much light is in your armor. Light still does play but not as much. My biggest complaint would be that you do level up to fast. In just a little bit of time of playing this, I leveled up from level 26 to level 38.

Still fun game and good to go back to and play.

Getting above light level 300 is a pain without raiding. Even when you do get into the raid, nothing drops. Completed multiple times and only got boots. Nightfalls are worthless as they don’t drop anything and the new strikes got played out too quick. Removing elemental damage from primaries was an awful decision, makes elements in the games useless. It handles well, it looks great, and feels great. There are so many beautiful graphical flares to distract you until you realize how hard it is to aim with so many flashes and bursts on the screen. In all, it's like a beautiful cake, it's great when you're consuming a single slice, but gets gross when you try to eat any more.

The missions are uninspired, with virtually every single mission comprising a series of "press X button to activate the computer, defend area while computer works, move to the next computer." It's an endless stream of linear room-defenses. I can't help but compare it to Mass Effect where the missions felt unique and challenging, with great voice-acting and plot in every sequence. All of that is missing from Destiny. Peter Dinklage is the only voice you hear, and there's only so much dynamism he can add to the game.

The MMO elements leave you scratching your head, since there's not really all that much of a shared experience beyond your own 1-3 man fireteam. And since you're instancing into any PvP and most co-op worlds, it's not clear why Destiny needed to be an MMORPG rather than just a MORPG.

Usually when a game has only three classes, you expect them to play very differently, but in Destiny the classes are almost indistinguishable in gameplay. A different grenade type, a slightly different jump style, and a different flashy (but ultimately indifferent) heroic ability, make very little difference to how you execute in combat. I initially picked the hunter class, which is cast as a loner/sniper type of character, but as with so many MMORPGs, long-range combat just doesn't seem to work and most engagements take place at close range. I also tried the Warlock (mage) class, and that felt almost exactly the same. The weaponry is shared across all classes as far as I can tell, and your abilities make only superficial differences. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's just one coat of paint away from Halo.

Destiny feels like it really yearns to be written into a great sci-fi novel or movie script. It feels almost tailor made for exceptional machinima work. I've played maybe 6 hours, I keep thinking about playing more, but every time I sit down in front of my tv, I'd rather just watch Netflix.
