At least in the time that I’ve spent with it, I’ve not noticed any significant issues with sound, graphics and so on. It plays, looks, and sounds just like a remember it, with a new coat of paint tossed on top to make the overall look a little more appealing. There’s not a lot else to say about Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, other than you should absolutely pick this up when you have a chance, it’s easily the best version of the game available.

It's easy to see why Final Fantasy VIII is considered one of the series' most divisive entries, but its story and gameplay systems remain unique 20 years after its original release. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered has its flaws -- the draw system is still a total pain in the arse -- but there's a magic and atmosphere to Squall's often mental adventure that's incredibly endearing. This is a PlayStation classic given a new lease of life, and it's still way more interesting than the majority of Japanese RPGs hitting our consoles today.

For the most part, the story and gameplay has held up over time and Squall’s adventure is better than most give it credit for being.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is a prime example of how to do a remaster well. Improved graphics modernize the experience, and modifiers help alleviate the grind issues. That said, I’ve always felt FFVIII needed real gameplay changes. It won’t get that in a remaster, and as such, those who didn’t like the game before won’t like it now. If what you disliked in the original was the grind, put your eyes on this remaster. And if you loved FFVIII in the past or are a curious newcomer, this is the best version of the game by far.

Este es el primer FF que jugué en PsOne un juego que quizás no es de mis favoritos de la saga FF por que la temática de la historia no es mi fuerte y por unas cuestiones técnicas que expondré más abajo.
La construcción de personajes en este juego no fue la correcta, si bien Squall tiene mucho protagonismo no se indaga demasiado en su personalidad y su pasado, solo vivimos su presente al igual que todos los personajes, y esto podría ser como excusa por que ninguno recuerda nada de su pasado por el uso de los Guardianes de la Fuerza pero ni al final lo logran y cuando se explica algo es a cuentagotas y de manera apresurada.

La música como siempre está a la altura.
La remasterización de los personajes esta muy bien lograda.

El sistema de enlazar magias y todo eso esta muy bien pero mal ejecutado, te puedes hacer inmortal y te pones a extraer magias, digamos que el juego esta desequilibrado o mejor dicho roto por que farmear experiencia te convierte en un dios del combate.
Escenarios pixelados, este remaster no hizo bien su trabajo con los entornos que no han sido retocados nada.
La historia a nivel argumental es algo flojo con todo el tema de las brujas a nivel global de toda la saga es quizás de las que menos guarda cariño sus fans pero para gustos colores.
Guardo cierto cariño al juego por ser quien me abrió las puertas al 9 y luego al 7 y 6 que son mis favoritos pero es evidente que el Final Fantasy 8 tomó algunas decisiones innovadoras pero mejorables.
Final Fantasy 8 is a game only fans of the Final Fantasy series can appreciate. It’s a wild story featuring a group of friends who are journeying to stop a time warping sorceress. The storyline isn’t cohesively presented like the better games of the series like 10,9, and 7 buit sees te tropes Of the series cranked up to 11. It’s the kind of game that would turn off a Final Fantasy newcomer since it’s storyline is baffling and confusing and the gameplay isn’t as cohesive as the better games.
FF8 was always going to be in the shadow of the seminal FF7, and it seems the developers were well aware of this, as they either got carried away with the success or just thought “screw it, this will do” and let the series take a strategic nosedive to allow FF9 the success it found.
Usually the graphics are the area of my least interest, however as a remaster I am very curious. Some textures and models definitely benefit from this. However I found these massively let down by the pre-rendered backgrounds, the same ones that used to perform so well but now look silly when contrasted with the characters walking around in them. It comes across as more of a port with a slight polish, which is what most remasters end up being anyway. The graphics are a nice air of nostalgia but don’t really hold up.
For a Final Fantasy, the story didn’t compel me very much. Granted, I lasted about 10 hours into this game, but that’s plenty of time for a story to be communicated with some purpose and with some likeable characters. I eventually patched together that a sorceress had captured a leader, sparking an elaborate rescue mission, but by this point the gameplay was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
FF8’s gameplay is likely its most divisive element, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a hodge=podge of real-time vs turn-based mechanics. The result of this is the worst of both worlds. It’s both a maddening wait for a character’s turn but also a blink of an eye expected of you to have enacted your choices, as the AI opponents have no such cognitive demands in having to consider options. What I ended up discovering was that I could use GFs endlessly for larger damage to essentially cheese battles, whilst normal attacks dealt paltry double-figure damage. Thank God for the option of speeding up gameplay, probably the best element added in this remaster.
Another huge offender for me was simply the lack of direction in the game. I mean this literally, as most times the game will tell you your destination, but not how to get there, and sometimes it won’t even tell you that much. Many times early in the game I serendipitously wandered to the right location, and the unexplained mini-map doesn’t do much to ameliorate this.
Let’s cover the one thing I’ve seen in many reviews – the junction system. What a convoluted mess this is. I don’t understand the logic behind it, but it seems to take a PhD to comprehend and implement. There are far too many screens and far too many options that are fiddly rather than creative.
It seems that they knew FF8 was going to be a hard sell so they got creative, but this is a disaster to me. I was wondering why I had heard so many good things about 7, 9 but not 8. Now I know why. Avoid this.
Ужасный ремастер. Это даже скорее порт.
1. Просадки ФПС из-за того что грузит только один поток. Причем что там может так жрать, непонятно.
2. Задники перерисовали не везде и много осталось оригинальных с ПС1. На широкоформатном мониторе выглядит как пипец.
3. Текстурки тоже сменили далеко не везде. Я бы даже сказал мало где сменили. Так что ситуации, когда ваши "причесанные" герои общаются с гребенчатым и угловатым нечто, вполне обыденны. Очень вырвиглазный контраст.
