Arcade racing in a stunning world that is so enjoyable and addictive that topping it seems impossible. [Issue#246]

Forza Horizon 2 improves almost everything from the original chapter, serving as a real sequel able to take the series in new directions. The unexpected vocation of off-road proves to be a winning card, although some might not appreciate the lack of realism.

The open world of southern Europe, rain or shine, not only provides a great backdrop, but it is an awesome automotive playground too.

An amazing example of online and offline racing built around an engaging, satisfying handling model with the looks to match. Very, very nearly worth buying an Xbox One for alone.

It sets a fun vibe without coming off as silly or childish. The racing is serious business, but there are plenty of ways to play that aren't so ardently competitive.
  6. The level of choice when it comes to Horizon’s 2‘s core circuits is surprising and ensures there’s something for everyone, regardless of your taste in cars.

The most disappointing thing about Forza Horizon 2 is how little it’s improved since the first Horizon. There is still no meaningful career progression or economy. The career is quite literally running a circle around six chunks of Europe, over and over and over again, in the pursuit of colored bracelets with, as far as I can tell, no significance. Canned bucket list challenges and barn scavenger hunts supposedly break up the action if you feel like heading off in that direction.

It's extremely fun to explore the area, and the option to add realistic damage or keep arcade damage on your car makes it much better. The developers obviously put a lot of time and effort into this game. I still haven't gotten Forza Horizon 3, but I feel as if I don't have to because of what this game has to offer. The game crashes every once in a while for me, but that may be a hardware issue with my XBOX. Expand

Graphics put an end to the (can Xbox one handle next gen?) debate to rest. Forza Horizon 2 has many things that you can do. Sexy vistas with amazing EDM/ Progressive house songs playing from your radio as you drive and own the road of the open country side of Italy. Gameplay is the most important thing about a video game....(Something Sony gamers have not show knowledge of lately) . Forza Horizon 2 gameplay is so powerful. My childhood in a game...
This game marked my life in Xbox 360, it has some bugs like 999,999,999 cr, but you can avoid it. But it is really nice.

    PROS
    1. Graphics are top notch, greatly improved over the first game.
    2. The atmosphere feels more alive than the first game with the addition of weather effects, which look stunning, and more lively crowds that are actually walking around towns this time (in the first game they were only found at horizon event areas), albeit behind indestructible barricades so that you can't hit them.
    3. Good selection of cars to chose from. I think it's something like 200+ not including dlc.
    4. Custom paint job creator. Create your own or download someone else's, some people have come up with some amazing paint jobs.
    5. There is a lot to do. There are 168 championships and each championship has 4 races to complete plus 30 bucket list challenges(drive a specific vehicle in the game to achieve a specific goal such as meet a target speed limit at a specific speed trap), 10 barnyard finds(search for a rare old vehicle), 5 showcase events(race against a unique vehicle, a train for example), and bonus signs to find and smash(these offer xp bonuses and fast travel discounts). You also have the ability to challenge any roaming NPC/drivatar you find to a race which will be randomly generated by the game.
    6. The map is a very good size and the roads are not as enclosed as the first game, meaning you can go off road and explore the environment.
    7. The soundtrack is excellent and has more variety than the first game.
    8. No dumb intrusive story, just racing.
    9. Diving mechanics are solid and fun. Anyone familiar with the first horizon game will find driving in this game much the same.
    10. More rewarding then the first game. Every time you level up you get to either spin a wheel for a random prize(credits or cars) or you earn a skill point to spend on perks. Unlocking perks will help you earn credits and xp faster.

    CONS
    1. Drivatars can be very annoying/aggravating to deal with. I can understand bumping and blocking me in a race but it's annoying when it happens in free roam.
    2. This is just my opinion but I cannot stand the purely off road races, they frequently cross the lime from fun into frustration. I can deal with the fact you can't control your vehicle as much but I hate not being able to see where you are going and dirvatars being a bit too perfect on the off road courses. Plus there is the fact that a drivatar can miss a checkpoint and not have to turn around to go hit it but if you miss a checkpoint your pretty much f*****, better restart the race at that point because there is no way you are getting the lead back.

So that's it, everything about this game is mostly good. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

What's the point of an open world when you're stuck inside a car? Waste of effort into world building imo. They should stick with just track racers. On that note, the graphics were also disappointing, not much better than the 360 version. Sound design is also lacking compared to other racers, overall a very disappointing package. There are better racing alternatives out there on all platforms. Expand
