The thing that amazes me so much with the Forza series is that it manages to improve with each instalment, and Forza Motorsport 7 is no different. The first thing you will notice about the game is how beautiful it looks. Visually Forza Motorsport 7 has gone above and beyond and without a doubt it’s the best racing game I’ve ever seen. The amount of content in this game is astounding and will keep you invested for months. With over seven hundred cars to get to grips with you’re spoilt for choice, and the best thing is that the customisation is pretty much endless. There is also a huge amount of tracks for you to race these amazing cars on, and each track has a lot of detail and they all feel great. The racing and driving in the game delivers on all aspects and I love how they’ve made the game accessible to all gamers, whether you’re a newcomer or veteran you can enjoy this. The inclusion of loot boxes has had a mixed response, but for me I enjoyed the inclusion of them. Opening loot boxes can be fun and exciting and in my opinion it adds another layer of replay value to the game. My only gripe with the game is the amount of loading screens you have to battle through, and hopefully the loading times get reduced over time. At the end of the day Forza Motorsport 7 has managed to do everything right again, and for me it takes back its rightful place as top of all racing games. There is even more content in this instalment, and once again I will sink an astronomical amount of hours in, and the best thing is that I can’t see myself getting bored anytime soon. Fans of the Forza series will once again fall in love with what they offer, and for me this is the best racing game I’ve ever played and I appreciate all that the developers have done here. Expand

150 of the 700 cars are not purchasable with in game credits, of course these are some of the best cars.
You need to achieve a "collector tier" if you want to buy cars in that tier. Which you get by buying more cars. So you have to spend your credits on trash cars you don't want just to be ALLOWED to buy the cars you want.
Prize crates are another way too force you to dump credits on stuff you don't want. But since some cars are only in crates, have fun trying to avoid them.
The VIP package was blatant false advertising and a real spit in the face to consumers.
The game is buggy and runs like trash compared to Forza 7 and FH3.
    Day 1 DLC....
You don't get more credits for turning off assits which equals more grinding for those damn crates.
The AI is still pure garbage even on higher difficulties. They are only harder since they get an OBVIOUS power boost compared to your car, but they still drive like they are on average.

All in all, a game with potential but that got defecated on by greedy publishers. Just buy Forza 6 instead or some other racing game. Stay away from this

I have an XBox One S and this game (along with some others) has forced my decision to pre-order a new Xbox One X on release day. The graphics on the current Xbox are phenomenal and I am in the process of downloading the 100gb PC version. I have an i5 4.0ghz and a GTX970 and given that I can play FM6 Apex at 85fps on high settings I am looking forward to see what the PC version holds. My PC is somewhat ageing and the new X might persuade me not to bother upgrading it ever again! :D

Onto the game itself. The career mode is setup well and the biggest move forward for me is the ability to select race distance. You can go anywhere from standard 2-3 lap races up to a whopping 50 laps per race. I settled on the option just under that which is between 7-18 laps depending on the track. Most races last about 15-20 minutes at that setting.

I am racing on a Xbox One controller with no assists other than ABS on, simulation level damage with normal steering. I also use braking only lines. Traction control is off and I race with auto gears, rewind off and friction assist off. I play using the cockpit camera which I can safely say is the most comfortable I have ever felt in any racing game using this camera option. I have the AI drivers on Expert and I am starting to master this AI fairly comfortably as I close the Seeker Championship so I may up this to Pro. I allow for AI aggression also and it makes for some great experiences.

The way you unlock cars and level up has changed dramatically since FM6 and it is more interesting. The jury is out on the crates you buy using in-game money but so far it works fine. Some reviewers believe that crates will be sold for real money after launch but I can't see that happening. Apart from VIP DLC and the other standard Forza DLC I can't see this game becoming pay-to-win like this. This is the first Forza game I have shelled out £80 for the Ultimate Edition at pre-order stage and I'm glad I bought it.

I give this game a 10/10 which is rare from me but I can see that going forward I am going to sink a stupid amount of hours into it. If only they would integrate Groove Music into it like FH3 then I would be even happier. As it is, without it I will cancel my subscription and go back to paying for Spotify as my music subscription.

I knew what to expect, a polished up version of FM6 with a few extra tracks and a few of the most modern cars; apart from that, maybe a couple of sweet surprises as a 'cherry on top' to highlight the advances made in the in-between years and ready for the new Xbox system with 4K capability and technological enhancements. From the date of my pre-order right through to 4 day early launch, I was excited and overly- eager to jump in and race. That day arrived, I got to my Xbox much earlier in the day than I normally do and launched the game. After around 6 hours play , I had seen and experienced a huge disappointment; 30 minutes later, I had my refund, Forza Motorsport 7 was well below my expectations. Now, if this was a stand-alone title, a one-off or a new franchise project, then I could probably have accepted it as an 'OK' game, but it's not it's Forza Motorsport, by-words for a guaranteed world class, dependable and respected product, reliable and a leader in racing titles. I came across many bugs, very slow loading of races, we have splash dialogue help boxes that covers the UI, most of the races I did had rolling-starts, the pits are the pits, the dynamic weather is not so dynamic, I cant find weather settings in free play, other options missing also. There is little in the way of enhanced credit/xp for turning off assists, I have to spend hard grind credits on cars I don't want [ever] to qualify to buy cars I do want, there are cars I want that I might NEVER get a chance of owning. My car has stopped at random spots .. just stopped while the rest go driving on past; my game has closed down twice without notice while waiting for a race to load. I found the 'paint & design' workshop dark, hard to do the design work in that environment. Then the let-down of all let downs.. the much loved, highly rated gameplay mode 'RIVALS' does not exist as we know it and love it ... it was this discovery that finally did it for me, this is not FORZA Motorsport as I know it .. all through the series [and Horizon series] this is the feature that makes the game for me. All this after only around 6 hours play, enough was enough, give me back my money and I'll buy GT sport for my PS4. I say if this was a 'different game/franchise, I could rate as about 6 but this is Forza Motorsport and because of the pedigree I can only give a generous 3 [PURE NFS MAC] Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I first saw the preview of this game at the Microsoft Press Conference running in 4K UHD on Xbox One X, I had almost mixed feelings. I had most of the excitement that I get every year in the past 5/6 years when a new Forza game is announced though at the same time I was also a little sceptical about pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition. Maybe it was due to the fact that somehow Turn 10 manage to bring us a new successful Forza game year after year unlike other racing franchises like Gran Turismo. Its also because every year they have to improve over it predecessor which they only have just under two years to produce and then execute. Every year I have never been disappointed with the new games that come into this very consistent running franchise every year, though this year was when I began thinking to myself 'when will the next (first) disappointing entry be released?' Though I can happily assure you and myself that it is NOT this year and not with Forza Motorsport 7. I still ended up pre-ordering the ultimate edition not too long after the announcement and now I am so glad that I did it. This game is a blast for me and I still very so believe that this is an improvement over Forza Motorsport 6. I enjoyed Forza Motorsport 6 and definitely enjoyed it more than Forza Motorsport 5 but at the same time it still had some of its issues. That is why I would like to quickly get this topic out of the way first. Thankfully there were very little disappointments to this game for me though I think the biggest one (so far) is the fact that the Auction House introduced last year in Forza Horizon 3 isn't coming until a later date as is a couple of other things such as OneDrive music (another new addition to FH3). This delay really rubs me the wrong way. Even though it is kind of understandable in some aspects, I thoroughly enjoyed spending/gambling money on some cars in the Auction House as well as sell some of my own. I know that having this feature implemented into the Forza Motorsport series would be just as fun and would also make sense. Unfortunately I am going to have to wait until a couple of months/weeks until that will be happening here as I am unaware of the actual date when it will be launched. With that out of the way, lets finish this (what appears to be) slight harassment to this game and talk about the awesome things. When I found out that there would be over 700 cars featured I got really excited though at the same time thought 'Geez I hope I am not going to be wasting too much of my time just to decide on one car'. Thankfully this new feature which allows you to rank up a certain tier to get access to buying several cars. I really like this feature as it requires you to work your way up to earn and buy the higher class cars you want and gives you another reason to play a lot of the campaign and even some free play races. The campaign in this game (similar to Forza Motorsport 6) features different championships that you will work your way up until you reach the final Drivers Cup championship. Throughout all this gameplay you will also encounter some unique showcase events. Some of these showcases are some of my favourites from Forza Motorsport 6 such as Car Bowling and some of them are new category of showcases such as one that requires you to race and catch up to slower and less powerful versions of the car you're in with them receiving a headstart. I have only just gotten about a third into the campaign, but what I have experienced so far in it is so awesome and definitely has more to offer and more reasons to finish it over FM6's campaign. But the gameplay doesn't stop there. The free play option was something I never really touched in FM6 unless I was test driving a new car (mostly from a new DLC), however this new version of free play allows more options. Other than just your own version of a race on any track/circuit, you can choose what type of race/gamemode you wish to play. These can include Drifting, Drag and Endurance racing as he race times can now be set up to 4 hours. The Endurance Showcases in Forza Motorsport 6 was a really cool feature to have even though most of them would give you at least a mild case of sweaty palms at the end. I was disappointed how these were the only ones available and you couldn't really make a custom one. The best thing about all of this is that not only are all these options in Free Play, but also in Multiplayer making both of these gameplays very versatile whenever you play or join. I could go on all day explaining how much I love this game, but maybe I need to play a bit (and this review is dragging to the limit). Though in conclusion, Forza Motorsport 7 is yet another awesome entry into this exceptionally consistent franchise and this is not an exception to that. I am yet again very impressed with this and the new features including all of the new aspects of all the racing options; campaign, free play and multiplayer giving you more reasons to play. Expand

The VIP pass was a scam. Microsoft changed the description after the Ultimate edition was released. - No class races in Career ( Division races only - Customizing your cars makes no sense, you can enjoy your 1000 hp Honda in Free play only)
    - Launch bugs (F....ng lot of them including Graphics, gameplay, etc..)
    - AI Sucks!!!!!!!!! (in the beginning, they just crash into each other, no improvement from previous titles, the first two drivers get far ahead really fast, also, increasing their skill only gives feeling they get a little boost, they brake early, brake on places where they shouldn't be, and they don't really give a **** if you are in their way, they just ram into you)
    - Loading times are so long I can cook dinner while I wait
    - Splitscreen still Basic (No cockpit view, no AI, no rain tracks) Maybe it's because of console limitations, however, PC players, don't even think about split-screen.
    - Loot crates (prizes repeat which can really piss you off as some cars are only available through these).
    - You cannot buy all cars at will
    - VIP is pointless (forget about 2x credits)
    - First, you have to quit race, only then you are able to restart
    - No Affinity
    - No Rewards for turning assists off
    - Short races have only 2-3 laps, then it is much more, I am not sure how many exactly, but there is nothing in between
    - No fun at all
    - Worse thing is, I don even think I have all the negatives here
    - Music is not really fitting

    Verdict:
The Fall of Forza - How Forza lost its passion for cars.
Heartwarming feeling, when you were tuning your car in the beautiful sunny hub surrounded by some chilled electro tunes and playing with all the settings just so you can take it on the track and earn points, and have this awesome feeling that you are a really good "mechanic" and that you made it possible to win just by tweaking some settings, that awesome feeling is now gone. You just look at your car in a dark garage, you can tune, but you cant use it in the career nor multiplayer, free play only. It's so sad that we are experiencing this as auto enthusiasts. It's like these cars lost their soul and you cant give them yours...
Basically, they took away all the fun stuff, I am going back at least to Forza 6, hope they fix this **** then I will maybe get back to it, what a shame, so much potential got wasted on stupid new ideas which no one asked for. They were supposed to add features, not remove the only fun features this game had.

Limited use items. Loot crates to get a car. No thank you. I feel like my best friend just died. Thanks whoever was behind this greedy decision. I just lost my last favorite racing game. Expand

Assasin's creed/call of duty of racing games strikes again, this is basically a Forza 6 DLC now with a huge amount of cars, which is dumb people barely use 20 cars while playing simulators, its more of the same perhaps now dumbed down even more for casuals and xbot to like it.

Weather and time of day are partial and nothing on the level of what has been done in the past by other franchises. Micro-transactions are aggressive and game-play is drifting always further away from its sim-like pretensions. The visuals have always looked synthetic to me, and I can't say that this is doing much to improve my past impressions in this department - Cars and track are ok, but don't hold well to scrutiny. I wouldn't recommend this game if you own the previous ones - I would instead wait for the studio to take steps to show us some true generational improvements over its older entries. Expand

All options to modify the race to your taste (night, rain, storm, etc) are removed and put behind gambling box.
What's next? remove break from your full price racing game and put it in shop? Yeah, who need break in game where you win by going forward; so break isn't critical to the game and should been removed and put in shop to give player "option" to get it or not.

This game contains loot crates that will be (post-launch) made available for real money. They've typically hidden the real money system so that reviewers don't point out this BS. Why do this? Why ruin a perfectly acceptable game with these BS micro-transactions? Enjoy your zero.

Yep, been a staple of the Forza franchise since say, Forza Motorsport 2, and suddenly due to these Homologation rules they have introduced, the game is very bare bones for multiplayer fans.

I cannot recommend it at all if that is your bread and butter, I know it was for me, 100's of hours in every title, within 2 hours of this game I knew I was in for a disappointing ride.

Circuits such as Maple Valley, Suzuka and Mugelo Internationale return. Configurable dynamic weather and time passed (this can be seen in long endurance races you start in the late evening and end at night. You start with cloudy skies and end up with torrential rains and lightning). Many details that occur during the race (falling leaves, passing bird stops, swirls of dust and wind). Forzavista in 4K. Many events to dispute both championships, exhibits and stories of Motorsport. Includes Race Regulation for multiplayer races, leagues, standings and tournaments. Customization of costumes for the pilot. Includes Master and Master Elite events that are customizable with favorite cars. Instead of the prize roulette they allow you to choose from one of three prizes when you level up (a suit, a car or credits). The community managed to remove the Loot Boxes from the game.

    The bad:
If you don't like Motor Sports you won't like it. They removed the integration of Rivals with the main races. Charge times are noted on Xbox One Fat and Xbox One S. The economy of the game was broken after removing the Loot Box.

    The Meh!:
Many haters put Forza Motorsport and its “flavor” Horizon in the same bag, even though they are very different. Personally I did not like the Forza Drivers Club accommodation since there are Elite achievements that at the beginning do not know how to get out, you have to complete the Forza Deiver Cup to access the Elite events (you think you already finished but there are actually more events to be played) . You only have two achievements to get online. 500 G of achievements are relatively easy

The truth is that yes, Forza 7 is an evolution of Forza 6. But Forza 6 was virtually faultless. Forza 7 is bigger, the single-player mode is more engaging to play, and the dynamic weather alone adds an entirely new dimension to the gameplay. It has hundreds of more cars than two years ago. Hundreds.

Nothing that makes Forza great has been left out. This is still the most complete racing game on Xbox. It's got something for all abilities, enough content to keep you going for a long old time and it's so stunning to look at, it massages your eyeballs every time you play.

At least you get to choose scenarios more in depth if you choose to race in the rain, but, again, not all tracks have the rain option, some don't even have night options. Overall, I would say the graphics are worth it on the Xbox One, so don't waste a couple thousand dollars on a brand new 4K TV and the Xbox One X. I enjoy the feeling of your car, and the danger is really there, as Turn 10 said. The wipers shake at high speeds, and so do the mirrors, but should they really shake on a 1932 Ford? You can see the gearshift move in certain cars (sometimes you won't be able to see it at all), and paddle shifters too, although the driver doesn't seem to touch them most of the time. Graphics and physics are improved, but from what the producers said, they should be better. The menu is too dark in my opinion, the soundtrack isn't great, and Forzavista isn't as good as it used to be. In my opinion, if you are waiting to use on the Xbox One X, don't waste your money. It's already great on whatever Xbox One you have. Again, this game deserves a solid 10, but the developers ruined it because the weather isn't dynamic, or it's only dynamic in Xbox One X. Producers need to stop improving features on newer consoles just to get you to spend money. Career mode is OK, but the collector tiers and the loot boxes are annoying. This game is very well made, but the producers decided to be greedy, as always, and get you to spend money. Expand

    As pistas

The most I can give the game is a seven. The driving itself is a perfect ten, but the game suffers from bugs, unavailable features/game modes, and even exploits.

The best and biggest change from older Forzas to this is the homologation, which restricts you to car division, not just limited upgrades. For what I looked to do in the game, I'm in love with it, but I'm not gonna pretend like it's perfect:

Bugs include occasional game crashes throughout, sound disappearing in multiplayer and split screen, and gamertags refusing to show up over cars.

Auction house, rivals, leagues, Forzathon, and OneDrive/Groove music support is still absent three weeks after launch.

Test driving is also a bit of a hurdle because this would require you to open up Free Play and disable Drivatars, and then set the car division to "Any" to bypass the homologation requirement (if you want to test drive stock). This Free Play can even be used as an off-brand Rivals since you still have leaderboards, and rivals is still (for whatever reason) not available.

Hoppers are still limited. They are continuously adding division hoppers (as well as class hoppers), but it's limited to only a couple of divisions and one class. I'm waiting for NASCAR hoppers!

Not all cars sound accurate. This cannot be demonstrated or explained through text.

Friction Assist Exploit was recently made public, and the exploit involves using the Friction Assist aid for more grip on and off the course. What is intended, however, is the lap is dirty (invalid) by DEFAULT. The exploit is intended to trick the game and bypass that algorithm into thinking it's disabled, so even with Friction Assist enabled, it is still counted as a clean (valid) lap, and this is ILLEGAL and UNINTENDED.

Also, though there are 700 cars at launch, a MASSIVE chunk of them are not available for outright purchase using in-game credits. Most of them are stashed away within the crates that can be purchased with in-game credits. I understand the concept, and lucky me, every car I care about are available without having to buy crates, but the overwhelming amount of them that are would mean that a lot of people are stuck having to grind for credits and crates for even just a CHANCE to get that one particular car they have been looking for.

The graphics are great but those who do not own a 4k TV cannot experience what the true graphical capacity. The physics in these game are incredible, you can almost feel how the aerodynamics affect each car.

The menus can be a bit confusing and a little hard to get used to but it after a few playthroughs it becomes quite intutive. Also the news classes system can restrict you from driving a uber-upgraded Ford Escort in a super car competition but it makes for a more leveled playfield. - But there are also the open classes competitions where you can drive whatever your heart desires.

The bad: loot crates. I don't mind them, tho. They're reasonably priced - at least the cheap ones -, and usually pay for themselves in one race, two at the most. I don't like how some cars are locked behind loot crates or whatever.

Physics, graphics are worse than in Forza 6. Monetization as always ruins everything. Unstable FPS, wheel force feedback is weak and boring (FM6 had much better). Crap.

Not only is this a reskin of forza 6, but it removes certain features that made forza enjoyable. Combine this with their **** way of handling dlc and the addition of loot boxes, this is probably the worst forza entry to date. I recommend waiting for horizon 4.

I found that the game is very well done and is beautiful! The controls are nice as well. The cars do feel a little heavy at first but once you get in to the game and start upgrading your car with better suspension. brakes and a weight reduction they drive smooth.

The new campaign is nice and feels a little more streamlined then past Forza games. The selection of tracks are great and with the number of cars in the game anyone can build a garage full of cars that they are proud to own. I felt like they improved upon the content that was offered in previous versions of the game.

One thing that I found when I played Forza 7 is all of the reviews that are giving this game a 0 for Micro transactions are not true. I now have 30 hours + into the game so far and I have not even come across anyplace where I can spend real money in the game. There are loot boxes, however the only way these can be obtained is to use in game credits that you earn from racing.

All and all I have been having a blast with this game and I hope that others take the initiative to at least rent the game and let it speak for itself like it did for me. I just do not want to see someone miss out on a game that is very well done because of questionable reviews.

Sure, there are some issues here and there which are minor, but the game still works. I was hoping to see a moving pit crew as Turn 10 mentioned, but I'm a little disappointed that there's nothing.
The track list is nothing that new compared to previous games in the series, but there as a couple of tracks that are returning including Maple Valley. The different variations of each track is pleasing, but it would be nice to have a few more. In terms of cars, it's like a "copy and paste" including cars featured in Horizon 3 that are new to the Motorsport series, which I'm not overly fussed about. What is a little upsetting for me and a lot of players is the absence of Toyota's production cars (yes, you did read that right). Though you can't blame Turn 10 for this as from what I've read and heard, the Supra, Celica and many more aren't featured in any other new racing games, meaning Toyota is at fault here. Though I'd still be happy to jump back onto Horizon 3 and drive any of them.
One of the issues I have is the numerous barriers on the tracks. Sure, they're there to stop players corner cutting, but they are quite annoying. Let's say you're in an online race and you get pushed wide mid-race into a tire wall. That's essentially race over. Some people may see this as an advantage over others, which is unfair if you understand where I'm going with that. It kinda takes away that authenticity of a track if you are a clean racer. If there weren't any tyre walls spread across the track, then at least there should be a penalty system like Gran Turismo has, where the penalty lasts for how big of an advantage you would get over everyone else.
One of the main issues I have seen is the Prize Crates. If you don't want to buy one for mods or driver gear, just don't buy any! I'm not overly fussed about earning more credits or XP for completing a challenge throughout the race. Like me, if you're just in it for the racing and customisation, just ignore the Prize Crates. Speaking of customisation, it's just the same as Horizon 3; returning body parts and bodykits - a first for Motorsport.
Overall, Forza Motorsport 7 is worth the money if you aren't that bothered about the minor issues and Prize Crates.

Homologation takes the proven classes(E through X) and further divides them into stupid arbitrary categories. Some cars will be homologated to 635, others to 650, and others to 680 etc, instead of just limiting them all to A class. This ruins everything from the career races to the online leaderboards.

I have to say that I find all of this impotent nerd rage about loot boxes sort of puzzling. Yes there are loot boxes however they aren't vital to game progression, they're relatively cheap and purchased with in game money and whats more Forza goes out of it's way more than any racing game I've played to throw credits at you at every turn. I'll frequently take a car for a blast through Nurburgring Full Circuit on my own, no other cars and get maybe 30,000 just for having 10 minutes of fun. The mods are actually worth buying too, I felt, they give you a variety of different challenges and make each trip out onto the track a little different and engaging. The user score for this game is seriously skewed by people crying over something that is really not that big of a deal whatsoever. Car Collection Tiers are also a big point of contention but again I enjoyed that too, it encouraged me to buy and drive cars I probably would have skipped over entirely before whilst saving up for a Ferrari or something. More to the point people make it sound like cars are entirely unobtainable without hitting that collectors tier but every car in the game is available from the outset for free, you just can't earn credits driving them. I don't see the problem with that set up nor do I see the problem with the loot boxes.

Graphically Forza is stunning. The level of detail in the cars is incredible and likely the best yet in any racing game. The tracks are plentiful with multiple layouts each and not only do they look beautiful they are alive with things going on around you. As you bomb down a straight a TV camera might lower on a boom close to your car, a tv helicopter buzzes around over head dipping and rising to get the best shots, the crowds bustle and roar, you can hear music from the stands as you pass them it's all very well designed and some of the scenery around you is positively jaw dropping. It feels less like a static stage to race than an actual location and thats an impressive step forward.

The car list is exhaustive and varied. Their claim of the most Porsche, Ferrari and Lambourghinis in a racing game ever is well founded. I'm struggling to think of a Ferrari they don't feature, from the LaFerrari to the 1950s race cars they really do tick nearly every box. Also it was gratifying to see only perhaps 50 or 60 cars out of 700 being DLC. Forza has left a bad impression on me in the past by having far too many cars behind a paywall, that doesn't seem to be the case this year.

Forza 7s career mode is a little longwinded but it is punctuated with special events that are nearly always fun to take on and help break up the grind of races the career unfortunately becomes. As such Forza is a game I will pick up for a few hours and put down for a while because it gets a little overbearing. However basically everything you do in this game progresses you in some way which makes dipping in and out still feel rewarding. I can take a few cars for a spin or maybe run off a race series in career mode and by the time I'm finished I will have moved up a few levels, earned some decent credits and gotten a couple of rewards. It hands out its rewards well and keeps you playing to see what you get next.

That is a real strength of Forza 7 is its gameplay is engaging, challenging but not unfair and paired up with the sublime presentation it makes you want to do "just one more race" or try out "just one more track". The addition of Forzathon, special challenges that net you a rare car or driver outfit is also a brilliant idea and more than once I've logged on and not stopped until I've achieved them all. They release new challenges every 2 weeks or so and it's a great idea to give players a constantly refreshing challenge.

On the whole if you strip away all of the yelling about loot boxes and complaining about a game trying to take a fresh approach to car collecting you'll notice nobody is really attacking the game too much and for good reason; it's excellent. If you aren't the type to get riled up over such trivial things as lootboxes then what is actually here is a stunning looking, great to play racing game with an gigantic car list and tons of things to do with them.

I got this game a little after launch so maybe patching has had an effect but all this talk of bugs is bizarre because I've not ran into a single one and this whining about load times is equally bizarre because I've not really seen one much longer than 10 seconds or so to load the first race and then after that it's pretty quick and easy to flit between different tracks and locations.

Overall this is an excellent racing game with stunning graphics with a bizarrely low user score due to people with trustworthy usernames like "ForzaTrash" giving it 0/10 in a hilariously unobjective review.

The loot box hysteria is people jumping on the bandwagon. Loot boxes were never pushed and never game changing. You can't pay to win, you never could.

The VIP fiasco was poor from Microsoft, but when they realized how much they'd upset people they very quickly changed it and apologized. Since this time MS has been developing the game and have now decided to keep working on FM7 rather than FM8, because this is what the fans want. They're one of the few developers who seem to understand the value of their fanbase.

I personally had an issue with some of the cars being locked away behind events that you could only complete in certain circumstances. This isn't an RPG, stuff like that doesn't fly in this genre. I know it's hard for some developers to understand but some people actually have a job and commitments and end up losing out because of these terrible ideas. Thankfully MS has seen sense and unlocked all cars apart from a hand full of unicorn cars.

The game itself is smooth, pretty an relatively realistic. My favorite feature is the tuning/upgrade options. No other game offers anything like as good as this for modification IMO. The engine swaps are still a generic bland mess though, unless you have no imagination and think LS swaps are still cool. It would be nice to get some manufacturer specific swaps back in.

In summary I'd argue that this is the best casual Simcade game out there. When you just want to go out and blast a few laps or play with your friends it's ideal. It's realistic enough to be fun without being massively serious. It shouldn't be compared to the likes of Project Cars or Assetto Corsa because it's a different type of game.

I rate it 8 out of 10, losing 1 point for MS misjudging a few choices (VIP benefits, available cars) and 1 point because it's still not as good as FM4.

The game is by NO MEANS a TERRIBLE GAME. The game is simply TOO SIMILAR to FORZA 6 for me to justify spending $60 on a game that looks and feels like an update to the previous game. The graphics have been updated slightly most noticeable during inclement weather situations; other than that the graphics engine seems mostly the same as 6. The reason for the low score is the fact there are TOO MANY BARRIERS to getting the cars you want in career mode. In forza 7 they have implement a car collecting system which in short forces you to buy cars you dont want to earn collector score. Once you have bought enough cars that you will probably never use then you may unlock the next tier. The FRUSTRATING part is that if you want a specific car you will have to obtain a certain collectors tier by blowing all your money on the cars you dont want. OR YOU CAN PRAY to the mighty TURN 10 CONS and hope to get it in a loot crate.

Forza 7 is great in a lot of ways but it does let itself down in some crucial areas, for me anyway. The main differentiation for the series over other racing games for me has been its accessibility. You can jump in, drive what you want and have a blast. That has changed with this version, cars or locked behind tiers and upgrades are linked to a certain genre of car rather than performance index. What does this mean? Well it means that you firstly need to grind a bit to unlock the cars that you want and spend quite a lot of money on vehicles you probably would not buy. Some of the cars are locked behind levels, and "loot crates" or the specialist car seller which is another frustration.

With the new rules on upgrading cars it also means you can't race what you want in every race, you are locked into a certain type of car and level of upgrade - IE Street or Sport levels... again a big change for us veterans of the franchise.

The above detracts for me from an otherwise excellent game. The car mechanics are as always top notch, the sounds are even better than last years - particularly the weather and crash noises. The car models and overall graphics are excellent, with lighting and the weather / time of day modelling being the main selling point.

All in this is a great game however for series veterans it isn't what we are used to and therefore a little less great.

As a Tier 11 Forza Fan, I can't believe that I'm writing such a poor review about what has been my favorite racing franchise for a decade. However, despite this game's gorgeous graphics and fantastic physics it's absolute garbage when it comes to everything else.

Forza Motorsport 7 is what happens when a successful gaming franchise abandons their dedicated player base in the pursuit of profit. This game appears to have been designed from the ground up with the Freemium or F2P (Free-to-Play) Model as its top priority. Naturally, you won't get it for free. You'll still have to pay $60-100 for the opportunity to grind away for CR just to access the cars that you love, which are now locked behind tiered restrictions and Loot-Crate RNG. You won't get any consistent CR bonuses for No Assists or VIP either because that would interfere with the game's new forced economy. Now the only way to gain additional CR is by purchasing Mod Cards from Loot Crates using CR, which can help you gain CR. So instead of just enjoying the game and saving CR for the cars that you really want, you're forced to burn CR on Mods and cars that you likely don't even want just to unlock the tiers with the cars that you do want. Some of the best cars can only be obtained through RNG from expensive Loot Crates that burn more of your CR. This artificial scarcity and forced CR grinding for content that should be included in the base game becomes tedious quickly. Some people will say that Forza isn't a F2P Model because they don't use micro-transactions...yet. Turn 10 has already confirmed that they're on the way once the conditioning of the player base has finished. It's clear that this game wants to create artificial barriers to encourage people to take shortcuts by spending real cash in addition to what they spent on the game, which is exactly how F2P Models on mobile games work. Generally, they compensate by making the game cheap or free but Forza isn't about to do that.

While the Loot Crate F2P system works perfectly, there are still many launch issues that have yet to be ironed out, clearly indicating where Turn 10 and Microsoft's priorities lie. Wheel users are out of luck since the FFB is basically unusable. The AI is ridiculously bad and a huge step back from previous games, braking on straights for no reason and forcing me off the road as they hold their line no matter what.

Forza has officially abandoned the dedicated player base with this release, replacing Class-Based Career and Rivals events with Division-Based ones. Now instead of choosing from 100s cars and building one into a class based on PI, you can choose from 5-10s of cars and build them into a restrictive Division. This change will likely eviscerate the Forza community as players learn that the Class-Based tunes on their favorite cars can only be used in Free Play. What was Turn 10 thinking?!?

I think I'm finally done with Forza. There was a time when their franchise was so dominant that they could get away with this, but I think that time has passed. The competition in this genre has been getting better every year and they don't take away beloved community features or try to gouge you for a game that you've already paid for. Outside of the graphics and physics, Forza has been in decline throughout this generation from FM5 forward. This was just the final straw after many disappointing design choices and unresolved issues. I didn't turn my back on Forza and Turn 10. They turned their back on me.

One of the joys of previous forza titles was the option to customize and tune cars within class parameters. We cannot do that effectively anymore in career mode. The game forces opaque changes to your car to make it 'equal' to the competition. Why not just have a score limit and let players upgrade and tune within that score limit? Whoever thought of this new mechanic should be fired. NotOne of the joys of previous forza titles was the option to customize and tune cars within class parameters.

What was once a great racer is now a $60 loot box on wheels. What a shame. Graphics have been downgraded since 6. Music is typical fare. Gameplay has too many non sim mechanics. Gets more Arcady with every new release.

Containers, containers in racing game. Stupid system with donat. Temporary VIP status in Ultimate version?
This major issue. Developers try to updale my, after preoder Ultimate version.

Changed my review from a 5 to a 0. I originally thought this game was a 5 out of 10 due to horrendous AI, the terrible loot crate system, and the changes done to VIP. It is the worst Forza in recent memory. But now my game will no longer start hence why it is now a 0

Decent enough game but it is full of cancer. Watch your wallet these greedy shysters will try to nickle and dime you to death. No shame what so ever. I would say they should be ashamed but these lizards don't have that emotion in them.

Does some things right and completely screws up other things. I don't mind the new car class system but it hasn't fixed anything now there just even more leaderboard cars and instead of having 2 or 3 leaderboard cars that are close there is just 1 car in a division that is faster then the rest. Nothing will ever be completely balanced no matter what. The E-X system has been in the game forever and now that freedom is completely gone and removing it after 7 games is just stupid. Your car is locked to certain specs(Horsepower, Tire Width, Type of Tires, PI Index etc.), I honestly don't mind the system that much in singleplayer but (as of writing this) There are only 5 playlists online and all of them are locked to the new system and you completely lose the freedom the other games gave you, Also not to mention there are 700 cars in the game and only 81 are usable in online playlists. There are no drift lobbies, Drag Lobbies and they even took away the Playground games. It feels like they have just completely forgot multiplayer is a thing and only focused on singleplayer. The good side is that the driving feels pretty good and there is a lot of variety in singleplayer.

I don't hate the game but i feel like Turn 10 has forgot what made their games special and that was the freedom of racing what ever you wanted and not being so restricted. If i wanted to deal with restrictions like that i would of just bought Project Cars 2. Forza is really no different then any other racing game now.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First...The New homologation idea is very good and necessary... but... Visual steering wheel lock to 90 degrees!! people playing with a steering wheel will suffer as I do, the worst virtual hands on wheel, look at the renault f1, the hand overlap the car!!! 1500000cr, Loot boxes!!!!!(they are testing us to implement this **** still no real racing rules, no qualify option, no dynamic Weather (it is scripted and for only a few tracks), no apex time, no difference for the car in front, WTF!!!! its a Racing Game! a motorSPORT! a full price one and it looks like a mobile game with all that random gamble cards and boxes, so why not make another serie, a Forza freemium, real racing 3 competitor, a game for all platforms, don´t screw the motorsport series and sorry but there are too much trucks, dirt cars and forza horizon cars, Limo!!! and in the seventh edition I expected more than a thousand cars, gran turismo 6 for PS3 got 1200, Forza 4 got 700 plus.
I've played severe hours of all Forza motorsport, not horizon, since the first in the original xbox, I simply finished 1, 2 just 25%, 3 and 4 but I didn't played Forza since 4 that was a fully customizable game with no micro transaction (Forza 7 don't got now but there will be soon), no cards and no loot boxes and I ve bought the nurburgring DLC but I just can't believe people fall into that diabolical scheme and pay to win or to look better besides the game price, in this game you should be able to customize everything with no price, you cant customize your driver, for exemple, you need to buy or gamble with loot boxes, we should fight against gamble in this industry, the people who like games as a form of Art, creativity, Culture and entertainment don't support this kind of attitude from developers, we are educated and intelligent people who knows what we are consuming and we don't want any corporate policy to make any psychological game design to addict us and **** with our cognitive system, beyond this, The Price practices in Brazil, twice the price of F1 and project cars2 is unfair.
Besides this annoying corporate scheme and ideological mislead from the original series, a MotorSPORT series it´s becoming a MOTORHORIZON series, The graphics are amazing, it performs good in the max setting in my PC, 4K 60fps is becoming a must for racing games, you gain a lot looking for the turn apex, 100 meters plaque and references on the horizon, the night transitions have amazing skyboxes and track lighting changes, the weather is good but don´t impress me and it is not dynamic but this is the best game to play in a gamepad, preferably the xbox one with rumble triggers, sensational for braking and acceleration feedback and there is no new generation game out there that you can play with a car you can buy or even with your own car.
The presentations for the career is awesome, it improved a lot, still need some improvements, look the codemasters F1 series the best racing career ever with ambients and characters, rpg structure or even FIFA the journey with a great story line but in forza you still got ken block voice messages, story of other drivers, the graphic design for evething is amazing and the game design of the career is better than the past editions, for sure, excluding the inherent need for mods or loot boxes cards, pure gamble that leaves me to the question, I can´t understand, why the assists is no more a "MOD" to increase your earnings, because it should, you have to truly master the game and it is probably because they changed the system to allocate this microtransaction scheme, pay or gamble to win not play hard like a pro to win, why not the "mods" is your perfect curve, perfect pass, perfect drift, perfect draft, fastest lap, best sector, clean lap and if you bump each others cars, go out of the track, cut a curve, miss a gear, break too much, get passed you get a negative mod, that would be a motorsport series, go grab your filthy money on the horizon series.
The best feature in forza games, for me, is the paint and apply decals, that changed nothing since forza 4, just added more community decals, it is not good but it still there and the way your design is offered for other players is rewarding because anyone can pick your design for a specific car without going to your front store and the game offer the option to give a like if you are using this design for some time, this is awesome, a incentive for creativity. The interesting and unique feature of Forza is to tune your car after hours of testing and setting up the differential, height, camber, wings and so on and them designing your car putting your mark, your signature, and go race on line. And the new homologation system is great because it brings the game more to the reality, the old system fits into the horizon series where you do crazy Scheisse, so there are people crying for nonsense cause, point for turn 10 when they bring the motorsport series to motorsport realit

Will not buy another Forza game ever again, nor will I buy a game from turn 10. This is a full priced game that has more microtransactions than a mobile game.

I took a long break from gaming, and this is what I've coke back to.

You have ruined games, and I will not support any developer that acts like this.

    Lazy, short sighted and stupid.

    Shame on you.

The old games (excluding the Horizon spinoff) are about the cars and you can tell. You used to be able to buy any car you wanted if you had the credits, now there are car tier limits for no reason at all other than to make you GRIND. The emphasis is on leveling up your character and trying to use sleazy addiction tactics to keep people on the grind. They have forgotten what keeps all their fans coming back!     Several unfortunate changes in as usual robust, photogenic and over-riding video game. Still a great circle Forza, but due to this year's competition, the creators are unnecessarily risking in a hunt for few extra bucks. [Issue#279}

As a package, Forza Motorsport 7 is a solid game for racing fans and a technical showcase for the Xbox One X. While it doesn't look quite as good on the Xbox One, the game still holds its own on the older console and puts in a respectable performance. Just don't spend too much time looking closely at the scenery if you're not playing on an X.

Of course, FM7 has its share of problems, like shortage of tracks for some car classes, lack of management options in career mode and all-but-braindead AI, but the point is – it’s finally possible to play for the driving experience itself.[Issue#224, p.50]
