Overall, I think that Gryphon Knight Epic is a great game for fans of the genre and can even surprise people who are looking for a good story.

The gameplay feels great, with tight controls and shooting mechanics. The game offers some interesting upgrades and abilities that can be used to go back and explore the game in more depth. The visual presentation is strong and uses a playful and vibrant style. I would highly recommend this title if you’re a fan of classic side scrollers like Mega Man or Castlevania or more recently games like Shovel Knight.

Gryphon Knight Epic is one part fantastic, with a touch of frustration. With a few tweaks and some better design it would be something I could easily recommend for everyone. As it stands though, grinding to upgrade my abilities simply holds the title back from being great. Still definitely worth checking out though when time and money permits, or if you happen to catch it on a decent sale.

Gryphon Knight Epic has a certain nostalgic vibe to it and it delivers a style of gameplay that's in short supply these days, but it fails to nail the gameplay both in terms of mechanics and enjoyment. There are some good ideas at work behind the game, but they need more work to make Gryphon Knight Epic a good game.

A sometimes promising, often frustrating, always underwhelming and overly short shoot-em-up that fails to meet the expectations set by its own title. The art style is pleasant, and the weapon combinations are fun, but that's not enough to drag this game out of mediocrity.

No bullet hell here, but the bullets coming at you will definitely keep you on your toes! Especially when the hit box is basically your whole character. The controls are tight, you get plenty of weapons, and you get to upgrade your character! The gameplay is deep, the story is entertaining, overall its highly recomended if you like side scrolling shooters. Expand

It reminds me of classic greats and includes the DLC created for the original game. Sir Oliver has already defeated a dragon, married a princess and saved the kingdom. But during his quest he will face adversaries he never imagined he would, because… in reality all of them were once friends. What happened? These heroes would never go rogue all at once? Something is rotten in the kingdom and it's up to Oliver to discover what. It's up to you to fight your way through 9 hand-crafted levels, duel with challenging bosses and get their weapons, explore the stages to find equipment for your character and bits of ancient lore of the world, enjoy challenging gameplay and pixel art graphics, just like old times. Jump-in/Jump-out Local Co-op, a friend can join anytime to help on your quest as well. While nothing earth shattering Gryphon Knight Epic Edition does enough to provide fun and value for many Xbox gamers who enjoy the genre. Expand
