Without any doubt, Mass Effect: Andromeda is nearly everything the fans were waiting for. A great story told just as only BioWare knows, set on incomparable alien worlds and surrounded by charismatic characters that are tough to forget. Unfortunately it fails on technical aspects, but the gameplay balances it out.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is simply an amazing game. It renews the franchise yet manages to feel really familiar for fans. Unfortunately, the game suffers from some technical problems, but they hardly impact the gameplay.

Overall, despite its shortcomings Mass Effect: Andromeda was an enjoyable experience for me. The first few hours feel like a grind, but you will be rewarded for sticking with it. The game is dragged down a bit by all of the reading that must be done and some overly long conversations, but this is rather typical for the genre. The game really shines when you're exploring an alien world and battling the local fauna, and when you get down to it that's what you really want out of a space-based RPG.

You might initially turn your nose up at Mass Effect: Andromeda, but stick with it and you'll be richly rewarded with a vast space opera that gets better and better. It has problems, but they pale into insignificance once you're swept up in the exploits of Mass Effect: Andromeda's Pathfinder.

Mass Effect: Andromeda at times captures the essence of the Mass Effect trilogy but doesn’t quite live up to its potential. The story and its lovable cast of characters stand as solid starting blocks in an expansive universe. Performance issues, bugs, and design flaws hurt an otherwise commendable role-playing game.

This is by far the least optimized, most buggy entry in the series. The sheer volume of glitches, animation problems, frame rate issues, and weird hitching lag plagues the entire experience, and it's a damn shame.

Mass Effect Andromeda is the anticipated sequel to the hit space trilogy that, sadly enough, doesn’t deliver. Sketchy animations, uninspiring characters and uneven story make this one a space-adventure to quickly forget.

The world isCharacterdevelopment is great with many choices and skills. Rather than having a class system you can create your own class now. The world is beautiful and actualy visualy reflects your progress in main and side story in the form of outposts and the new citadel, which actualy grow and develop. The battle system is fluid and fun. The new vehicle is a lot fun and controls a lot better than the one in Mass Effect 1.
However the game has its flaws aswell. The face animations are pretty bad. After a few hours it didnt realy bother me anymore, but it has to be said. The story is interesting and very different. I like to compare it to a more anime like story where the characters are funny and cool, sometimes in an exaggerated but funny matter. Of course there are also plenty of serious moments in the game.

The game is great and a lot of fun. It is not perfect but it is a solid 8 out of 10. The 10 rating is supposed to counter the clownes who gave 0-4. Most haters just dont like Biowares political opinion. Dont miss out on such a great game.

I just finished off the campaign and I absolutely loved the story. There's not as much of a sense of urgency as the original trilogy, but thisI just finished off the campaign and I absolutely loved the story. There's not as much of a sense of urgency as the original trilogy, but this one is just as fantastic. In fact they wrapped it up super nice and left it open for DLC and more to come. Great ending to the main campaign. I completely had some OMG moments.

Combat was fun and immersive. Cover didn't always work but having the jetpack made that unnecessary a lot of the time. It was also nice being able to use biotic powers along with tech. Mixing and matching whatever you preferred.

As for people griping over the new crew all I can say is get over it. If you give the new crew a chance you will find they are pretty fantastic. You got connected to the original trilogy crew over 3 games. Give this one a chance. They really grow on you. We're never getting Garrus and Joker back.

As for facial animations, there were a couple of scenes where it might have bugged me but it was so bad it was actually comical and not game breaking. Do I wish my Sara Ryder could smile without looking like a clown ... yes. But maybe that will be fixed with a patch. Even then it didn't detract from the game for me.

I also see people complaining about the sidequests. I don't get it. People don't complain about these fetch quests in Skyrim and some of these are actually interesting and add to the story. On top of that you don't have to do them. You do not need to do sidequests to receive 100% viability on a planet. If you want to do them feel free. I really can't see why people would complain about the addition of these sidequests. No one is forcing you to do them.

Lastly the MP in Mass Effect is awesome. It's truly one of the only games I have really put a ton of time into playing MP with. The whole team combat thing really works well with the Mass Effect universe. I loved it in 3 and I love it in Andromeda.

I'm really looking forward to what happens next with this series. This was not a disappointment. Happy endings can happen in the Mass Effect universe :D

I'm reviewing this post 1.07, where the game is now extremely stable.

The continued hate should be directed at EA, not necessarily Bioware Montreal, who obviously busted their tails; no Mass Effect would live up to expectations.

Enjoy it for what it is, play through the entire story, and if you're intelligent enough to understand the scope, you'll find a killer experience.

The multiplayer alone has given my friends and I hundreds of extra hours of enjoyment!

Unfortunately this game was a victim of bandwagon hate and bad press. Be it from the racist tweets from a dev on the team. Or a bunch of Alt-righters calling the trailer of the game "sjw nonsense" just because there was a black character in the cast. Complaining about not being able to choose "white skin" when both the default Ryders are white. This game unfortunately attracted a toxic section of the internet. People with alt-right agendas. Who call anything featuring minorities, or different sexualities "sjw". These are the same type of people who you see in the youtube comments saying stuff like "Wonder woman only did good at the box office because of feminist". Not realizing when they say crap like that, they prove the leftist point. Unfortunately this game got the attention of those type of people.

People wanted to hate this game, and they used the piss poor animations and technical issues as an excuse to hate every aspect about the game. Despite that being an issue in the original Mass Effect (i'm sure everyone remembers Liara, Samara and most Asari lazy eyes LOL).

Why I say this? because people literally trash this game for things the original trilogy either did or were guilty of. People claim the characters are uninspired? hello....Kaidan and Ashley from the original Mass Effect didn't even get proper development. Garrus and Wrex, two fan favourites barely got development in the first game. Most conversations were just info dumps. Wrex loyalty quest consisted of retreiving a piece of armor from a generic planet, and afterwards he gave you only about two sentences of dialogue and then the mission was over.

Male Ryder is objectively better than Male Shepard. One of the major problems throughout the original trilogy was that Male Shepard had no personality. Every string of dialogue no matter the situation came off monotone and devoid of any emotion. Yet some people seem to be blinded by nostalgia and claim that Shepard was a better character when Ryder objectively feels more like a real person. His behaviour, his actions and interactions with the other characters are all believable whereas Shepards always came off as cringe worthy.

Loyalty quest is another thing this game does better than the trilogy. They span multiple quest. Whereas loyalty quest in ME2 were very superficial and very very short which were filled with some questionable dialogue (looking at you Jack). Kasumi's quest was one of the highlest of ME2's companion quest, the rest left a lot to be desired. In this game almost all of the companions have strong loyalty quest. Drack, Cora, Vetra etc.

So i'm inclined to believe the ones complaining about the cast are those who just can't accept that the old cast is gone. Because characters like Cora and Liam are objectively miles superior to Kaidan, Ashley, and Jacob who all received VERY little development. Kaidan and Ashley didn't even get loyalty quest throughout the entire trilogy.

Then there are the people who want to point out flaws in the plot or cringey dialogue ALL of which the original Mass Effect trilogy suffered from as well. Hell the entire Lazarus project thing was nothing short of magic. Brain dead Shepard is magically restored to life after crashing into a planet from order, yeah sure. The original trilogy was FILLED with unbelievable moments of writing and cringe dialogue scenes. But of course people highlighted that for this game. Every excuse is piled on to hate this game, even when it's something the original trilogy was notorious for or the worst offender. It was a technical mess, but a promising start. Ryder is, already for me vastly superior to Commander Shepard (male Shepard). The actor who plays Ryder is by far superior at conveying emotions than Mark Meer's Shepard.

Shooting is okay, graphics are marginally better than Mass Effect 3 and the character models out of armor are just poorly done and this is after the major patch job done to resolve the many issue it had at launch, It has bloated content and side missions are terribly dull and poorly implemented. Bioware should be ashamed of this title - Dragon Age 2 was actually better than this game and didn't waste nearly as much of my time.

I just hope that Anthem is not a train wreck and that there are actual stories of interest in the game. If Bioware can go back to telling great stories with plenty of tension and action then Anthem may be what Destiny should have been. But if it resembles Andromeda in terms of story, it will be another let down.

I am a huge Mass Effect fan, having played the first 3 games multiple times and in comparison Andromeda falls woefully short. First, the combat is smoother and faster but they have removed direct control and customization for squad members. The facial animations are HORRENDOUS and really take you out of the game, but the environments are done pretty well. The writing is also mediocre at best, given that Mass Effect writing hasn't always been high literature but at least it was funny, charming and enough to get you invested in the story. I'm already 25 hours into Andromeda and i just cant get myself to care about the stories and the characters. My biggest disappointment were the mundane fetch quests that just littered the game. It seemed like a majority of the quests were a simple go here find 3 of these and sent you off to all corners of the map, and it got really old really fast. Which is really sad because there is a good game in here somewhere, the areas are massive and there is plenty to explore. Expand
