Without any doubt, Mass Effect: Andromeda is nearly everything the fans were waiting for. A great story told just as only BioWare knows, set on incomparable alien worlds and surrounded by charismatic characters that are tough to forget. Unfortunately it fails on technical aspects, but the gameplay balances it out.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is simply an amazing game. It renews the franchise yet manages to feel really familiar for fans. Unfortunately, the game suffers from some technical problems, but they hardly impact the gameplay.

Overall, despite its shortcomings Mass Effect: Andromeda was an enjoyable experience for me. The first few hours feel like a grind, but you will be rewarded for sticking with it. The game is dragged down a bit by all of the reading that must be done and some overly long conversations, but this is rather typical for the genre. The game really shines when you're exploring an alien world and battling the local fauna, and when you get down to it that's what you really want out of a space-based RPG.

You might initially turn your nose up at Mass Effect: Andromeda, but stick with it and you'll be richly rewarded with a vast space opera that gets better and better. It has problems, but they pale into insignificance once you're swept up in the exploits of Mass Effect: Andromeda's Pathfinder.

Mass Effect: Andromeda at times captures the essence of the Mass Effect trilogy but doesn’t quite live up to its potential. The story and its lovable cast of characters stand as solid starting blocks in an expansive universe. Performance issues, bugs, and design flaws hurt an otherwise commendable role-playing game.

This is by far the least optimized, most buggy entry in the series. The sheer volume of glitches, animation problems, frame rate issues, and weird hitching lag plagues the entire experience, and it's a damn shame.

Mass Effect Andromeda is the anticipated sequel to the hit space trilogy that, sadly enough, doesn’t deliver. Sketchy animations, uninspiring characters and uneven story make this one a space-adventure to quickly forget.

The world isCharacterdevelopment is great with many choices and skills. Rather than having a class system you can create your own class now. The world is beautiful and actualy visualy reflects your progress in main and side story in the form of outposts and the new citadel, which actualy grow and develop. The battle system is fluid and fun. The new vehicle is a lot fun and controls a lot better than the one in Mass Effect 1.
However the game has its flaws aswell. The face animations are pretty bad. After a few hours it didnt realy bother me anymore, but it has to be said. The story is interesting and very different. I like to compare it to a more anime like story where the characters are funny and cool, sometimes in an exaggerated but funny matter. Of course there are also plenty of serious moments in the game.

The game is great and a lot of fun. It is not perfect but it is a solid 8 out of 10. The 10 rating is supposed to counter the clownes who gave 0-4. Most haters just dont like Biowares political opinion. Dont miss out on such a great game.

I'm saying as of now, this is a much better game than a lot of the reviews are giving it credit for. it's got around and 8 average from critics.. which is pretty solid, honestly. But ya, for me.. I really am enjoying the story and characters. I just did a fight on eos that was so epic.. one of the coolest fights in recent memory. that in itself is worth the time.. but ya, this game is great.

Addendum: after just beating it im raising my score from a 9 to a 10.. the ending is so epic.. this game deserves your time.. need andromeda 2 asap!

TL;DR: The game sucked me in and kept me there for 8 straight hours. This is a must game.

I’m not a fan of the Mass Effect series. The running back and forth for scanning. Endless looting, customization of weapons and gear. Crammed space stations with numerous dialogues and sterile environments. Clunky battle controls. Non engaging story.

When I saw the new Andromeda being added to Gamepass, I pondered if it was worth check it out. Not because I like Mass Effect, but because space’s always fascinated me.

The intro with a colonization ship traveling through space seemed promising. Maybe not the best graphics. Actually far from it. And the same clunkyness in controls. Animations are far from the best there is, especially since the game now has three years on it’s back. And yet, I plowed 12 hours in one day. Why? Usually, when a game is boring, I can manage a couple of hours. Leave it. Maybe come back and play some more. And finally get bored, leave and never come back.

Very few games have that “it” factor. For me, it’s Oblivion, RDR 1-2, some GTAs, The Witcher III & the first Fall Outs that qualify. They just suck you into the world, making you crave to explore it. That is what Mass Effect did to me. Just a couple of hours in I had one Game of Throne like experience. By then the game had me, hook and sink.

The social interaction with your team and others, the politics going on behind the curtains and solving the mystery of what brought down this once blooming part of the andromeda galaxy. What are the alien invaders after? Who can I really trust in our colony? All top ingrediences.

Sure, the graphics are a bit outdated and the face animations are a tiny bit clunky sometimes. But mostly, they work good. And the voice acting is top notch. Listening to my team mates squabble amongst themselves are pure gold. But this makes the game a 9 and not a 10.

The fighting is really funny, engaging, quick and variable in terms of how you defeat your enemies. Also, the AI works good in not just making your enemies stay in one place or go log stupid. Those of you who recently played Cyberpunk know what I mean.

Maybe this game suit people who’s not played the previous MEs (or played but disliked). I don’t know. All I know is that I’m counting the hours until I can dive into space again, going about exploring it with my awesome space ship.

Finished Mass Effect Andromeda today, my thoughts:

    1. The main story felt a bit short (a bit) but the side quests kept the game going

    2. The side quests are amazing in the game, sometimes better than the main story with each character offering something new and entertaining

    3. The music can sometimes get repetitive but does play excellent selections during intense fire fights.

    4. Flying through space is annoying, being forced to jump to every planet and sit through non-skip able cut scenes

    5. The skills and weapons provide a wide variety of choices ranging from melee to shotguns and the skill tree's does provide a small selection but improves with mix and match functions

    6. The remnant vault glyph puzzles feels tacked on and takes time and effort, which should be spent on other areas of the game. In certain cases I stopped playing the game all together because it stopped progression as it was too difficult to solve (Recommend using online guides)

    7. With each character you're getting a wide range of personalities, all worth investigating and I felt the need to talk to each and every one of them after a mission as their thoughts were so unique and quite entertaining.

    8. Each new planet provided expanding vistas to explore with little missions sprinkled in between, though some did feel a bit repetitive in mission structure and a hassle to travel to, this is made much easier after fast travel is unlocked in specific locations

    9. Throughout the story you will be asked to make game changing choices and these are quite amazing, but is asked too little, the ones they do ask I have seen change my game in some aspects.

    10. The conclusion was worth the wait, with everything trying up in a neat knot and the feeling of we did it, its over (in an accomplished way), with the exception of one enemy character (which the game uses to set up the next game perhaps)

Overall it is definitely a game I would consider replaying if I had no other games to finish and would enjoy it again because of the characters and maybe the gameplay

These missions are tied for the parts I enjoyed the most in the game. As far as gameplay goes, they’re undoubtedly the most well thought out. But I actually enjoyed the plot elements more. I think it’s pretty well written, but not great, and the lore of this new galaxy turns out to be interesting sometimes. I also think there’s good potential here for a sequel. I think there are some things that could’ve definitely been improved but for what it is, I like it.
•The thing tied for what I liked most is the relationships you have with the crew. I really enjoyed just talking and getting closer to them. Once again, they could be written better, as I wasn’t as deeply engaged as I’d have liked, but I felt some attachment to nearly everyone.
•Dialogue in general is something I’m a bit neutral on. As I’ve said writing could be improved, but being able to choose what you say so often is kinda impressive in retrospect. Ryder does have his own character, whether you decide to make him more serious or not, and I like him (or her, I guess, though I didn’t play as Sara). Voice acting is quite good from everyone as well, not just Ryder. But there aren’t exactly any moments where they have to act their heart out.
•The main part of gameplay is the combat. And it’s good. Would be better if it didn’t get so repetitive. The enemy variation slows down dramatically as time goes on, and I don’t think even that would’ve saved it for me. I never absolutely hated fighting, because all things considered it’s sort of well designed. You’ve got a lot of different abilities you can use and upgrade, it’s nice to have squadmates, and you’ve gotta take somewhat different approaches per the enemy you’re facing. But none of it is ever very satisfying and I can’t place my finger on why that is.
•I do not like the exploration. The places you can go to are pretty. Environments are really nice to look at. It does not save how nearly every single location you can journey to on a planet is the exact same. Same structures every time, same driving to do across planets, same everything. I should mention, driving is the best part of this because of the conversations your squadmates have every once in a while. It’s a saving grace from the monotony. However, all this could be forgiven if not for two things: the side missions and the loading screens. The majority of side missions in this game are bad. There is literally not a good reason to do them aside from the xp. Anything relating to your squadmates is worth the time, especially the loyalty missions, and usually the missions for settling a planet are ok enough, but other than that I cannot think of even three that should be tended to. If the stories that were being told were interesting, I’d say go for it, but not when they’re this uninteresting and uninspired. Added to the reason they’re so bad is the loading screens. Which aren’t that short. But the amount of screens you’ve got to go through is ludicrous. The fact that there isn’t just one map to fast travel creates an incredibly tedious process. Having to go from your ship from wherever you’re at, to the star map, wait to transport to the new system, then wait to transport to the planet, then wait for the same cutscene for the planet every time as you land on the planet, then have to fast travel to wherever you want to go on that planet, is such awful game design I don’t have any idea how it happened.
•Game’s got some puzzles, some platforming sections. Neither are good. Ever. Not awful, like I don’t mind sudoku that much, but not good.
•There’s some miscellaneous things you can do like crafting and sending out teams for missions that I barely paid attention to. I got through the whole game just fine with the things I picked up along the way.
•The codex is fine. “The Journey So Far” section is cool, I liked retreading the things I’d done. Otherwise there’s some good bits here and there for the lore but most of it is boring to the point I skipped through it.
•The animation is mediocre in nearly every instance. Facial animations as well. Cutscenes do look nice though.

Overall: It’s a good game. I like it. But there’s so many issues that ruined what could’ve been a very good or even great experience. So much oversight, so many mistakes in the design of nearly everything. I’d say it would’ve been a much, much better experience had I only done about half of what I did. That being said, I really hope there’s a sequel for this one day. I hope the issues with this one are cleaned up so the story can be continued and so I can see the characters I liked so much again. There was potential here, but they missed the mark.
