Without any doubt, Mass Effect: Andromeda is nearly everything the fans were waiting for. A great story told just as only BioWare knows, set on incomparable alien worlds and surrounded by charismatic characters that are tough to forget. Unfortunately it fails on technical aspects, but the gameplay balances it out.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is simply an amazing game. It renews the franchise yet manages to feel really familiar for fans. Unfortunately, the game suffers from some technical problems, but they hardly impact the gameplay.

Overall, despite its shortcomings Mass Effect: Andromeda was an enjoyable experience for me. The first few hours feel like a grind, but you will be rewarded for sticking with it. The game is dragged down a bit by all of the reading that must be done and some overly long conversations, but this is rather typical for the genre. The game really shines when you're exploring an alien world and battling the local fauna, and when you get down to it that's what you really want out of a space-based RPG.

You might initially turn your nose up at Mass Effect: Andromeda, but stick with it and you'll be richly rewarded with a vast space opera that gets better and better. It has problems, but they pale into insignificance once you're swept up in the exploits of Mass Effect: Andromeda's Pathfinder.

Mass Effect: Andromeda at times captures the essence of the Mass Effect trilogy but doesn’t quite live up to its potential. The story and its lovable cast of characters stand as solid starting blocks in an expansive universe. Performance issues, bugs, and design flaws hurt an otherwise commendable role-playing game.

This is by far the least optimized, most buggy entry in the series. The sheer volume of glitches, animation problems, frame rate issues, and weird hitching lag plagues the entire experience, and it's a damn shame.

Mass Effect Andromeda is the anticipated sequel to the hit space trilogy that, sadly enough, doesn’t deliver. Sketchy animations, uninspiring characters and uneven story make this one a space-adventure to quickly forget.

The world isCharacterdevelopment is great with many choices and skills. Rather than having a class system you can create your own class now. The world is beautiful and actualy visualy reflects your progress in main and side story in the form of outposts and the new citadel, which actualy grow and develop. The battle system is fluid and fun. The new vehicle is a lot fun and controls a lot better than the one in Mass Effect 1.
However the game has its flaws aswell. The face animations are pretty bad. After a few hours it didnt realy bother me anymore, but it has to be said. The story is interesting and very different. I like to compare it to a more anime like story where the characters are funny and cool, sometimes in an exaggerated but funny matter. Of course there are also plenty of serious moments in the game.

The game is great and a lot of fun. It is not perfect but it is a solid 8 out of 10. The 10 rating is supposed to counter the clownes who gave 0-4. Most haters just dont like Biowares political opinion. Dont miss out on such a great game.

Often, you can't get through the first three chapters and you put it back on the shelf. This game is like that, but if you can stick with it through the boring opening, it does get better. I actually would rate this game higher but for one glaring reason: story.
Bioware's success with the Mass Effect series was based on its compelling story and fine characterizations. Andromeda, while not bad, simply does not live up to the writing and to the characters that we saw in the first series. The game is particularly lacking in proper pacing and dialogue for their romance arcs. There's no tension there, no sense of overwhelming attraction between characters to make the romance fun. I think Bioware got so wrapped up in being politically correct that they forgot what makes a romance a good romance.
Gameplay was very difficult until the patch, now perhaps they dumbed it down a little too far, but better that than what we had. In addition, the creators of this game fell in love with their jump jets and created what I like to call "the revenge of the shards." (If you played Dragon Age: Inquisition, you KNOW what I mean.) And the puzzles, oh please why so many puzzles so many different ways? The game should be fun, instead it literally gives me a stomach ache at times from the frustration of the puzzles and the jump jets. Bioware, I don't understand. Your forte is story, characters, plot. Why oh why did you forgo that for the lure of the "open world"? It was okay in DA:I, but here, it doesn't serve you well.

The game play isn't snappy at all. "Cumbersome: is a better word to describe it. Controller inputs are "drifty" so when you point Ryder in a particular direction there seems to be too much momentum. Also, the graphics are almost laughable for an XBox One game. The characters graphics in the first three were much better which is an enormous step backwards. You would almost have to try to mess them up given the advanced power of a third generation console. All in all I'm disappointed so far. I have heard that the "updates" will improve the game but this is a perfect example of a developer bringing a product to market well before it is ready. Even worse, it is not like there was a huge lead time issue here. It had already been several years since ME3. Why not hold the release until you are ready? Really disappointed so far, especially considering this is one of my all time favorite franchises. Expand
