Mutant Year Zero’s robust gameplay elements blend together magnificently well, collectively sitting on a story backdrop that’s intriguingly desperate, yet oddly comedic at just the right times. The game’s openness encourages experimentation and daring, with no shortage of lore and rewards dished out to keep its pace at a steady flow. The end result makes for one of the best tactical adventures of the gen.

A unique, good-looking, intense experience that's more than worthy of existing in the same genre as an illustrious classic like XCOM.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Even enriches and rejuvenates a classic formula with a compelling narrative structure, an original exploration gameplay and a very good stealth component, delivering a game every lover of turn-based tactics should try.

For fans of XCOM and turn-based gaming in general then Mutant Year Zero: Road to Edenis definitely worth a look, especially if you are an Xbox Game Pass owner. The combat is satisfying and even though it isn’t you pulling the trigger directly, you can feel the impact each one makes.

A beautifully fettled, deeply tactical XCOM-alike that has a shot at cult-classic status.

Smart tweaks to an aging formula, fun characters and an excellent new stealth element more than make up for a disappointing by-the-numbers premise. A true sleeper hit.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a clever take on the turn-based RPG, blending it with freeform exploration in a way that feels natural and satisfying. It’s unfortunate that the rest of the game can’t match the well-realized concept, giving off the sense of a great execution that wasn’t fully baked. For the genre, it’s a surprisingly bite-size experience that, while may not be the most friendly to newcomers, fans should definitely check out.

I played the game on hard mode, took me around 12-14 hours, and immediately started another round on very hard + iron mode (after all the learning from the first playthrough). To truly experience this game at its best, I would recommend a second playthrough on that mode.

Story is not perfect, but good enough to keep your engaging. The presentation, characters and the gameplay is where the game shines the most. I gave 25 or so hours overall on the game, and all that time was well spend.

Got it for free on gamepass, a great spiritual successor to xcom!
It's a bit short, but still a fun experience.

    Game(s) like: XCom, Wasteland 2

    Pros:
    - Enjoyed the story/setting overall. Usually not into human animals but this was gritty and cool.
    - The stealth mechanic was well done and added a lot to how battles were started
    - Good upgrade system and mutations were fun

    Cons:
    - About 90% of the game was isolating enemies. Would of been nice if that was 50% and 50% were bigger fights where you had to cover and move more.
    - Enemies were basically human/robots could of used a bit more of a variety

Your chance to hit is 1-2-3-4 (25% 50% 75% 100%) / Enemy chance is 100% all the time. Nice garbage
