Minus a few framerate hiccups on a handful of tables, Pinball FX3 delivers an abundance of flipper-oriented action with a slick, vibrant, and engaging presentation.

The best pinball game around got even better with greater variety, a stronger physics simulation and better graphics. And the almost complete backward compatibility with tens of already released tables.

Regardless of the new singleplayer or multiplayer options: The amount of fun you’ll have with this is definitely depending if you’re a pinball purist or not. But even if you think that everything on the screen could be build in a real pinball machine, you might get a kick out of the convincing physics, which blend almost perfectly with the unrealistic elements on basically every table.

Overall, the Universal Classics Pinball pack is a great addition to Pinball FX 3. If you can live with the lack of original voices or movie scores, you'll find each table to be well thought-out in design, with plenty of opportunities to trigger missions and special events. You'll also find each table to be generous in handing out high scores, which is perfect for increasing your wizard ranking. For genre fans, this is certainly worth picking up.

Pinball FX3 is a game that makes no excuses for being a tried-and-true game with the standard jackpot fix that arcade junkies need. The “free-ness” wears off quickly and there will be trepidation for spending “X” amounts of money on multiple boards, but the challenges and rivalries will earn a bunch of those coins back. My take on Pinball FX3 is to wait for the prices to plummet on the extra boards. That infusion of 30 boards or more will make the game shine… like the quarters you once put into the machines.

So as you canI have put a great deal of time into playing pinball games over the years, and to say I’m a big fan would be an understatement. So as you can imagine I was really looking forward to Pinball FX3, and thankfully it delivers in pretty much all areas. The gameplay is as good as ever and at times I noticed that it had even seen an improvement in its performance. The ball physics can be a bit off at times, but it doesn’t happen very often and there is no lag whatsoever, which is great. There are a number of tables for you to play, and they have got a perfect balance of classic and new tables. There are a few noticeable tables missing, but there is more than enough here to keep you happy. The replay value in the game is almost endless, and the replay value is even higher this year thanks to some new modes being added. The new modes breathe some fresh air into the series, and the modes have all been done very well. I was especially impressed with the Zen tournaments and you can compete against players online. They also allow you to create your own tournaments, and you can chop and change everything, which is awesome. The presentation side of the game has seen a vast improvement and that especially can be seen in the visuals. Visually everything looks more advanced and newer, and the best thing is that every table has had the same amount of effort put into it. At the end of the day fans of pinball games absolutely must download this immediately. Everything feels as though it has been improved and the amount of effort that’s gone into the game is very noticeable, and as far as pinball games go Pinball FX3 is probably the best pinball game I’ve ever played. I’ll go months without playing, then find myself obsessing for a week or two to get a good score or an achievement and it’s really the only game I return to year after year.
There’s accurate recreations of classic pinball tables and nifty, digitally created tables with various popular themes from comics, tv, movies, etc. that they’re still adding to after all these years.
Start with the free table to see if it’s your thang then get more tables as desired.
