There hasn't been a game in 2018 that's made me smile as much as Pit People. It's a weird world, where things get strange and quirky fast, but it's one that's absolutely worth exploring.

Pit People offers a ton of game to chew on, and while it might not be the deepest tactical RPG, it manages to translate The Behemoth’s distinctive style while providing an entertaining, often engaging strategic experience. It might not reach the insane heights of BattleBlock Theater’s take on the 2D platformer, but Pit People almost does something even more impressive, by taking an often opaque genre and turning it into an enjoyable romp.

Pit People is the new and hilarious adventure of The Behemoth, a tragicomedy that combines turn-based strategy with role-playing elements. An affordable gameplay for all kinds of players, it ranks as one of the great indies of the year. Maybe it could be a little more extensive in its campaign mode.

When all is said and done, it’s the potential for laughter that proves to be Pit People’s standout achievement. The tactical gameplay is interesting and entertaining, but the comedy is the star of the show here. I enjoyed my time with The Behemoth’s new, funky world, as well as the cast of lovable characters who inhabit it, and will fondly remember many of its gags for a long time to come.

Undoubtedly, one of the surprises so far this year. If you like the genre, you should give it a try.

Though the game can get boring after long periods, and the abundance of crude jokes can be annoying, Pit People is nevertheless a great strategy game that's at its best when played with others, but a lot of fun when played solo, too.

With Pit People, Behemoth tried something new and was only partially successful. It has excellent art design, unique world-building and some truly funny moments, but the problems with its combat and structure hinder what could be a hit. Understandably, the game’s weakest parts are those that the studio doesn’t have much experience with.

I expected everything to be quirky, colorful, funny, and give me something I would never expect before. It did exactly that. The story was very funny, relatable, and a funny villain as well. The supporting characters, combat system, open map, and customization are amazing. I never thought a game in a genre I never played before would be so captivating and so fun to play, which is a surprise for me. Pit People has a fun premise backed up with amazing customization features, engaging combat system, and funny characters. It is one of the best games of 2018 imo. If you've never heard of this game or seen it before, please try it out and play it because it deserves a lot of recognition and praise for The Behemoth's take on the genre. Expand

It's great to play couch co-op battles. If you are OK with cartoon violence and assertions e.g. "My big butt makes big poops," this is a great family game and a good introduction to turn-based strategy and tactics.

The coolest hook of this game is that at the end of most matches you can recruit the final remaining enemy to join your team for future battles.

I like the easy-ish difficulty -- there is an "insane mode" for those who want a challenge.

Pit PeopleI’m a massive fan of the preview program on Xbox One because you can see game’s improve over time and have a say in certain things. Pit People is in my opinion the best game that’s been in the preview program so far and it was an absolute joy watching the game grow and improve over the months. If you like fun and addictive gameplay then look no further than Pit People. Each mechanic works flawlessly and it’s a game that can be enjoyed immensely on your own and with friends. Playing on your own is absolutely brilliant but where this game truly shines is when played in co-op and everybody I’ve played with has absolutely loved it and they didn’t want it to end. Thankfully the game doesn’t end for quite a while and in terms of content this game has more than enough to keep you satisfied. There are an abundance of unlockables for you to get and this means the replay value in the game is sky high. You would think playing the game for a number of hours would make you become bored but that’s not the case. The main reason why you don’t become bored is because of the amount of variety that’s dotted throughout the game, and that variety is most noticeable in the quests that you undertake. The quests in the game get better and better and to say that I enjoyed the adventure would be a massive understatement. The adventure is further enhanced by a fantastic story which is packed full of humour and wonderful characters, and the best thing is that the humour was actually funny and had me chuckling away multiple times. In terms of problems with the game I only have one gripe and that is minor to say the least. The gripe I have is that I would have liked a little more depth when it came to the strategy side of the game, but like I said it really is a minor problem. The presentation side of the game is absolutely stunning. Visually the art style is packed to the rafters with charm and the accompanying music makes the game even more enjoyable, which is great. At the end of the day Pit People is absolutely perfect from start to finish and without a doubt it’s one of my most favourite games I’ve ever played. If like me you’ve had it since it was in the preview program then you will know that the developers have listened to us which has culminated in an unforgettable experience. If you were thinking of getting Pit People and you haven’t quite got around to getting it then I fully recommend you get it, trust me you won’t regret it. Expand
