If you're looking for a sequel, Project CARS 3 is not the game that you are looking for. The new game of the franchise has become a run&collect version of the sim racer game that it was, giving an arcade experience to a simulation racing. Money and experience become the thread of the career along several race types to progress into different challenges and championships. At least, is more attractive way to give a sim racing experience, but isn't perfect.

I feel the greatest mistake that Project CARS 3 makes is being called what it is. Fans of the previous two games probably won’t find what they expect here, while those who disliked them could possibly be put off by the name. This is essentially a paradigm shift for the series, taking it into new territory with mass-market appeal. And for racers like me, who like a game that controls well, has rewarding progression, and who aren’t particularly bothered by the absence of serious sim elements, it’s Slightly Mad Studios’ best and most accessible game yet.

By ditching much of the hardcore sim superstructure, what is left is is a fun, accessible racing game that can easily be mentioned in the same breath as Forza Motorsport. It’s fast, good-looking and, with the exception of some dim-witted AI, super fun to play. If you are in the market for a racing game, you can do a lot worse than Project CARS 3.

While there are numerous better and more comprehensive racing games out there, Project CARS 3 is nonetheless a remarkably solid racer in its own right, with a slew of cool options, customisation features, cars, tracks, and more. If you're in the market for a spiffy new racing title, Project CARS 3 is certainly a solid choice.

Project CARS 3 is good, but not good enough to compete with the likes of GRiD or Forza Horizon. The path chosen by Slightly Mad studios for the third version of the game is full bumps that divert the whole series from being pioneers of the semi-simulation genre to an average racing game.

Project Cars 3 might not be the sequel you expected from the series, but its shift to a more arcade style of racing is one that makes the series approachable for the first time. It's not a clean cut from its roots, and Project Cars 3 retains just enough of its simulation options to provide enough of a challenge with all of its assists turned off. The transition isn't seamless, with some confounding racing objectives and uneven AI that takes the sting out of some events. But if you're looking for another way to get out on a virtual track, Project Cars 3 is an exhilarating new alternative.

Impossible to recommend to fans of Project CARS 2, Project CARS 3 is a total 180 for the series. It’s easy to pick up and play and the racing here is robust enough for some casual thrills and spills, but ultimately it cribs from so many other racing games that racing gamers probably already own that it’s simply inessential.

It's a bit of a tragedy. i never thought the pCARS games were good games, but at least they were mediocre sims. pCARS 3 is a MUCH better GAMEIt's a bit of a tragedy. i never thought the pCARS games were good games, but at least they were mediocre sims. pCARS 3 is a MUCH better GAME than its predecessors, the career is much better and it's much more fun to play with a controller now, which was almost unplayable before.

It's a lot of fun to finally be able to enjoy those great tracks, that have always existed, in a more arcade like racer, but it defies my understanding why they didn't call it Shift 3 instead, as that is basically what this game is.

The game is nothing like the first two games, which seems like suicide from the marketing perspective, as it's clear as sauce this will greatly anger the long time fans and probably be overlooked by the more casual racers, who like Forza Horizon or GRiD, cause that's where this game is aimed at now.

From a GAMER'S perspective I have WAY MORE fun with this game, than with the other two games though, UNTIL......

Yeah, until one discovers, that the progression in this game feels very level-gated, which gives the whole game the feeling of a mobile game, which is somehow underlined by the truly lacklustre presentation, which looks clearly worse than on pCARS2, all while not really performing better.

The VR mode atm is broken and unplayable for me, as it unexplicably jitters along from time to time.

Sorry SMS, your last two games already released broken and unfinished but were never fixed. Please do better this time.

As a verdict: I don't understand who this game is for. This would be a good game without the mobile progression, which simply reeks like GaaS and monetisation.

I'd give it an 8, if it wasn't for that, but as it is I can't give more than a 6 right now

Despite the bad reviews I bought the game anyway and I'm glad I did. It's nothing like the first 2 Project Cars Games, it's more like GridDespite the bad reviews I bought the game anyway and I'm glad I did. It's nothing like the first 2 Project Cars Games, it's more like Grid meets Gran Turismo. The graphics aren't great, but they're OK. The game though is more like the game Grid should have been! There's a hefty 32gb patch to download, replacing most of the 35gb or so that was on the disc! Maybe this is why I found the game much more enjoyable than the reviewers. The update may have improved it. The driving with a Logitech G920 wheel is great fun! It's a simplified version of the first 2 games and just plain and simple fun! Expand

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the car handling. Is it arcady? Or do the cheap cars just feel that way. I'd love to play to find out, butI'm not quite sure how I feel about the car handling. Is it arcady? Or do the cheap cars just feel that way. I'd love to play to find out, but it's so buuugggy. I wanted to be able to give this game a 10 so bad. I had high expectations after how great the last two were, but this isn't even arcade quality yet. Ii hope it gets there. So long s they haven't wrecked the physics, then I don't care about the other changes, but I can't get a good feel for it just yet. I'll try to update this post after they squash some bugs. Expand

The games dead. No online players at all when trying to have a race, even after release it was one or two people to race in lobbies. GraphicsThe games dead. Graphics still suffering a of of screen tearing and it just doesn't feel like a fully game for the money. It's not as good as Project cars 2 from a sim point of view and it's not as good as Grid from an arcade angle. Forza 7 is a much better simcade game. Expand

Project Cars 3 is still a simulation. It almost perfectly models the experience of a visually impaired person under drugs in rush hour traffic.
