If they dial back the gorgonzola, the product placement and adjust that cover mechanic, this could have been a perfect game...But, for now, you've got the best-looking game on Xbox One, jam-packed full of familiar faces and top-notch acting, complemented by strong gameplay mechanics and a popcorn-crunching TV series.

Quantum Break pushes the third-person genre through a star-studded cast and time-bending gameplay, although it lacks the replay value that many may have hoped for.

Worth the long wait, Remedy has delivered one of the most beautiful games on Xbox with tight gameplay and deep storytelling that will fool you over and over again.

Quantum Break is an artistically distinct shooter, with a compelling and malleable plot and excellent performances from its main players in both their digital and live-action forms. While I wish more thought had gone into maintaining the thrill of discovering its time-twisting powers from start to finish, it ultimately didn’t prevent me from thoroughly enjoying Quantum Break’s 10-hour campaign, two times over.

Quantum Break emphasizes its narrative, which is sometimes detrimental to its cause. However, despite that fault, what's presented here is a very intricate, interesting and visually stunning game; not to mention one that is very fun to play when it lets the player use its protagonist's time-bending super powers.
  6. Quantum Break has its own beauty with its TV Show. If we are talking about storytelling, Remedy nails it. Apart from that, Quantum Break is a technical disaster with bad gameplay mechanics and old fashion visuals.

There are a lot of sound ideas in the middle of Quantum Break and, hey, if you're a sucker for goofy time travel hijinks this game has that going for it, too. But those ideas are the only things holding this project together. The moment you look past that heady connective tissue, every single one of Quantum Break's individual elements fall flat.

There's few flaws about this game. Super production and music, flawless gameplay and tons of replay value. The waiting was worth our time. oneThere's few flaws about this game. Quantum Break is a third person shooter that adds time bending abilities that the player can use to overcome the objectives given. Not only isQuantum Break is a third person shooter that adds time bending abilities that the player can use to overcome the objectives given. Not only is the combat well thought out and has this satisfying feel to it, but it has strong narrative to accompany it. If anyone is looking to buy this game, then here is what I think anyone should do. Firstly, if you are like me that value the story in video games, then this is perfect for you, it has a story that had me gripped from start to finish, to the point where I was refusing to put down my controller (except that I did for the TV show parts) And Secondly, if you love how remedy games play, then this is also for you, it is similar to Max Payne in the slow motion type of way. However, the only reason I have not given this game a perfect score is due to its ending, although by the time I put down my controller after completion I felt satisfied, it gave me the outcome I was hoping for and left a hint for a sequel or DLC but the aspect of choosing at these junctions through out the game and seeing how different they are, it in no way changes the outcome of the game, not even in the slightest. But other than that it holds up well kept me playing, for me it was a decent length, took me around 9-10 hours on normal, including the TV that was acted well with great cinematography. All in all the game is a solid 9/10 and hope to see future remedy games in this universe once again, but I could do with another Alan Wake too though so keep at it Remedy! Expand

Do you notice how they all look they were written by toddlers, and how the positive reviewers are well thought-out and actually know what they're talking about? Anywaaaaaays...

I'll start with the actual game mechanics and core parts of the game. The gunplay was super tight, to the point where I had to turn down my sensitivity because my shots would go wide by meters if I were trying to fight quickly. It may not be for everyone, but I love the fact that it actually requires a good bit of effort to fight. I'll just say that the time powers are awesome, creatively integrated throughout the many aspects of the game, and just completely badass. The graphics made me squeak a bit, even though I'm a scrub that plays on a 1080i television screen, with awesome animations, immense attention to detail, and creative, beautiful set pieces.

I won't go too in-depth on the story, so you can experience it for yourself, but it was really well done! Creative, well thought-out, good dialogue, the whole shebang. All of those are only strengthened by the performances, especially on the part of Shawn Ashmore. I liked how they used the Novikov self-consistency principle (I'm a theoretical physics major) to explain how the story, while seemingly branching out to what could have been different outcomes, eventually all have the same ending. (The principle states that, in simple terms, if someone were to travel back in time, 'history' would find a way to keep the future on track, and keep the same outcome, even if there are slight variations along the way). I like it when developers have reasons for their choices, even if it was to allow them to limit the story.

Overall, I think the game is great, and I would recommend it to anyone that's interested.

Graphically it is very rough in places; the camera doesn't pan smoothly round the player (occasional glitches which will hopefully be resolved in a future patch/update). Combat is almost too simple and the cover mechanics are very uncertain (a "snap to cover" button wouldn't have gone amiss). Climbing up a further level is a royal pain in the backside as in some areas you need to find the "sweet spot" before Jack will climb up a level. As for the dialogue - I'm no prude but do the actors really have to say F*&k so much?

Negatives aside - I'm loving the story and the attempt to marry video game and live action TV show should be applauded and not criticized. Remedy, like with Alan Wake (sequel please), succeed in telling a great story and letting the player participate in it. I just wish more of it was left for the player to actually "do" rather than just "watch".
