Rage 2 Brings Tons Of Details To Xbox Stream
May 16, 2019Rage 2 is above all else just a big dumb fun time. Sure it has a lot of shortcomings, but the minute-to-minute game play is so well-polished I couldn’t help but have a great time. So much so that I found myself going back and completing areas in full even after credits rolled. It is the kind of game I shut my brain off and just go into a zone and lay waste to all enemies in front of me. The combat feels great, the powers are incredibly fun, and so much of the game just made me feel like a total badass. I can finally forgive the end of the first game, Rage 2 is simply put, a blast.
May 16, 2019Even after 8 years, the Rage series is still having an identity crisis. It has all the signifiers of an open-world game, but it lacks the overall narrative that makes the world compelling, and its best bits—that is, its gunfights—take places in either small, complexly designed arenas or in hallways, like a linear shooter. The greatest irony about Rage 2 is that it might have been an even better, more interesting game if it was more like the first game with a fresh coat of (pink) paint. What it is now is just a bunch of sound and fury, which can be fun for a while, but it’s ultimately an empty experience.
May 20, 2019Rage 2 isn’t the biggest game in the world. Nor is it the prettiest, or the most polished. Once you’ve explored its tame open world enough to open up your combat options however, it doesn’t really matter. In the heat of battle, the only thing you’ll be experiencing while playing Rage 2 is sheer joy. And it’s good enough to make all the boring bits in between feel worthwhile. It’s not perfect, but it shows that id’s brilliant brand of combat can be enhanced and implanted into an open world.
May 15, 2019Rage 2 is presented as a wild ride through a post-apocalyptic playground, with people invited to attend a festival of blood, guts, and spray paint. Wacky characters and bright colors adorn the box art and marketing materials, but the reality of the game is much less colorful. Were the outside trimmings more accurate, they would feature a grey supercop holding an assault rifle. The pizzazz and graffiti are merely background decoration for a collection of tropes and mechanics we’ve seen elsewhere, done better by the same developers to boot. It’s certainly fun to play, and shooter diehards who love open worlds will likely have a blast checking off objectives and discovering new powers, but anyone looking for more style or substance will be disappointed.

The gun play is fantastic. Probably the best about the game. It feels chunky, in a good way. when you spray down the enemy you feel satisfied with each shot. Some of the best fps gun play i ever experienced. There is plenty to do before even starting the main story. This game is not for the story but definitely for the gun play. I'm fine with what i have seen of the story. The game is perfect for difficulty. Normal mode is not too easy and not too hard. The only gripe i would say is that the driving controls take a little of getting use too. I love the fact that when driving around you run into road blocks in areas you already been too, so it is a surprise. The story is not very long but neither was doom and that game was just as awesome. It is a solid 9 to me but ill give it a 10 cause i believe it deserves a better score.… Expand

Once the 0-bombs dissapear, I'll take this review and 10 score down to it's correct score of 8. I am adamant that 0-bombing games for other reasons than the quality of the game itself should be halted. The only way I can contribute to that is by doing the same thing but at the other side of the scale. metacritic's score system is dumb as well. Many, many games stay without score because they don't reach the necessary 4 reviews. This makes quick valueing of a game impossible. Changes that need to be made:-
-Show the score from the get-go!
-Make a written review mandatory for scores from 9 and up and certainly from 3 and down!
Unless changes in the scoring system are made, sites like Metacritic will become untrustworthy and useless. One could certainly argue that that moment has already happened… Expand

I'm halfway through Rage 2, the game is fun as hell, whoever said the game is boring has not played this game. The graphics are beautiful, I enjoy the colors, the only bad point is there is no HDR, but the game still looks great and plays smooth. So ignore the trolls, I'm enjoying this game so far, also I did play the original Rage… Expand

It looks ok but on xb1 X the textures should be better. The pink colourisation is certainly off putting but you get use to it. The sound is excellent and the gun feels great.
The game on hard mode is not a real challenge.
The driving is average and just serves to get you from A to B. I don't really do the driving mission because compared to the gun fighting, it is distinctly below par. Where Rage does succeed, and very well, is in the gun play department. The gun fights are excellent and can be very tense, however, ramp up that hardness if you want a challenge.
The UI is surprisingly clunky, and overly complicated. It lacks smoothness and is just barely functional.
The game is open world so you are free to chose your mission in the order you wish, which is great. however, most the mission are samey.
Whilst I appreciate the standards of gaming is high, this isn't a bad game, were just spoilt for great games at the moment. Whilst elements of the game are excellent, the overall package is not perfect in my opinion. But if you want carnage this game is as good as any in that department.… Expand

And its not the gameplay I'm talking about, the shooting and all the players abilities feel awesome. In fact this game is probably on par with Doom when it comes to the gun mechanics.
But everything else in the game is completely bland and boring. The story in this game is a total snooze-fest, none of the characters you meet in this game have anything interesting or cool to say. The open world feels completely lifeless and devoid of anything cool or interesting to see or do. There are tons of boring and repetitive open world activities to do but none of them are worth doing.
Worst part of the game is easily the driving, some of the worst controls in a modern day open world game.… Expand
