With an install size of only 1.9 GB, you can be forgiven for thinking that Rebel Galaxy is a small game, but Double Damage has put together an excellent experience with a fun, well-voiced narrative, offering dedicated players upwards of 50-100 hours of gameplay long after the main quest line has been completed.

A very good arcade space shooter, more suited to people not willing to learn how to pilot a real starship like in more simulative games. With a compelling story and a great soundtrack, it will fully satisfy all space opera lovers.

With its impressive ballistic action (albeit on a 2D plane) and the constant search for better equipment this mixture of games like Drox Operative, Starpoint Gemini 2, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and of course Elite: Dangerous is a pleasant surprise in the crowded niche of Space Operas.

Time will tell if these issues get fixed but for the moment, Rebel Galaxy is several light years from where it truly wants to be.

Loaded with things to do wither its mining an asteroid belt, being a pirate and attacking convoys who your supposed to save, doing side missions for hours or doing the main quest there is more then enough to do to make the time pass so quickly you don't even realize it.

Its not the most stellar graphics in the world but this game really doesn't need it. It is fun, addictive, and easy to learn to play and to master. It is a true game with the same feeling as old school freelancer.

And definitely worth the small amount being charged

If you are a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Battle-star Whatever, or Assassins Creed: Black Flag, pick this game up. It is great.

There are RPG elements that allow you to build your ship. You can trade and be a merc. The space battles are great.

While the replay value might be limited as boredom might set in after about 20 hours, it is a great game for the cost.

There is nothing quite like exploring space and killing other space ships to some fantastically dirty garage blues. Seriously, the game soundtrack alone is worth the $20 you have to throw down on the game. The fact that you get a really fun space combat sim with it is just the gravy on top. Expand

Rebel Galaxy is a lazy Sunday afternoon game that might make you late for work on Monday.

Easy to play and the missions are a bit repetitive but it slowly grows in scale. Your ship and the combat gets bigger and faster. I've played for hours and still want to visit the next space station.

Yes it uses simple game mechanisms but that is what this game is. There are a few things I would change if I had designed it but what there is works. The art style is reminiscent of book covers from the 60's and the music is a reminder of Firefly giving it a great atmosphere.

If you want a space craft simulator, this is not the game for you. If you want a fun space trading game, then Rebel Galaxy is worth a few hours of your time at the risk of it keeping you in your chair for a lot longer.
