The changes have been a long time coming, but the final result may well have given us one of the best horror titles we are likely to see this year…finally bringing the horror back to Resident Evil.

Despite its radical switch to first person view, Resident Evil 7 biohazard represents a real comeback to the series' origins, with a disturbing and scary atmosphere, great story and characters and a thrilling gameplay mixing exploration, puzzle solving and combat. An awesome new beginning for Capcom's franchise.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is a reminiscent of the old school survival horror with some modern mechanics from title like Outlast. The plot is a little 'stereotypical, but the game has seductive sounds and atmosphere.

Resident Evil 7 seems to us an indispensable game if you like the adventures with action and puzzles, but with a great inconvenience: IT IS SO SCARY. Keeps you heartbroken for hours and that is everything that we wanted from this title. Stay away from the prejudices you had about this game of the Resident Evil saga, because you will love it without a doubt.

Resident Evil 7 feels as terrifying as it does modern, all while returning the series to its roots. It hits some familiar bumps along the way, but this is the best this series has felt in years.

Even though Resident Evil 7 Biohazard ditches the third person point of view to a first person and a more intimate story, it does an amazing job of bringing back its roots which made the series so successful. The extraordinary work that was done in the different game departments such as story telling, audio, gameplay and graphics will keep me from sleeping at night and remembering it as a great experience.

Resident Evil 7 grounds itself in elements that made the original great while still indulging in a risky new shift in style that both helps and hurts the beloved formula in equal measure. But it’s also the closest a numbered sequel has come to recapturing Resident Evil’s slow, but thrilling and atmospheric adventure game roots in a while — a welcome return that I truly hope to see more of in the future.

Resident Evil 7: Bioshock got this series back from the "punching boulders"-action grave it's been stuck in for so long with a new perspective, great playability and a fantastic setting. This is exactly what the series needed. Expand

I've been a RE fan since the 90's and I liked this game a lot. It's more traditional than RE4/5/6. It's fun, scary and has a classic feeling.

A resident evil that not looks like a shooter, I prefer this kind of games if they are supposed to be scary, not only action, I really enjoy this game

The game shows the player that everything they thought about horror is wrong and It won't fail the scare the player. The plot is more than interesting, I loved it. The game shows us every type of horror that exists, from the Chainsaw massacre, to the Saw and It combines it so well. My only problems with the game are the length and the price. In my opinion the game doesn't worth 60 euros with this much of a replay value, if you are interested I would suggest to wait for a sale, because this price might be too much for this game. Expand

Tension, if there was a way to distill the emotion into an actual physical thing, Resident Evil 7 would be it. The sheer amount of stress theTension, if there was a way to distill the emotion into an actual physical thing, Resident Evil 7 would be it. The sheer amount of stress the game compounds upon the player is astounding. Creaking floorboards, voices heard from distant rooms mingled with the occasional jump scare make each session more and more terrifying. And that is coming just from the standard game, you couldn't pay me to play this in VR.

I do disagree with this being a return to form for the series; it's not. Sure item management returns as well as traveling alone within the confines of a home, but that's about it. Instead, what RE7 does is do an about-face on the direction of the series, a paradigm shift from the bombastic journey it once was on towards the path it was on. Is that a good thing? For the interim it is, but I would caution Capcom here. RE4 was also seen in the same light and look where that led.

It's worth the purchase for those that sidestepped both re5 and 6. RE7 is nothing like those titles, it's new, and old at the same time and hopefully digs deeper into what most fans of the series hoped for: the premiere survival horror series.
