Welcome to Raccoon City, home of Umbrella and its world class biomedical research.

Capcom's Project Resistance is a new 1 vs. 4 asymmetric online survival horror experience set in the world of Resident Evil. Unleash your inner evil as a cunning Mastermind or join the fight as one of the resourceful Survivors desperately trying to escape every obstacle the Mastermind puts in their way!

    [Mastermind]
They secretly kidnap young people for the purpose of data gathering.
By forcing these youths into desperate situations, the Mastermind aims to gather valuable research data on how the subjects respond to fear. The Mastermind will not face the Survivors directly. Instead, they observe through the security cameras, setting traps to prevent their escape.

    [Cameras]
The Mastermind can observe the Survivors' actions through the security cameras placed all around the facility.

    [Cards]
The Mastermind can use cards to create all sorts of chaos including placing traps and vicious creatures on the map and weaponizing security cameras.

    [Creatures]
The Mastermind can take direct control of zombies and the Tyrant to attack Survivors.

    [Survivors]
A group of youths with different backgrounds who were captured by Umbrella for use in its experiments.
They only have one objective: escape. Survivors will need to use their unique skills effectively to cover each other and defeat the creatures together. Cooperation and coordination are vital to success.

    [Completing Stages]
By completing objectives such as obtaining specific items, Survivors can advance to the next area. Survivors will successfully escape once they complete the third area in a level.

    [Time Limits and Respawns]
When a Survivor takes too much damage, they will start dying. They will not be able to move freely while in this state, but a nearby teammate can revive them. If they fail to get help in time, they will respawn, but lose a chunk of time.

    [Skills]
Survivors each have their own special skills. Damage reduction, healing, melee attack, hackinguse your skills effectively and escape together.

Project Resistance is overall a good companion online mode for the Resident Evil 3 remake rerelease, so be sure to check it out if you pick it up. Fans of Dead by Daylight should give it a try since it has a similar overall setup to that game, but it's very much its own game. At first Project Resistance doesn't seem like much, but after spending more time with it and learning how to get better at it, it actually is quite a fun game.

Clearly the best multiplayer outing for the Resident Evil series yet, it is nonetheless held back by some long lobby wait times, lack of ability to non-verbally communicate with team mates and an overpowered Mastermind suite. When things come together the gameplay is fun, though nothing revolutionary, and it even manages to carry over some of the tension found in the main games, so I really hope a solid community builds up going forward.

Resident Evil: Resistance on the Xbox One is a game that has released too early. Lag, matchmaking issues, unbalanced gameplay, a lack of content: all the major multiplayer issues are here. When it does work, there is fun to be had as a Survivor – despite being at a disadvantage – or when chasing down Survivors as a player-controlled zombie. But there is a lot more that needs to be done here, and quickly too, before the timer runs out on this multiplayer game.

The people complaining about the matchmaking must have bad Internet. The one negative is there are no dedicated servers, some jerks using lag switches to mess up the game, but that has happened maybe 1 out of 100 matches. Playing as a mastermind is unlike anything you have done in a multiplayer game. It's so much fun, once you learn how to do everything you can dominate even a sweaty level 80 Tyrone or Val. Try the game yourself Expand

Resident Evil: Resistance - Resident Evil brings us Multiplayer Survial Horror in this unique Co-Op game. Resident Evil sets out to take onResident Evil: Resistance - Resident Evil brings us Multiplayer Survial Horror in this unique Co-Op game. Resident Evil sets out to take on the likes of Dead By Daylight with their own unique style on this genre. Gameplay is offered up as you'd expect a team of 4 survivors try to escape the level and 1 mastermind who will stop at nothing to kill them. With a backstory provided that I won't spoil here. As a survivor you must navigate the level solving puzzles in each area to unlock the door to move on and ultimately escape, using points during each area to give your characters upgrades. Playing as a Mastermind is where this game starts to stand out, with different masterminds (each with their own backstory) to pick from as you progress up the ranks, you will oversee the "experiment" area using security cameras that you will use the map to switch between. The mastermind will spawn in "Cards" to the area, providing different methods to dispatch the survivors, ranging from a simple leg trap to a bio engineered zombie, to top it off you can also take control of the zombies and get your hands dirty up close and personal! The controls playing as a survivor is simple and plays as it should, however playing as The Mastermind will take slightly more practice as it will require you to keep constant overwatch and all aspects of the area and using the select button a lot more than you would normally. Nothing major to report just a little bit of practice to fully get used to Mastermind gameplay, otherwise the controls provide a nice simple experience. Visually the game looks as expected like a AAA title, with great looking characters and zombies, nice looking areas that are both dark enough to set a ominous aura but colourful enough to not be dreary and too depressing, at least until the lights go out! Overall: A solid entry to the multiplayer horror survival series, anyone bored by DBD should check this out for something unique and different and fans of RE should be checking this out also. The only real downside at the moment is matchmaking, hopefully this is addressed soon, it can take over 10 - 15 minutes to get a game if you want to play as mastermind, reports of half hour waits on PS4 are also strife. I'm literally unable to play as Mastermind (Can not find any players to join) - and when I play as Survivor it's bugged and lagging so bad, the game is impossible to win. I regret buying Resident Evil 3 - but I thought this would be a saving grace. It is not. Do not buy. Expand

Once again Capcom is trying to create a multiplayer in order to milk players more and more. It lags as hell because Capcom doesn´t want to pay any money for dedicated servers. The game is unbalanced and the master mind is overpowered.
They added this piece of unfinished crap to the main game in order to charge you full-price! Impertinent!!

A technically buggy mess that no-one, literally no-one asked for. RE: Resistance is just the latest in a long line of ill-conceived 4 vs 1A technically buggy mess that no-one, literally no-one asked for. RE: Resistance is just the latest in a long line of ill-conceived 4 vs 1 "games" that studios are able to crack out for almost no cost. They doubled-down on this awful idea by adding microtransactions too. I expected so much more from Capcom.

Recycle a few environments, tack on a few new items, and some new enemies and voila!

The gameplay is slow, it lags like crazy, matchmaking doesn't exist and it's so imbalanced Masterminds above level 2 are near invincible.

The upgrade system is so slow it takes hours of grinding to progress just 1 level, probably longer if you lose all your matches. Your average "win" (you don't win in this) will probably net you about 2300+ points, about 7% to your next level. Assuming you win (you won't). And that's just at lower levels, no idea how long it would take if you do grind to higher levels. Don't care if I'm honest.

It's probably so they could drive up demand for microtransactions, they're literally pay-to-win upgrades for your character. And progression is unique per character, costing you, even more, time/money.

No discernable plus points, nothing good to say about this at all. Soundtracks decent though, at least you can enjoy that while sitting in a menu for 15 minutes at a time.

Also, no cross-play? Seriously!? Thanks to that awful decision the game is already dead on XBONE, no point even considering looking at it. I loaded it up one afternoon and was the ONLY PLAYER ONLINE. several refreshes of rooms found zero players.

Any positive reviews are likely from players who only played as a Mastermind so should be taken with a sizable pinch of salt, or from Capcom trying salvage this complete disaster.

Now we know why it was included for free with RE3, no sane person could ever contemplate paying cash for this, it's easily one of the worst multiplayer games ever.

We could have had Outbreak #3, instead, we got this. An idea so bad it should never have made it past the initial pitch. I'm now off to invoice Capcom for my wasted time, I feel they should pay me back for playing this mess, free or not.

    Only gets a 0 cause I can't give a lower score.
