This fun game comes to Xbox One to entertain us, but its lack of variety of modes makes it somewhat short and monotonous.

It’s unfortunate that such a nice package is wasted on such a forgettable game, but that’s the kind of situation that awaits anyone who chooses to play Smoots World Cup Tennis.

It fails in regards to the gameplay thanks to a complete lack of variety in hits, and a robotic and linear feel to each match, but the visuals are fun and there are a ton of customisation opportunities.

Smoots World Cup Tennis is a horrendously developed game that will only serve disappointment. The entire experience is full of poor design choices and technical issues. Furthermore, there’s no shot variety present, nor is there any consistency as far as ball movement is concerned. It may look colorful and sport lots of customization options, but in the face of its sheer lack of mechanical depth and overall polish, that’s hardly a saving grace.

There is a decent amount of character creation and content in Smoots World Cup Tennis, and the outfits and items that you must unlock and gives the game some replay ability. The Xbox hasn't received a solid tennis game even the ones priced as a full retail package. I love a classic arcade-style tennis game, however during my time with this game the excitement didn’t last very long because the fun factor wasn't there for me. Something was missing in the overall delivery to include the most important piece to any game, the controls. Controlling the game hurt the enjoyment in play for me to include the mini gaming within. No matter how I played the game though the presentation side of things never really grabbed me, even as a fan of classic and retro styled games due to the problematic controls that at times even effected me winning or losing. Smoots World Cup Tennis does offer some fun when played along with some friends especially in the mini-games. The fun doesn't last long and with the added control frustrations end up running your overall experience. The game is value priced, but I look forward to a much needed patch to update the control experience. For me, if this main issue (controls) could be addressed in a patch the game would definitely receive recommendation, in its current state it would be unfair for me to give you a recommendation to add this to your gaming library.
