A pretty good game. From large game levels and lots of extra tasks to that non-linear approach to how you can complete said tasks and the ability to play the whole campaign cooperatively, there really is a lot to like.

It’s worth the price tag for the borderline ridiculous long-range shots you can pull off, but the campaign isn’t so good that I’d want to play through it a second time right away.

Sniper Elite III sees the franchise creep closer to excellence. It doesn't quite get there, but nonetheless this is a solid title that has arrived in a particularly lean month.

Sniper Elite 3’s focus on marksmanship over direct confrontation is admirable, but its lack of polish or any real personality keep it from standing out.

If you live for the glory of the kill, Sniper Elite III is the game for you, just don't expect it to be routinely enjoyable. It can get a bit heavy. [Issue#114, p.72]

Sniper Elite III continues to evolve the series and it’s evident that Rebellion have attempted to open up the franchise, offering more freedom. Unfortunately this comes at the cost of a pure sniping experience – something most will be looking for, given the title.

Sniper Elite 3 is an average game. The sneaking around, hiding, scouting and tactical aspects are very enjoyable. But it gets repetitive pretty fast, especially when the actual gameplay and the enemies don't really change.

I legit love this game and i cannot believe there are so many negative. This game is so much fun when your play die by die with your mates, the slow motions penetration cam is the most epicest thing ever. The ai are quite stupid but make the game fun. The only problem i have with the game is sometimes it lags epically. Other than that loves this game more than junk food. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sniper Elite III is a game that could be great, but isn't quite there.

You will enjoy SEIII if: 1.) You like gore; the X-Ray kill cams are a feature of the Sniper Elite series, and if seeing a bullet blow the face off a Nazi is intriguing to you, you will not be disappointed. I personally enjoy playing on the Sniper Elite difficulty, where realistic physics apply and headshots are not guaranteed on every shot. 2.) You enjoy third person stealth-based shooters; this one isn't outstanding in either stealth or shooting, but it is certainly good enough to enjoy.

If you expect blockbuster level story from your games, this one isn't for you. The story is paper thin (mad scientist Nazi creates super-weapon even Hitler wouldn't be cool with) and the characters are as one-dimensional as they get. The stakes remain fairly low throughout the game.

All that being said, if you take Sniper Elite III for what it is, a stealth-based third-person shooter game in which you can shoot hundreds of Nazis faces/testicles off, it delivers on that. The low review scores you see are because it doesn't really deliver on much beyond that.

Considering that there isn't many WWII shooter games nowadays, I did appreciate the change of pace from all the futuristic bs that game developers are trying to push. Please note that my review is focusing on the single player aspect of the game only. First the good. The biggest thing that this game has going for it when compared to other shooters is the x-ray kill cam. I had played Sniper Elite V2, so I was already familiar with this aspect. Even so, there was more detail. Another thing I enjoyed was the setting of the game in Africa, as it's an aspect of the war that hasn't been covered in great detail in other games. Finally, the more open-ended mission structure was a nice change from the do this do that linear pattern of V2. Moving on to the cons. The first is that the game is very short. I can't say positively, but I think there's 8-9 missions. Depending how you approach the missions, it can take anywhere from an hour to as many as 3 hours. The price point is the other big issue. When the game was initially released, the MSRP was around $50. I would recommend anyone buying this game try to get it for $15-$20. In all this game was an improvement over V2, but I would like to see more content in future titles. Expand
