Flashy and frantic brawler hamstrung only by its devotion to online co-op. [Aug 2016, p.79]

Overall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is a solid brawler focused around co-op, but also enjoyable and easy to manipulate while playing solo.

All in all, it’s not a bad TMNT game. Sure, the bosses may take too many hits to take down, and the combat will become a mash-fest after a while, but with a few buddies online, I had a pretty fun time seeing the lean green fighting machines back in action.

While there's a moderately entertaining co-op experience underneath the lazy level design, short game length, bland missions, occasional bugs, and minor kinks in the combat system, the quality and value most certainly aren't in line with what we expect from a $50 game.

The level design and watered down combat leaving the game feeling more like a button mashing grind than the deep combat intensive hack and slash that it could have been.

As a Turtles fans I’m mildly satisfied seeing the characters in a new light, but playing the game just doesn’t cut it for me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan's greatest sin isn't that it's a bad game that feels like the result of minimum effort. It's that it takes a great concept, and makes it unrelentingly boring in every way possible.

I ignore the price point of a game to because "expensive" that is all relative. Here is what I wanted out of this game... I wanted it to be arcade, fast, fun, multiplayer, and mindless. It gave me most of that in this game so that works in my favor. NO COUCH CO-OP!? Disappointment...

    The good:
Plenty of special skills to keep the fighting fresh over several plays.
Your turtle levels up and the use of charms is a nice touch.
    It's a Turtles game!

    The Okay:
The camera needs to be better.
After you kill an enemy there needs to be an auto target to the next one.
The tutorial is fine for what it does but needs to put you in more of an open environment.

    The Bad:
It is too short if you are a once and done player.
The tutorial doesn't prepare you for the "Missions in a mission" style of play.
It took me the entire first level to figure out how to actually complete missions.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
    Turtles in a half-baked game
Mutants in Manhattan in an open worldish beat em up staring the ninja turtles…
At first I was really impressed with this game..
You can climb up any and every wall.. You can use your shell to float across the Manhattan sky...
You can find charms to boost health and skills...
Spend points on new moves and freely level up these special moves as well as customize the 4 turtles specials in any way you please…
You can also freely switch through the 4 turtles at any time…
Unfortunately, after level 1 of 9, you’ve practically seen it all…
Every stage has its own boss…
To get to a boss you have to complete random tasks that pop up in these pretty dull open levels…
There is really nothing more to it than randomly take out these bad guys.. Protect this item... pick up that item and take it there... defuse the bombs... rinse and repeat for every level
There is no redeemable qualities in the gameplay…
Not even 4 player online co-op can save it, as it’s the same thing but with friends…
it’s flat out boring and monotonous…
Just wait for a call… go to the spot the activity is taking place... collect some green orbs for combat boosts, weapons, or health…
And do this until you’re told to go to the boss’s layer...
The boss fights are appreciated… it’s nice to see such a variety of characters... but only a couple feel different than the rest…
But all 9 really come down to just spamming attacks until their 5 life meters drain…
Which brings me to the trophies and achievements...
There are a handful that require certain shots during the brief second snap shots are taken after a boss is defeated…
these trophies are near impossible and I can’t see anyone getting any joy out of hunting for this games platinum…
The best part of this game is hands down the cut scenes..
At the very least they exist...
But the story and humor is poorly written…
Just your predictable beat all the bad guys then beat the baddest of the bad guys, the end.
I give Teenage mutant ninja turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
    a 5/10

    The good:
A new TMNT game. The Cellshading design of the main characters. Based on the characters and stories from the TMNT comics.

    The bad:
The game is automatic, it is played alone. Instead of selecting only one turtle, all four jump to make disasters in the city, leaving you as a total spectator. The story is totally anecdotal and inconsequential. The colorful combos system never exploits its maximum because the CPU does not let you participate and you are only an assistant

    The Meh!:
"Platinum Games doesn't make bad games ..." Zaz! This game arrives (among others to break the myth). This game has been left in the myth category because of how bad it is and uses a famous game license. Don't let anyone fool you, this "game" was also released for PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360.

This time listen to the negative reviews. Take the fast paced action games with awesome music from the 16-bit eras not make them into 3D and dumb down everything that was cool about them and make it slow paced with unnecessary gimmicks and mechanics and you would have this. Also 30 FPS lock for a game with this caliber of graphics? This game isn't even demanding. Fail. Expand
